  1. I love this commentator for curling. Commentator- "He has to take it from 93 feet and place it within 2 inches. Not even Sandy Koufax the great pitcher was that good from 90 feet." American PBP guy- "It's 60 feet in baseball" Commentator- "Is it? Even the great Sandy wasn't that good from that distance so it tells you the precision" He later asked if calling the timeout was similar to "greasing the kicker in football"
  2. Okay Smith still sucks but Shuster has gotten it back. Came back from down 4-0 to tie it at 4-4 in the 7th. They got 2 in the 4th with the hammer then stole 1 in the 5th and 6th when the Swiss had the hammer.
  3. Shuster and Jason Smith [expletive] suck.
  4. They had 78 points on 66 possessions. 47% from the floor, 45% from 3, only 11 turnovers in 45 minutes and 11 offensive boards. Fuller was a beast, 30 points on 13 shots and 13 boards, 6 of them offensive. Gatens had 21 on 13 shots with 8 boards and 4 assists. Payne had 7 assists to 1 turnover. Just had no answer for Sims or Harris and they made some truly ridiculous shots. Up 5 with 22 seconds left you have to close it out. That loss sucked, they really played well. The 3-point play by Sims was disastrous and it sure as hell would have been nice to have gotten the call when Fuller got knocked down to end regulation. Thankfully the refs didn't fall for Sims' Reggie Miller kicking his foot out on those shots late.
  5. Anyone have video of the guy that won the D-League dunk contest whom Kenny Smith was talking up?
  6. Oh for the love of... Does it ever end?
  7. To be fair, Davis was actually worth a [expletive] last year also Isn't that the truth. He's been almost completely neutralized this season. Seriously, what happened to him this year?
  8. It would also probably assure that LeBron stays in Cleveland.
  9. What's there to complain about? You get to see every Big Ten basketball game, all football games, everything is in HD and this year they've really stepped up their programming during the week. The nightly shows during football season were fantastic. The only negative is that it causes some poor start times.
  10. Anthony Tucker will be released from his scholarship at Iowa today. He led them in scoring as a freshman last year before being found passed out in an alley and then being academically ineligible for the 2nd semester. This year he was arrested for public intox again after a drunken argument with a cabbie. Overall I think it's a positive if they replace him with Kaylon Williams though. He led the MVC in assists as a freshman at Evansville last year and would be the best defender on the team immediately. He's from Cedar Rapids and transferred from Evansville to a local JUCO with the hopes of moving up this year.
  11. I would still prefer Notre Dame just because they provide some of the branding power plus have the geographic advantage. Obviously Texas is as good as you could possibly do though.
  12. it was pretty ridiculous. hopefully it doesn't save lickliter's job. Who are you and why are you so clueless on everything you post? Good call on Illinois being a 7th place team that won't come close to making the tournament last week. What was pretty ridiculous? Yes shooting 3's against a 1-3-1 zone is absurd. Especially when you're getting wide open looks. As far as saving Lickliter's job, get a clue. He's here next year regardless of what happened in the Big Ten.
  13. Muhahahahaha Maybe the best overall game of the year. Really good defense until garbage time, took care of the ball and hit shots. Should have easily eclipsed 80 if Cully hits free throws down the stretch.
  14. Pomeroy only has Northwestern winning by 5 so it's not that far off. In the last two weeks at home Iowa led OSU for roughly 35 minutes and were down by 3 to Illinois with 1 minute left. I really hope we beat them tonight. And in Evanston. I also hope it comes on a fluke last-second shot. It's about time it happened to them. They've had about 5 of those this decade when they had an inferior team and Iowa had a tournament appearance or Big Ten title on the line. Topsy-turvy that mfer.
  15. http://deadspin.com/5468840/roy-williams-is-a-clueless-dick Video of the quote is included. I heard this talked about on the way home today. He shouldn't have said it but I'm not going to blast him for it. He's not saying that UNC's struggles are more important than the situation in Haiti. The situation at UNC hits him a hell of a lot harder than an earthquake in Haiti.
  16. Wow what a win for Illinois. Not sure why Wisconsin went into desperation mode down 4 with over 1:30 to play. Have to admit that I'm a total idiot for the McCamey discussion last Thursday. Then he plays like an absolute beast against MSU and Wisconsin. Great timing on my part.
  17. Is somebody even considering offering up that bet?
  18. I did not sat Harvin isn't a good player, I'm just saying his value isn't a point where you can say what you would or would not trade for him. As long as Favre is in Minnesota, Harvin is likely a 3rd/4th option in offense behind Peterson, Rice, and Pianscoe, which limits Harvin potential. Percy was thrown to 91 times and had 15 carries despite missing basically two games with migraines. Shank was targeted 79 times. As far as last year I'll make any bet you want that it wasn't the peak of his career with the Vikings. You name it. He was a 21 year old rookie WR who didn't play in a pro-style offense and wasn't even strictly a WR there. He still has a lot of untouched potential and will start to fade out Berrian in a few years.
  19. Good comparison...other than TD's, their stats are pretty close, and that's with Hester having not played for 3 games late in the season. I wonder why the perception out there is that he was pretty mediocre then. I know that's what my perception has been... Maybe some of our expectations were too high. Well Hester is 27, Percy is 21. Percy wasn't strictly a WR in high school or college either. Hester is at his best running go routes, now routes/bubble screens and slants. I think Harvin is more versatile and what really made him so impressive this year was freakish strength.
  20. It will either be Vikings at Saints or Steelers at Saints.
  21. I wanted the Colts to win but I also wanted them to pound the Saints for my own sanity. Then I could try to convince myself that while the last two weeks would have been much better, it still would have sucked to have gotten killed in the Super Bowl. Then I see how awful the Colts defense was last night and how poor they're tackling was. The Vikings offense would have had a [expletive] field day. I hate life again. That was the most miserable I've ever been watching the Super Bowl.
  22. Can I ask how Phil was able to tell that Freeney's ankle was clearly a big problem on the play where he actually got decent pressure and put a hand on Brees?
  23. That's a bit of an exaggeration. Jared Allen didn't even touch Brees and only had 2 tackles. Allen didn't get a sack but he kicked Bushrod's ass all day. There's a reason the Saints had 7 three and outs (14 all year?) and it wasn't because the Vikings secondary is awesome. Allen and the d-line collapsed the pocket and made Brees get rid of it earlier than he wanted. He's a different type of pass rusher than Freeney though. This entire day [expletive] sucks. I hate life. There was a dispute over something in the game so we watched back some of it last night. That spot on the 4th and 1 in overtime was a travesty. Should have been Vikings ball at the 40.
  24. peyton manning being awesome at football has a lot more to do with the game than katrina or who dat. Depends on how you look at it. Katrina is why Brees signed with New Orleans and still serves as the inspiration for a lot of players. Oh how [expletive] naive can you be? Serves as the inspiration for a lot of players? Give me a break. They're inspired by money, winning and doing their damn job. It was 4.5 years ago. How many Saints were even on the roster then or the next season? Stop buying into all of the worthless stories that come out of this week. No player is thinking about that damn flood during the game. You would fit in with the majority of sports media. It's the easy, lazy, schmaltzy story to write. It has nothing to do with anything. Even if they win, New Orleans will still have the same problems next week that it has right now.
  25. May be a benefit for him to sit. He's got a lot of potential but right now doesn't do much to help. I told you guys I thought he acted like a total punk when I saw him at Iowa. For a guy who really doesn't do much, he talked 100x more than anyone else on the court. He thinks he's the ish. It's funny they have 3 NBA players who carry themselves the right way and I really like watching them play. Then they have two clowns who aren't even good.
