Oh I know it. It was frustration from sitting through another Big Ten loss where we felt like the road team in a home game. All that aside, McCamey is a hell of a nice player and I would kill to have him at Iowa but I wouldn't put him in the top 10 this year and would take Lucas and Battle over him. Hughes is close because I think he's a better defender. As far as McCamey's play last night, imagine you were playing Purdue and Kramer rolled around slamming the floor like he had a broken nose. Then when the officials should have let it play out, they blow the whistle while we have a 5 on 4 and he immediately gets up, walks down the court perfectly fine and never leaves the game.

I never said he won't be drafted, he'll probably be a 2nd rounder. I'm quoting the top 3 sources for NBA Draft coverage and none of them have him in the top 100 currently. I would gladly bet that he'll never be a lottery pick. Or a top 20 pick. We could do some kind of cheesy internet wager or $100 to the charity of the winner's choice. I'll take a top 20 vs. not-drafted bet, in the middle nobody wins. I'm down with that. Okay clearly Oliver wasn't that close. Apparently I had selective memory when it came to his shooting. He did have a great senior year outside of 2FG though. His tempo free stats were solid.

Can we please bet on whether Demetri gets drafted? Please? i think the only question is which year. good passer, good shooter, fast/quick, high dribbler, strong, athletic, and big. that's pretty much the total package in terms of the nba. I think he comes back next year, cause he's got potential for 'BTPOY/Lottery pick in '11. Right now, I think he's fringe 1st round/early 2nd. Also, I can't handle to watch that much Jeff Jordan next year, so please DMac, for me. He doesn't appear on Chad Ford's top 100 or top 30 at PG. He does not appear on NBA Draft Net's top 100 for the 2010 draft. Nor is he among their top 30 PG prospects. Is not projected in the '10 or '11 draft by Draft Express. Yeah that all sounds like a 1st round pick to me or lottery man next year. Search for "Demetri McCamey, mock draft" and see what you find. I'm not saying those are all definitive but when NO ONE is talking about him now, I have no idea why you think he could be a first round pick in 4 months. He's big, strong and a good passer. Fast/quick? Not by NBA standards. Good shooter? Nope. Good defender? Not really. I can't recall seeing such a homerific group of people in one place on one issue.

I'm talking about as a college player. Woolridge was better by just about any measure. Per game stats? Check. Tempo free stats? Check. Considered better among his peers by coaches/media? Check. He played with worse talent around him and carried them to a 2nd place finish in the Big Ten. And the champions of that year were vacated because they cheated. If McCamey can do something similar in his career at Illinois we'll talk.
-
By the way Draft Express doesn't have McCamey being drafted in '10 or '11.
-
1. so you were wrong, eh? of course you were. 2. hardly, now that i think about it, woolridge isn't nearly in mccamey's league. mccamey is a big guard that will play in the nba after being drafted by a nba team. and illinois has had several players on one team that were better than mccamey. dean oliver? lmfao, nope. tyler smith quickly realized that he played for iowa and to avoid embarassment, transferred to a school with even less basketball tradition than iowa. 3. i never called illinois a "basketball school", although they probably should abandon the illusion of a football program. by the way, who won the last football game? who last played in the rose bowl? won an outright conference championship? LOL. Woolridge wasn't in McCamey's league? He led the league in scoring and assists. His tempo free numbers were also better than McCamey's despite not having the supporting cast. Objectively he ranks better. He was 1st team All Big Ten in a strong league and runner-up for POY. Mac won't sniff that. He carried a bad team to a 2nd place finish. Mac won't do that either. Oh and Woolridge wasn't a total idiot or vag either. Nice halfcourt lob pass off the backboard last night. Less than a minute left, my team up 3 with a fresh shot clock, I'll heave it off the backboard and out of bounds. Intelligence. Honestly why do you guys think he's so good? Lucas, Battle and Hughes are all better. He's not top 10 in the league.

