  1. I think Westbrook could be more useful in a Martz system than any sort of "hammer". And Forte plus a hammer would really be undynamic as a RB group. I'm just annoyed that none of our RBs run with any authority. Forte was so tentative this year. Hopefully it's injury related and he can bounce back from it. I think whatever Westbrook offers is the stuff that Forte still does well. Maybe we can trade Forte and get Chester Taylor. That'd be nice. Yeah I was thinking Westbrook would be a good fit for Martz but at this stage he's a bit redundant with Forte, though he may be a bit more dynamic. The same could be said for Taylor. I'm still hoping Chester realizes he's in an ideal situation in Minnesota at this point in his career.
  2. 2:00 central? Wow, what a great start time. Yeah it blows. I'll have to DVR and hope I can avoid hearing anything until I get home. The times for the other Wednesday games are good though. Russia/Canada will be at 6:30 and our next opponent Finland/Czech will be at 9. Sweden/Slovakia is the late game at 11.
  3. We play Wednesday at 2:00 then Friday at 2:00 both on NBC. Bronze medal game is at 9:15 Saturday on MSNBC and Gold medal game is 2:15 on Sunday.
  4. Side note, yesterday we watched a DVR'ed show called "Sid the Kid vs. Alexander the Great: Olympians". It was produced in Canada and aired on the NHLN later. At least 25 times the narrator and all of the Canadian experts talked about how great a Russia/Canada gold medal match would be and that they're the two favorites. Ha Ha.
  5. Yep. Russia was clearly a superior team to the Czechs yesterday. I've yet to see Finland play in the Olympics.. The Swiss are capable of beating us, though it would require us coming down to their level a bit which shouldn't happen after a bye. They played us tough the first time and took Canada to the shootout.
  6. Any idea when the 1 and 2 seeds play their quarterfinal games? EDIT: We would play at 2, 6:30 or 9 Wednesday. Then 2 or 8:30 on Friday. Bronze medal game is at 9 p.m. Saturday night on MSNBC (no HD again for DTV peeps) and Gold medal game is at 2 on Sunday.
  7. My God what a fantastic [expletive] game. Miller is the [expletive] man. How did Kesler put that in the net? Rafalski, wow. Go Sweden! If we get the 1 seed we would avoid Russia until the gold medal game. Do they re-seed after the quarters? If so that would eliminate Canada until then also.
  8. Got the fast start I asked for, wow. No commercials helps make up for the lack of HD. Thank God Miller was awesome but if they keep getting opportunities like they had in the 1st he doesn't have a chance.
  9. That game flipped in like 5 seconds, that was crazy. USA! USA!
  10. A fast start would be nice. After the Swiss performance I think that entire arena could get tight if we get out to a fast start.
  11. Nope it is a sign of things to come. 3-16 will be a regular night for him. Ignore everything else he has ever done and focus on that game.
  12. No HD for the USA/Canada game tomorrow for those of us with DirecTV. CNBC's Olympic Coverage ends at 7, the hockey game starts at 6:30. I get CNBC in HD. This is so lame.
  13. The pbp guy is about as knowledgable as I am. The problem today was they had that woman who didn't explain things very well instead of the old guy who is a stud.
  14. Shuster has been benched and replaced by an alternate!
  15. And I'm really bummed that I've seen so much curling but have not seen the Russian women yet.
  16. That was absolutely the only thing I cared about. I think he'll still be back before The Masters.
  17. No, I don't think they can just do whatever they want. But it's still judged by humans, which is ridiculous for any sport. It's why the moguls event was disappointing even though the action itself is quite cool (blowing away figure skating). now you're the one dealing in subjectivity. skiing, imso, is awesome to do but moguls are incredibly boring to watch. i prefer the downhill and super g. and i'd rather watch skating than some made-up subjective nonsensical sport like halfpipe even though i enjoy snowboarding, too. I agree. I love hockey and skiing outside of moguls. No interest in snowboarding. Generally I don't watch figure skating but that was pretty good last night. For those types of events, the broadcasters make a big difference and the figure skating crew is great. Disagree on curling. It's addicting to watch and the commentator is great.
  18. Shuster seemed kind of smug in the interview he had on CNBC. What an [expletive].
  19. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: So we got the original Knicks trade for T-Mac. Making it a 3-way basically means we traded Landry for Martin. Really don't like that and not just because I am biased towards Landry. Just at a quick glance it is obvious to me that it's not a good swap. Landry is a lot more efficient and costs a heck of a lot less. Basically we have up a more efficient player who fits our team for a player who is less efficient and costs a lot more. It only gets worse we you dig deeper. Martin is shooting under 40% and needs to dominate the ball to score. That basically means he and Brooks can't be on the court at the same time because both need to have the ball to be productive. Brooks excels on offense because he drives with speed and dishes if help comes over. So not only did we trade for a much less efficient player who costs more but he also doesn't fit our team well. We are also now thin at PF and our starter still doesn't match with Yao. They both are post scorers who both score by have some savvy post moves. This is why Scola disappears when Yao is in. Yao gets to post up and Scola doesn't have a very good jumper. Would you stop talking about how inefficient Kevin Martin is? He's been an extremely efficient player every year until this one where he's been battling injuries. Why can't Brooks drive and dish to Martin spotting up from 3 which he's great at? You completely ignored that Morey will be moving up in the 2011 draft and got a 1st rounder in 2012. There's also the possibility that they can make something out of a guy who was a lottery pick 8 months ago. The Rockets weren't going anywhere this year. It makes them a better team next year and beyond. Pretty much every basketball guy I've seen completely disagrees with you.
  20. The commentator rocks. He was absolutely disgusted with their decision. They opened the door wide open but then Deb had to pull a Shuster.
  21. That was an incredible failure. Incredible that she gave them 3 out of that. That one blunder clearly cost them the match.
  22. It's incredible. This guy was living in complete anonymity last week, headed for the highlight of his life. Now it's just groundhog day. Every day he blows a chance to win the game and becomes more infamous and hated across the country.
  23. Pull yourself, Shuster.
  24. Isn't that more like NBA purgatory rather than hell? NBA hell should be what the Bulls and Knicks have been for the past decade. The Bulls and Knicks haven't been very similar this decade though. When you're horrible in the NBA you at least have the potential to land a future star in the lottery if you get the breaks. NBA hell is being in that 4-7 seed range consistently. You know you aren't good enough to win a title but you also have little chance of getting a superstar in the draft and likely don't have a ton of space. At least that's my opinion.
  25. That was the worst intentional foul I've ever seen and I say that with no hyperbole. Last night Sims hit a 3 for Michigan with 5 seconds left to tie up the game with Iowa. On that shot he pulled his Reggie Miller, kick my feet out to draw contact and fell down. No foul was called. The interesting thing is that in the postgame Sims said Hightower told him that he would have called the foul if he missed the shot. Ed Hightower ladies and gentlemen.
