    And after he just made that "keep talking" gesture after crossing home plate tonight this topic won't be going away. I like Milton. I think he's a little unbalanced, overly sensitive and plays the victim too often. But he plays hard, is a pretty smart player and always seemed to be well liked by teammates. Plus it's always good to throw a crazy a-hole into the mix of a bunch of nice guys. Just realize that complaining about the fans and making a gesture like that will only make it worse for yourself with the fans and media. If you really don't give a [expletive], cool. But he obviously does.

    his one completion was into double coverage :-)) I know, it was so much worse than that INT that Cutler threw last week or the ball he threw right at the Buffalo LB's chest. I love how preseason games are only meaningless when it's your team or player looking bad. When your guy/team looks great it's okay to get all excited again. I just like to make fun of the massive douche that is Brett Favre.. who said anything about meaningless preseason games? Orton throws 3 INT's in the first preseason game: "LOLOLOL have fun with that Denver. Cutler sucks." Cutler throws a horrible INT and throws another ball right between the numbers of a LB: "It's just the preseason, he's fine. He won't make those throws in the regular season once he's settled in." Favre goes 1-4: "LOL and he threw it into double coverage"

    I would have agreed if it weren't for their Fed Ex connection which has helped deliver a ton of money and great facilities. I think Pastner will keep them about as relevant as Gonzaga. They'll fly around to play tough teams in the non-conference, clean up in conference and have a handful of Sweet 16's. The question is how much of Memphis's success was their facilities and how much was their skirting of the rules. There's no big name coach to save them anymore, Memphis continues what they've been doing they're [expletive]. This is true.

    That was impressive. The extra point didn't just go in, it looked like something from an actual kicker. And the kickoff went to the 8 with good height.

    Typically unless you have what's about a top 3-4 QB in the league, you're either going to have a guy who takes chances down field or into tight spots and throws a few too many INT's or a guy who is frustrating because he's always checking down, playing it safe and having a low YPA.

    Wearing down toward the end of the year but continuing to play is probably my biggest fear. Best case scenario is that he plays well for about 8-9 weeks (only throwing 23-28 times per game) then gets hurt badly enough that he has to miss about a month but can come back. Sage can fill in fine for a handful of games and Favre comes back refreshed for a playoff run. Of course he probably won't let the streak die unless his career is over.

    It doesn't matter. If they release him they don't owe him anything. He has $6M guaranteed automatically for this year and most likely the full $12M. Beyond that he gets nothing unless he's on the roster opening day next September.

    This isn't baseball, contracts aren't guaranteed. He doesn't see a dime of the 2nd year money unless he's on the roster on opening day September 2010. They don't owe him anything if they release him.

Favre is going to get a lot of opportunities and looks that he hasn't gotten before. Teams are still probably going to put 8 in the box on 1st and 2nd down and make him beat them. The coaches (and Favre) can't fall in love with the pass and get away from what they do best.

    Which doesn't impact him at all nor does it put him at a higher risk for injury which is what I was disputing. It helps him if anything. I disagree with a lot of the numbers.

I'm sure there will always be cold weather cities with grass fields, but I'm not surprised that increasingly cold weather cities with open air stadiums are converting to Fieldturf. It feels so much like grass but doesn't get completely ripped up with bad weather like grass tends to do. In a few years I would expect there to be only about 2-3 teams left with grass in the northern half of the country. Yeah, I've walked on it. It's junk compared to grass. Doesn't make me think of the word "incredible" in the least. What makes it junk? I've been on 3 fields that have field turf from high school/small college to Division 1. It feels just like grass, has great support and holds up much, much better than natural grass. Why do you think so many teams have switched even though it's often more expensive? Compare it to the problems the Bears had with Soldier Field later on last year. It's much better than a frozen, chewed up or soggy natural grass field.

Slightly worse than some of the outdoor Field Turf fields but definitely nothing unusual. I think what he means is, even if its average field turf, it's still turf, and therefore garbage. But all of the research has shown that field turf is not any worse than natural grass and some feel it can be better on joints. It's why so many college and pro teams have made the switch after they all started to avoid astroturf like the plague. Favre is 40 and very likely could break down. But it won't be as a result of the field.

    It sounds to me like it was an open secret in the locker room that he would join the team after training camp. Guys knew it, and knowing who their QB options were, they were probably happy about it. Possibly. Apparently Glazer was actually getting legit info from a couple of guys. Maybe I'm just overestimating how much guys will be upset that he was able to weasel out of camp entirely. There were stories last year about the resentment in the locker room toward him because of the special treatment he received. Well he's either going to thrive because he's in the dome with some weapons on the outside, best running game in the league and a top 5 defense and the team will be thrilled and make us a better team than Sage can OR he's going to cost us a bunch of games with turnovers, get hurt and play through it, stink and sabotage the year entirely.

    Jaws apparently says the Vikes are the team to beat and Gruden is echoing that. I don't see it. I was saying before he "retired" that I thought he had more upside and could have bought into that. Now I just see more downside. He missed camp, the locker room was told he wasn't coming and now they know that he's being treated on a level above everyone else. The only thing that would make it okay with me is if Rosenfels' injury is more serious than initially looked. He hasn't practiced the last couple days. And Jackson has looked awful since his injury.

    Ugh this pisses me off. This could completely divide the locker room and sabotage the season. I was fine with it until he made the decision to retire again before training camp. Then the coaches said it was dead. Now that camp is over and he wants to come back (which I expected) they do a 180 and accept it? That's bunk. Good luck getting that locker room to ever trust and buy in now Childress. [expletive]

    I have to think Glazer had some angle he was working by putting this out there. Why didn't he write this piece after he actually visited the Vikings training camp? The one quote was that some unnamed player said it was a done deal and would happen right after the Colts game. That was Friday, he wrote this Monday. Childress, Bevell and the front office keep saying it's all over and they had that talk with the team when camp opened. I just get the feeling Favre or his people had Glazer put this out there to see what the reception would be or if the Vikings would reach out to him or something.

    Exactly. That Brett Favre guy seemed to have a pretty decent career, if thats what we get from Cutler, I guess its ok............... I mean not everyone can be a Sage Rosenfels, or a Tavaris Jackson. Of course you would be that guy... By the way I believe Rusch is a Cowboys fan.

I don't mind the 10-15 INTs, as long as he is throwing 25-30 TDs. So what? So did Favre. By the way you just backed up the point of the guy you originally disagreed with. Someone said Cutler would likely force passes all year long. You said once he got comfortable you didn't think he would. Now you just said he might because he has a lot of confidence. You also said the most passes a Bears QB has thrown was 480. Last year the Bears threw 528 times and they'll probably increase that number simply because they have a legit QB now. So if he's healthy he'll probably throw 525-550 times this year. At his normal percentage that would put him at 16-18 interceptions. Which again is not a terrible thing when he's giving you everything else he can do. People were just saying you should expect that. What's your point with this? To remind us poor stupid Bear fans that Cutler will throw INTs because we can't figure out that he willl? I haven't heard anyone on here saying Cutler won't throw INTs. Did you read the thread? Read what Red Flash was saying originally. That was the point.