He's also a huge vagina. Lay down on the floor to get a whistle and immediately when they blow it he gets up and walks around perfectly fine and stays in the game. If you have to draw an injury whistle you should have to come out of the game. Whatever, credit to Illini fans for showing up and taking away any homecourt advantage. Now I know what it feels like to be a Minnesota or Northwestern football fan. But damn that was the most annoying game I've ever attended. At least I can take solace in the fact that Illinois is a basketball school that will have gone 5 years without winning a tournament game. And you have a football coach who can't do anything but recruit and he's not even good at that anymore. iowa hasn't had a player like mccamey in 20 years. irrelevant programs don't have players like him. He's good but he's also a vagina. Woolridge was better. Dean Oliver was close. Tyler Smith was more talented. The problem you're missing is that Illinois is a basketball school. A basketball school with a basketball team that's been irrelevant for almost 5 years now. You're looking at 5-6 years without winning an NCAA game. And your football program is being led by a guy who is a punchline nationally and can't even recruit anymore. This has been a rough couple of weeks huh? Love that you're claiming Tyler Smith as your own now that he's abandoned Iowa basketball and gone to bigger and better things at a Tennessee courthouse. Dean Oliver??? If DMac has the professional career of Dean Oliver, that means he died on the court at some point next season. Although, I enjoyed this from his wikipedia: Illinois is now on a 5 game winning streak against Iowa in football/basketball games. (Yeah our national joke beat Iowa's powerhouse program last time they played in football) At least you've got John Lickliter to lead you for the next 2 years, Payne for 3!!! McCamey is maybe the 3rd best PG (I would put him 4) in the league and not even a top 10 player in the Big Ten. Oliver was a very similar college player. Look at the numbers. I don't know why you guys think he's so good. McCamey probably will have a pro career where he bounces around overseas.

Since sulley wants to talk Iowa/Illinois football in here... I see Illinois had the 70th best class in the country according to Rivals. At least we know the Zooker can coach them up and get the most out of them when they make it on campus.

This will likely be the 4th straight year without an NCAA win and by next March it will have been 5 calendar years. 2) You said they haven't had a player of McCamey's level in 20 years. They've had several, more than I even listed. 3) Yes it is the basketball thread. You like to talk about how Iowa is irrelevant so I pointed out that Illinois has been irrelevant also. Which is more embarrassing when you're a "basketball school".

They didn't outnumber them and it wasn't that close. It was like 100 vs. 500. The problem was that their 100 were louder.
-
Oh and your coaches are idiots for having superior athletes everywhere but having a defense that gave us open looks from 3 so often. We hit them in the first half, second half we didn't have as many open looks but missed all of the ones we had.

I love it. They didn't offer 4-star Andrew Donnal from their own backyard (going to Iowa) because they were sure they would get one or more of the big fish.
-
Yeah that seems to be more of an SEC trait.
-
Well he's a physical specimen and probably will be playing some role next year. From what I've read he may struggle blocking next year as most true freshman do. But he'll probably slot in as the 2nd or 3rd TE and will be part of the offense next year.
-
A little surprised that Illinois is only a 4.5 point favorite tonight. Though I guess Pomeroy only has them winning by 6. A loss tonight would really put them in a tough spot for their next 5. So let's win.
-
No you see the Pacers way is to win enough games to screw up their lottery chances and end up picking 11th or so. :-)) But this team might be able to tank it to an extent unseen in Naptown in many years. That's what I'm worried about with the Pistons. They're not a good team and have had some injuries but still have underachieved. They're around 5 now but they'll probably mess it up and pick around 10 or so and be stuck taking Ekpe Udoh to fill their void inside.
-
Yep. Iowa probably has their best class since 2005 even though they're ranked 40 by Rivals. Four 4-star guys, four 2-star guys (one is a kicker) and 13 3-star guys. 7 of those 13 have a 5.7 Rivals ranking which is the highest possible 3-star. More importantly than stars they beat out a lot of good schools. On the topic though, I've never gotten the whole appeal of signing day. At least not since the development of sites like Rivals and Scout. There are a few surprises but over 90% stay with their decision. It's just guys signing a letter and faxing it in.

Saw that today. Helps explain why he wasn't eager to run on that last play. A football player has bruises? Stop the presses! Yep, those were just your run of the mill bruises. Every player on the field has those every game. Especially the guys who don't miss a game for 300+ consecutive starts.
-
Pretty amazing after that 3-31 stretch they had in the Big Ten in '07 and '08 that Carmody was able to pull this off.

The Pace/Faulk lines really aren't much worse than his assessment of Bruce. And Proehl already had 6 years with 55+ receptions averaging 786 yards. He wasn't just a slow white guy. His ego is just ridiculous. I already posted that the Martz hire is worth a shot given the Bears situation. But in STL he inherited Hall of Famers at WR, LT and RB which kind of helps. What he'll have with the Bears is closer to what he inherited with the 49ers or Lions. ...so a 4k yrd season from the likes of kitna? ok, yea. thats horrible. He put up big yardage because they threw the ball 600 times. He also got sacked 114 times in 2 years leading to 28 fumbles and had more INT's than TD's in both years. He didn't have good seasons under Martz. You guys watched those Lions teams. Cutler is obviously a hell of a lot more talented than Kitna. But he might not make it through the year alive if their o-line isn't better. well, one things for sure, he'll fumble a whole lot less then AP ouch Not bad.
