  1. Because one is grovelling to an attention whore and the other is a standard holdout negotiation. So what. That has nothing to do with the desperation. Teams get desperate when their best player isn't in the building. Bruschi and others acted like most successful franchises wouldn't be that desperate.
  2. It's becoming the thing to do. Send people down and stroke the ego, kiss the butay, whatever. Buy the guy something and tell him how much you love him, I don't know. Vikes did it with Favre, now the Jets with Revis. Probably other cases out there. Seems silly to me, but then those teams that do it have experienced success with those players, so whatever puts wins up on the board.........that's what gets done. Yeah I don't really care. I was just commenting on how Childress and the Vikings got blasted for being desperate but I never heard it mentioned in the Revis situation. Every team in the league is desperate for their best player.
  3. I'm wondering why I'm not seeing Bruschi and others ranting about how desperate the Jets must be to have their head coach and owner fly down to meet with a player and beg him to come back to camp.
  4. Oregon State is the only chance. The WAC is awful. how much is the coaches poll worth in the BCS? If Boise State goes undefeated, I'd expect 3 of the 4 teams above them to lose at some point this year. If South Florida was able to make it to number 2 before (albeit in a BCS conference), I'm sure BSU can. They might get there at some point but if there are 2 undefeated teams from BCS leagues they'll definitely be jumped.
  5. I only saw two questionable calls down the stretch. The block in the back looked clean on replay. The late hit was a terrible call but it helped VT. Their defense was awful on that drive and they probably weren't getting a stop anyways. It at least gave them more time.

  7. It'd be awesome if it were for the National Championship. Yuck. I wish Va. Tech's o-line could block somebody. At least now we may have a game.
  8. It's been my biggest football pet peeve for years. I wish I could have come up with a better phrase than pet peeve though.
  9. ridiculous Every time a new stud comes on the market (or holds out I guess) he becomes the highest paid X player ever. I don't think it means all that much. it's ridiculous because he's not THAT good. he just got a ton of media hype last year and has parlayed into a huge payday, but it's not like he's going to win 3 games for them Actually he is that good. He's definitely the best CB in the league. I can't quantify that into games won, but he's been a stud since his rookie year and has only gotten better.
  10. I really want to hate the Jets, but after watching Hard Knocks I can't. The whole organization is kind of full of meat heads but they're honest, funny and likable. Except Sanchez. He's a douche.
  11. What were his "lapses"? I haven't seen an inning in a week and haven't read anything in that time frame either. Obviously he should be playing now but if he was getting some lazy/bad habits or not focusing, this isn't the worst time to try to send a message. Do it when he's 20, more grounded and we have no chance at doing anything. Just don't do it for more than 2 games. And that's only if it was really something where a manager needs to intervene.
  12. No. My guess is you have Red Zone and Red Zone HD. You get the Red Zone Channel which will flip around to any game where a team has the ball in the red zone and/or the most interesting games. DirecTV Sunday Ticket is still the only way to watch entire out of market games on tv.
  13. Exactly. Pat Hill and Fresno wanted respect so they would basically play anyone, anywhere with no return game. Now it hasn't worked out for them but they were never quite on Boise's recent level. If Boise wants to be in the discussion, they need to play a legit team on the road every year given their cakewalk in the last 8 weeks.
  14. Recently they've just been asking for a single game with no return date and have been getting turned down. Recently? The Nebraska thing was just this past spring. You're saying they've been asking for 1 game at someone else's place with no return trip to Boise? Do you have a link for that? Not saying you're wrong, but I haven't seen anything like that anywhere.
