  1. Not working for me. Every time I voted, I just used the new popup window that came up when I clicked the link a couple pages back in this thread, and every time I closed the window after voting, I cleared cookies and re-opened. I've also just opened new windows and browsed to the page myself. Not happening from here.
  2. Thanks jkrapfl - based on everything you said, I'm almost positive that leaving work and getting back home is all I need to do. My other concern though, is that with that big disclaimer saying that voting is only one of many factors used for selection, a Vance landslide of epic proportions would encourage them to throw the results out. It also concerns me that, upon completion of the voting for yesterday's candidates, they didn't show the results. Regardless, Vance will be getting multiple hundred more votes this evening while I listen to Marshall pull the Cubs out of their funk.
  3. If he really has that injury and he really hasn't told anyone about it, then I doubt he and Giles will be so close anymore.
  4. What are you doing to clear your cookies? I'm going to tools/internet options and clicking delete cookies. I have also tried deleting files and all offline content as well, but cubs.com is still recognizing me as having voted for vance already. Beyond those steps, I'm pretty illiterate in terms of clearing the footprints on my computer, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  5. Can someone post a link to yesterday's results? I was looking for the numbers and couldn't find them. I think someone said earlier that around 3,800 votes were cast yesterday, and today is already up over 4,000. If I figure out how to clear my cookies properly, that number could double soon.
  6. What are the chances that this is the problem with IE also? Is there a way around it? If so, please enlighten. The hours of today are ticking away.
  7. His pride in the 100K votes for DLEE! in 05 is probably a double-edged sword, as it probably went a long way to help him get selected, and it also probably tipped the Cubs off to his style of shenanigans. However, it's not just Vance. When I clear my cookies, it won't even let me vote for anyone else either, though I will no longer risk a vote going through for a non-vance candidate. That old lady is pretty tempting though, so if the Cubs end up implementing executive decision against the voting that will most likely be in Vance's favor, I hope she is the one they pick.
  8. His BABIP is about 80 points higher than it should be. His line against RHP is .293/.325/.484/.809 So he's just pretty good against RHP, that's good to know. If his numbers against LHP ever drop even to just 98-02 Sosa levels, he might get held to less than 600 HR in his career.
  9. this is my only question. i'm not sure if a strong, accurate arm is more valuable in right, as most hits or fly balls with risp actually go to left. i don't know if having your best arm in right is conventional wisdom or statistically backed up. i've asked this question before. I think the primary benefit is in regard to the throw to third. The best arm being in right field allows for an inferior arm to have an easier time making an accurate throw to third from left. In terms of throwing to the plate though, I would imagine that you're right about left being a better spot for the arm.
  10. I'm on IE in class (and gov restrictions prohibit us from d/l-ing or installing any software), so when I get home, I shall resume Vancing the crap out of this vote on Firefox.
  11. In that Piniella fluff piece on Cubs.com a week or so ago, they were saying that Lou's back was really sore after throwing a base, so he probably wouldn't do that one anymore :(
  12. So far I'm sure that at least three votes have gone thru. I'll be able to rack up some more during lunch.
  13. In the popup window confirming your vote, it gives who you voted for and the time. Does that time keep updating too? It's not for me.
  14. Make sure to check the time that it says your vote for Vance has been registered. That time hasn't changed for me since my first vote, so I don't think that even closing the browser is helping. You may not be able to vote more than once from any computer. Luckily, there are 12 extra computers across the street from me that I'll be able to commit to Vance's cause in about an hour. And nine more in my classroom.
  15. This is true, but with the difficulties in voting twice, it seems like it should be pretty automated and straight forward. You would also think that the Cubs will find it in their best interest to go with the fan vote, since that's pretty much the basis of the entire concept.
  16. It's not registering additional votes. I'm deleting my cookies, closing my browser, deleting all files to include offline content, and it's still saying that my vote was already cast ten minutes ago. Looks like stacking this thing is going to take a little more than that.
  17. Also, do we know how many votes yesterday's winner got?
  18. Before I go on my voting rampage (my ten votes so far has barely scratched the surface), deleting the cookies is all it takes, and our votes will continue to be registered? Are we sure of this? Is there any chance they have found a way around that?
  19. I think the problem in going with northsidehoops with the Bulls not playing on the northside is that the site will be immediately pre-determined to be a Cubs fan site. I'm all about that, so maybe it's not even a problem, but if that were the goal, then you could just add a non-baseball chicago sports forum to this site and call it a day. I think if you're going to go ahead and give it a whole new site, you should market toward the fans of the team (which includes Sox fans, unfortunately) and give it a name that doesn't include all the Cubs bias that the name of this site contains.
  20. If I recall correctly, Lou's tirade was the end of a losing streak that was in the neighborhood of 8 games. 2 has been the longest since then, in over two months. Let's keep it that way.
  21. I'm already late for work and a little hung over from my birthday last night, but I dropped by and put five votes in first. I'll be submitting plenty more from work. As long as they don't make like the Monroe newspaper, you should be a lock.
  22. Our offense is full of right-handed hitters facing a crappy lefty with a short porch in left field, and they manage to score once on an RBI groundout thru seven. I love this team.
  23. What's Hill's PC up to? He seems to be about as efficient as we've seen him all year. Hopefully the offense wakes up and gets him the deserved W.
  24. Third base, one out, Lee and Ramirez up. They've already blown this once. Can't happen again, can it??
  25. One would definitely think, yea. One would definitely think that a team would have done so by now, after having so many at-bats with RISP.
