  1. Sheehan says that would have been another acceptable spot for Schwarber. Lord.
  2. who the hell said that? Cameron is carrying on about it, and some Cubs writers are at least pondering the question And Sheehan.
  3. Just get one tomorrow with Lester vs. short rest Bauer. Get it to Cleveland with Jake vs. short rest Tomlin. Then you've got one game with Kyle vs. Kluber for the 3rd time in 8 days.
  4. Prior to last night's game, USSoccer was taking heat for thinking that the wind blowing out would negatively affect the approach of our young hitters. I didn't think it would, but watching the game and looking at the percentage of swings they took at pitches outside of the zone, I think that's exactly what happened. Being beaten outright I can accept, but giving away a game you should win by abandoning the approach that brought you success all year is just infuriating. Who takes responsibility for this - players, Mallee, Maddon, front office? Do we need to assign blame? It's a very young team that was pressing against very good pitching. The front office, Joe and the hitting coach? They won 103 games and are struggling in the World Series. What "responsibility" are you looking for?
  5. I can't believe people think he actually could/should have scored on that.
  6. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/the-incredible-comeback-of-kyle-schwarber-world-series-hero-and-secret-draft-room-weapon-072549932.html Disagree. I think that's gonna be Willson. No way of really answering it and that's possible. Just opinion and projection but Passan also tweeted this: [tweet] [/tweet]
  7. I've seen/heard references several times throughout the year that there is much less of a divide between the Latin players and American-born players on this team than normal. This quote was in Mooney's Contreras article: http://www.csnchicago.com/chicago-cubs/willson-contreras-apologizes-cubs-fans-twitter-and-again-makes-his-presence-felt-world
  8. The whole Passan article was great but this quote is worth singling out: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/the-incredible-comeback-of-kyle-schwarber-world-series-hero-and-secret-draft-room-weapon-072549932.html
  9. No I personally wouldn't, but he's been struggling. And for the record, not that my opinion matters, I wouldn't start Soler. In the 3 games prior to last night he was 6-13 with 2 home runs.
  10. [tweet] [/tweet] It's so incredible. I alternate from having a huge smile to tearing up.
  11. Why do you want the roster expanded? I don't want more pitchers and more pitching changes.
  12. You're the man BCVM22. Now who has some good hi-res pics for a desktop background? horsefeathering incredible.
  13. Zimmer is the man and the Vikings defense is just nasty.
  14. What a good man and kind soul who clearly impacted countless people. Some great stories that really reinforce the kind of person he always seemed to be. Condolences to his family and all of you who knew him well. He'll be greatly missed and it's fitting that the game thread forum has been renamed. Thanks to Tim and everyone like Fred who have made this site a fun and informative community and huge part of my Cubs fandom over the last 13 years.
  15. Really? Why? Because he's been solid as a 21-23 year old and was progressing very well. Much better than box score scouts give him credit for. He also has every leadership intangible that you want in a QB. Gave up a lot for Bradford but he's good enough in combination with the rest of this team to keep them contenders. Hopefully when he inevitably gets hurt it's short term and Hill can step in for a couple games.
  16. This is the worst, I horsefeathering love Teddy.
  17. [tweet] [/tweet]
  18. Anyone have good hi-res pictures from last night? That game is worthy of new desktop background status.
  19. [tweet] [/tweet][tweet] [/tweet]
  20. He's such a flat line player. He and Javy are so fun to watch while having some totally contrasting traits.