  15. I wouldn't say never but in most years I agree. in most years everyone agrees, but there are years when LSU has two losses and plays for a championship, or utah runs the table and looks great while doing so, or boise state topples national power oklahoma. so why don't these teams deserve a shot? It's even worse because when teams like Boise try to schedule powerhouses from BCS schools in their nonconference schedules, 99% of the teams [expletive] out. And because those teams, no matter how good they are, never get a fair chance at a national title, they're automatically handicapped in recruiting. It's ridiculous. I hate the BCS so much. Well it's not exactly like that. Boise wants teams who want to schedule a true home and home with them. That doesn't make sense for any top 10-15 program. Nebraska offered a 2 (in Lincoln) for 1 (in Boise) series with them and Boise doesn't want any part of it.
  16. I wouldn't say never but in most years I agree. Boise plays 2 games per year that are equivalent to BCS conference teams. They usually play one of them the first game of the year and always have one of them at home. At least TCU has a couple of legit teams in their conference but it's still not in the same league as what the contenders from the SEC, Big Ten, Big 12 have to play.
  17. Josh McDaniels is out of control. The personnel moves since he arrived are just baffling. Give up a 1st round pick the next year so you can trade into the 2nd round for a CB and then cut him the next year. Nice. Cut a DE whom you gave $3.3M to not even play a regular season down. Cut your 4th round G from last year who was the starter in the spring and outperformed the 6th round guy you kept this year. Cut the TE who was supposed to be Scheffler's replacement. The list goes on and on. The Denver Post calls the collection of moves bizarre and shocking. The guy is a total disaster in every way and Pat Bolen is the only one who can't see it.
  18. The back up QB behind Favre doesn't matter much. They'll probably need to worry about the QB next year but I'm sure they could find someone better then Sage or Jackson anyways. I hope so. I've felt Tarvaris is a little better than most give him credit for but he's had the worst preseason of his career. Not just the numbers, he's looked atrocious. Everyone said he looked far better in training camp but he was awful in game situations. TJack is Chilly's guy and he was dead set on him being the #2 regardless of what happened this preseason.
  19. Vikings trade Sage Rosenfels to the Giants for future conditional draft picks even though he looked 8,000x better than Tarvaris this preseason.
  20. Yeah it was clearly a touchdown and that was the worst possible signal the ref could have made. I'm pretty sure no official has ever indicated a ball was that short by using that gesture. I think Kiffin just wants to be like a bad guy in pro wrestling. I refuse to believe that anyone could be such a prick/douche naturally. Especially when he has a dad who seems completely opposite.
  21. He's not leaving for another college job. The NFL is still a possibility I suppose but it would have to be the perfect situation. He'll be 58 when his son (starting center) graduates and I don't know how many teams will be all that keen on hiring a 58+ year old college coach.
  22. Not with Dasher out. Yeah I think Minnesota at -1 is a great deal. Not sure which way I would go on Pitt/Utah. Iowa extended Ferentz through 2020 and gave him a raise.
  23. Do they lose a lot? I have no idea what the makeup of their roster is. Iowa loses QB, TE, LG, WRx2, entire DL, one LB and one S. This division is up in the air next year. Is Binns going somewhere after this season? Outside of the 3 DL and possibly both S, they're not losing an overwhelming amount of talent at those other positions. And yes, I realize that's half of their defense. You're right, don't know why I included Binns. Hunter will be a loss at WLB after being a solid 3-year starter. MLB may not be too much of a dropoff. I don't see Sash going pro after this year, especially if he doesn't get as many fortunate INT's. I would like to see if Bernstine can transition back to FS to replace Greenwood. Still when you lose all of the skill positions on offense outside of RB and over half of your defense (including the biggest strength of this year's team) you're probably taking a step back.
  24. Do they lose a lot? I have no idea what the makeup of their roster is. Iowa loses QB, TE, LG, WRx2, entire DL, one LB and one S. This division is up in the air next year. I don't know, I don't have a very high opinion of what they have. Nevermind just looked at their schedule. They play at PSU, at Wisconsin and Ohio State at home for their 3 crossover games. Yikes.
  25. What's that bye week thingy they have on the schedules? ? It's a bye week. They've expanded the season to the weekend after Thanksgiving so everyone has a bye.
