  1. Is this with Today's performance, because I pulled the numbers from Cubs.com
  2. BTW for those who think that Barrett is the "2nd worst defensive catcher" in the league, I would disagree with that as well. His .992 fielding percentage ranks above league average (and the same as Varitek, the #1 offensive catcher) He has the highest range factor among regular catchers. he has thrown out 19 of 55 runners which isn't bad (especially considering the staff and their lack of holding runners) I think that Barrett is BY FAR the least of our concerns.
  3. Yes he should have been. That's a no-brainer. Agreed. When you have your best hitter up there with no protection and about to get a fat pitch, swing away. Better to be 4-3 with 1 out bases empty then 4-0 bases loaded. If the pitcher is guaranteed to throw a fat pitch, I agree. The fact is, Vargas was wild and there is no guarantee. If you take 3-0, you're guaranteed to get another swing if you so choose. If you swing 3-0, you don't have that luxury and you lessen the pressure on the pitcher. Lee should have taken 3-0 and forced the pitcher to make a pitch. If he throws a strike, you get another swing. Why was Neifi swinging 3-0 after Burnitz walked? Why did Cedeno swing on the first pitch after that? It's poor organizational plate discipline. So you are assuming here that Lee would have swung at anything. He swung at a change down the middle and was early. Lee should have swung at the ball without any doubt and any baseball player would tell you the same thing. It is actually SMART baseball
  4. What are you talking about. He is the 2nd best offensive catcher in the majors and quite possibly the 2nd worst defensive catcher mhuber- for a catcher, his numbers are good, but they are down from last season, and I'm pretty sure PECOTA predicted a decline. I'm just curious as to how big of a decline. Errr... 2004: 287/337/489 16HR 65RBI 33BB/64K 2005: 290/356/501 13HR 53RBI 33BB/48K Not sure if I see a decline there.
  5. This is what I was talking about. Perez has to be doing something right for all these baseball people to make these statements

  8. You know this answer. Quite possibly one of the worst GM's of all time.
  9. They never let it rest. That's one of the reasons I hate ESPN. Once the masses of Cub Fans let it go, so will ESPN & Fox.
  10. well considering that Welly should be the one starting as opposed to Rusch it actually makes sense for him to be up.
  11. It really shouldn't be nomar's fault. He was trying to go to 2nd but for some reason Neifi was going to cover 1st.
  12. what about Dr. Hibbard's "Hee, he he"
  13. regardless of other issues, I want to commend Nomar for trying 3B.
  14. It is the Transactions forum. It's not like off-season threads are bumping current transaction threads to obscurity. :D good point.
  15. Why would they? Van Buren had an AWFUL spring and has terrible mechanics. Also didn't he pitch in the neterlands last year? Gotta be tired.
  16. what no "Eat my shorts" or "Diddly" no comic book guy "Best Poll EVAR!"
  17. Please use this thread for any questions regarding the roster... Now according to MLB.com the tea has 41 players on the roster. But they list Bartosh being on the roster but he was "outrighted" earlier in the summer so this accounts for that. My question is about Greenberg. He is still listed as being on the 15 day DL. But he is playing now for the Jaxx. How long can a rehab last officially before it is necassary to take him off the DL?
  18. I will go outside of the box and nominate Adam Greenberg. Might not be the highest level prospect or have the best numbers but is the consimant professional and the best example of "team player" that the system has. Besides, stats aren't too bad. .272/.379/.418 44BB/58K
  19. How many "off-season" type threads must there be? Guys, it isn't even the off season yet and this thread just piles on. Can we at leat make 1 LONG thread about the subject?
  20. <---Kimmel and proud of it :D
  21. quite a jump from Peoria to Iowa isn't it?
  22. If you don't watch, how will you know when they get a new mgr? :)
