  1. This doesn't surprise me at all. A team can't sustain winning like that for long periods of time. You can't just win a bunch of come from behind games and really close games and expect it to continue forever.
  2. I don't know if I have mentioned this on this board before but I love Kyle Farnsworth. And Balsa, I'm sorry about you never seeing the video. That was one of the funniest things I have seen on a baseball field.
  3. This is a good question. I searched BP, and couldn't find any formula. Their book from 2004 had a whole section explaining what it meant and yet they never showed how they got the numbers.
  4. Wow, that's good to hear. Hopefully some of them will sign up.
  5. Sounds like Luis likes AA ball. :D I'm about to post the box from Mesa. I picked up NCAA 2006 today and I got a bit sidetracked.
  6. Francis Beltran. He was traded to the Expos and is now out for the year with some sort of shoulder tear. Not sure who biittner is talking about but I think he would remember Francis.
  7. Iowa: LHP John Koronka (7-6, 4.22) vs. RHP Danny Tamayo (4-6, 5.44) Daytona, West Tenn, or Boise don't have anything listed. Also, a few notes from the Boise game summary from last night. Notes: Jeff Culpepper was called up to play for the Cubs affiliate in Peoria…Alfred Joseph and Jake Muyco left the game early with injuries…..There is no word yet on the severity of the injuries… Kyle Reynolds had the night off so his hit streak remains at six games.
  8. So Fuld is rated higher defensively than Pie? That can't be right, can it? It isn't. I looked in my magazine when I saw that and Pie was rated as the best defensive outfielder. Here is a link to confirm it. link I don't know what they were looking at...
  9. How is VORP calculated? I have always wondered how the value of a player can be calculated but have never seen a formula.
  10. BABIP is batting average on balls in play. Also, it is used to show how lucky a player is. Their line drive percentage can be used to show what their expected BABIP is supposed to be. If a hitter has a BABIP that is much higher than expected, they are probably not going to keep their batting average that high. A prime example of this would be Richard Lewis last year. He had a ridiculously high BABIP and had a career year. While everyone was happy about his numbers, they were worried about how lucky he had been. Well, this year he has been slightly unlucky but it is had to not be when you are hitting below .200. The formula for BABIP: (H-HR)/(AB+SH+SF-SO-HR)

  12. why? they're both young, toolsy, raw cf'ers who lack plate discipline and will both be rushed to the majors and yanked around in the batting order. it's actually a pretty good comparison, and you'd think the cubs would have learned from the mistakes they made w/ patterson. What mistakes? Pie has played almost a whole year at each level up through AA so far...and succeeded at each level. Comparing his rise through the minors and Pattersons is not really accurate at all. The Cubs could bring up Pie to end this season and I wouldn't feel like he was being rushed at all. Patterson was brought up after only having real good success at low A and skipping levels. Way different. He was saying that if he got brought up this year he would be rushed. I think this is true since he is not ready for the majors yet. There are still some things that he needs to work on, with a staff that will actually help him, before he should enter the show.
  13. I think I am going to go with this... 1. Felix Pie 2. Sean Marshall 3. Ryan Harvey 4. Scott Moore 5. Brian Dopirak 6. Rich Hill 7. Mark Pawelek 8. Ronny Cedeño 9. Matt Murton 10. Carlos Marmol 11. Renyel Pinto 12. Billy Petrick 13. Sean Gallagher 14. Eric Patterson 15. Brandon Sing
  14. These are some ugly numbers outside of his season at Arizona. Add to the fact that he was several years older than the league average and that this is his 5th year at high or low A ball and his numbers seem much, much less impressive. Oh yeah, he also moved to left field from shortstop, which decreases his value plenty.
  15. You realize that Dusty would sub in Macias in the 7th as a defensive replacement if he started, right?
  16. All of that time sitting around and doing nothing hurt him maybe?
  17. You aren't going to get that prospect back if what Vance is saying is true.

  19. All boxes have been posted. Looks like Harvey is starting to heat up. 4 homers in the last week including one yesterday and today.
  20. YAY DOPE!!! Hopefully he can build off of this.
  21. We are past the half point now in all of the full season leagues so what is your list? I am not quite sure yet but I am interested to see what everone else thinks.

  23. How long before he's a Boisie Hawk? I'm guessing he stays in Mesa for the rest of this year. They probably want to limit the amount of pitches that he throws this year and make sure that his mechanics are sound. He would probably start out at Peoria next year.
  24. I would rather hold on to Moore, at this point, than Pinto or EPatt.
