  1. This is almost as laughable as that one time last week when someone said the Cubs would come back to win, even though they spotted the Brewers 5 runs in the first.
  2. Won't be enough. If he could somehow limit the Nats to -1, we'd be set, but I think they're more likely to do that to the Cubs.
  3. A pitcher who allows a .075 BAA to rightiees and a .300 to lefties is offset and then some by the difference between Jones and Lee.Lou really should have staggered the starts for all the dead weight he's been benching lately.
  4. Indeed. They should mandate a missed start during a stretch of no off days.
  5. I'm hoping it's just the Brewers. They have a horrid record in PNC park, for whatever reason. I trust ours is at least a little better, though I haven't looked it up. Uecker was talking about how terrible it's been for the Crew in PNC yesterday. Looks like they lived up to it. Lose 3/4 to the Pirates, wow. From the way things have sounded, it could have been just the Brewers, but the Pirates have been sounding really tough this weekend. I heard Uecker complaining today too, so hopefully you're right and it's just the Brewers honoring tradition and nothing more, but the Cubs seriously had better not be looking past this weekend.
  6. The fact that the Cubs are winning lately is what makes it a nice article, but after a Steve Bartman reference in the first paragraph and a $300 million reference in the second, I'm done reading.
  7. A win tonight would make 3 games of ground gained on Milwaukee in the last 5 days.
  8. I definitely didn't think the Pirates would take even 2 this series, much less 3 in a row. Impressive work. I really hope they're spent, because this team looks like they could do the same to the Cubs.
  9. As of the end of the 4-game series against the Brewers, the Pirates have played more than 100 consecutive innings without a single error on defense at any position. With LaRoche heating up, all of a sudden this looks like a team that could fight with anyone in the league right now.
  10. Mench lines out hard to right, good jump on the ball by Nady. Pitt's defense is unreal.
  11. Bowen's still way better. I'm getting progressively more bitter about that trade. I was bummed the day I saw it on the headlines, and it's continuously pissing me off with each passing day.
  12. 8th inning over, no runs for the Bucs. Still 6-3.
  13. I'm not afraid of those three pitchers, but they aren't laughably bad either, so they still have a decent chance of posting no-hitters, considering the Cubs' offense the last 16 innings. Also, the offense was consistently good against Brewers pitching that isn't exactly a joke, so I'm definitely not ready to mark down a series win for the Cubs over the weekend.
  14. Damian Miller guns down Bautista trying to steal second. 2 out, none on.
  15. 1-hopper back to the pitcher. Batter safe at first, Bay out after a 1-5-6-1 rundown between 2nd and 3rd.
  16. Bay steals second.
  17. Turnbow issues leadoff walk to Jason Bay.
  18. I'm seriously in shock that the Pirates are so close to taking 3 of 4 this week. I also think it says more about the Pirates than it does about the Brewers. Buccos really kicked it into gear this week. I just hope they run out of gas after about 1 more inning.
  19. JJ Hardy singles to right.
  20. Seriously. With how solid Pit's D and pitching have been lately, LaRoche heating up makes this weekend look pretty daunting. If Jason Bay comes around, this team will give the entire league some problems. 6-3 end of the 7th.
  21. ADAM LAROCHE!!! Solo shot, 6-3 Piratres. His double just missed being a HR, and he has 3 taters in his last 6 AB
  22. Career-Ending? Most likely. Either that or he just won't be much good against Washington this weekend.
  23. They're saying it's a sprain for Bill Hall. No word on how long he'll be out.
  24. Jack Wilson Ks, 2 out.
  25. Whoever led off the bottom of the 6th flew out deep to the track.
