  1. That's the only thing that stuck out to me as an otherwise good lineup as well. I don't think I like it. I'd really like to see him pick now to come alive.
  2. I picked April because of the fact that it's the only month of the year (not counting the off-season) that we get to be optimistic about the Cubs. The start of a new baseball season is always exciting to me for some reason. Plus, I lived in Augusta for 5.5 years and was there for 6 Masters tournaments, and even though the town turned into a gigantic freaking zoo the entire week, it was a unique environment that was really cool to be around. I also think the month stretching from 15 Sep 03 to 15 Oct 03 should get its own category.
  3. I'd really enjoy seeing the Cubs take three of four this series.
  4. I still remember how unbelievable it was - I don't think my feet touched the ground from the division-clinching DP against Pirates game until Alou's glove did when he flipped out. The experience was nothing short of euphoric, but the colossal fashion in which it fell apart is just so... Cubs-like. Yes, I would rather they get in the door and not finish the job than just not make any noise to begin with, but I can look back at the Bears' Superbowl loss and know that a better team beat the same Bears team we had seen all season. I can't do that with the 03 Cubs. I can only look back and feel cheated and pained.
  5. While I don't think the contrast was quite so stark, I believe adding Lofton as a lineup fixture the second half of one of those previous seasons carried a bit of success with it as well.
  6. 97 on the FSN Wisconsin feed. still not 98. He's gotta be hurt.
  7. Please let it be Izturis. Or Jacque. Eyre would be okay also. Can we give Joe Morgan a spot on the roster? DeRosa robbed! :x
  8. Almost there Z - you really CAN go an entire start without sucking.
  9. Please let it be Izturis. If Z would punch Izturis everyday, it would make his crappy games much more bearable too.
  10. Can someone please give details about the play that caused the injury? What happened? How did it look? Is he day to day (har har)?
  11. What happened to cause it? How did it look?
  12. lol, naw he gave aramis the day off and batted izsuckiz cleanup. That's a much smarter move than letting Aramis get hurt.
  13. nm, i guess im late. Crap. So what happened?
  14. Just tuned in on lunch break. Someone PLEASE tell me that Trammell decided to go with Izturis as a defensive replacement due to the early lead and that Ramirez isn't hurt.
  15. His effectiveness is the bottom line for me. The entire side circus (not counting punching the catcher) would be fine if he were in form of previous years. Given his season so far though, his mere existence (EDIT - on this team) is already offensive, and the antics greatly compound it.
  16. I would go through that every year if it meant we get all the fun leading up to it. Living it again every year is one thing, mainly because of the hope that it will be different, but going back to a particular year is another. Just reading some of the comments in this thread get me close to welling up. I'll hunt down a copy of the DVD after the Cubs win it all, but until that (fictional) day, I won't be able to relive any of that.
  17. At least the Cubs deserved to win tonight about as much as they deserved to win last night. 2 of 3 wouldn't be disappointing. It'd be REALLY nice if they won tomorrow in non-cardiac fashion.
  18. Won't be a very long fall at least. An excellent point.
  19. This is the only redeeming point Neifi will ever carry, in my book.
  20. It'd be great if the Cubs didn't suck for the third time in the same seven day stretch.
  21. I didn't think he was pointing at much of anything. For all we know, he could have just been gesturing at the general area of the field where the play took place. When people are super pissed and frustrated, hands tend to speak more quickly than words.
