  1. Any idea what hand these two pitchers throw with?
  2. What is JoBo's inherited runners standing? I seem to remember him coming into a game last week and blew the "hold".
  3. Giles is probably an Angel if the Padres do not resign him (which they won't with a project 60 million payroll). The Angels ahve needed another bat all year. They were looking for a DH this past offseason (remember Piazza Rumors) and still haven't filled that hole. The only way that they won't sign Giles is if they finally part with some of the young talent that is blocked (hello Kotchman) and made a trade. I can actaully envision a Sheffield deal for the Angels or a Griffey deal.
  4. Don't you think Dusty came out to get Z in the 8th today and Z told him that he wanted to finish. He wasn't alboring, was just at 98 pitches and wasn't in too much trouble. I say leave him in. Let him keep going with that competive fire.
  5. Somehow this is my team that I got from an autodraft  I think its actually pretty good... QB - Matt Hasselback WR - S. Smith WR - J. Galloway WR. J. McCariens RB - Tomlinson RB - Jordan TE - Shockey DEF - Philly K - Elam Bench has Dilfer, Doug Jolley, Chester Taylor, Travis Taylor And this is with 18 teams!
  6. I think that more people need to represent for Adam Greenberg! (Why do i always end up voting for the "out of LF candidates?)
  7. McClain was not on the 40 man. He took Lawton's spot. I don't think the organization shares your opinion of JVB. Neither do I. I think that JVB is another "smoke and mirrors" type of pitcher like JoBo and many a japanese pitcher was. He is the type to rely on deception and movement to get him by and if either of those things go by the wayside then he is very hittable.
  8. =D> About time. Now if they can give up on Rusch in the rotation and give Welly/Hill/Pinto some starts we would all be happy.
  9. Too Bad you missed Mason/Ireland day a caouple of days back. I hear it was a doozy.
  10. Well DJaxx, sorry about your lack of national pub on your broadcast and it being shortened, but the practice will make you perfect for next time! This situation is kinda funny to me because of this radio show on ESPN Radio 710 here in so cal today (Mason/Ireland - Big Show - commonly called the BS show by the hosts, good show too). Apparently the hosts were being featured at the local A club (Rancho Cucomongo Quakes) and one got to sing the anthem. Apparently this host (Mason) prerecorded it and lipsynched the anthem. He hid it from everyone but the sound guy at the stadium and no one knew. He got called out on the air and it became this big scandal all day. Funny stuff. They kept questioning his whole career later. Maybe this "rainout" is all a cover for DJaxx to get another shot! :P
  11. Hershiser. Think he would jump at the chance to work with Prior, Z and Wood compared to what he has in Texas? Who is Houston's coach? He did pretty well with Backe.
  12. Actually, I am surprised the Mets didn't want Lawton. Imagine Lawton for Victor Diaz.
  13. I like that the potential pitcher doesn't walk many people. Maybe it will rub off in AA next year. Regardless, I think what is curious about this to me is that the Yanks didn't choose Burnitz to go after. He seems like the type of player they would be interested in. Leads me to believe that he will be here next season. I think that Grieve comes up, not Murton until 9/1
  14. For Cedeno? "dude gotta put walk in the eighth. sometimes cedeno only play 7 in AAA. Walk do this before." For Nomar I thought it was for Perez. Perez is playing 3B and for the record Cedeno singled, didn't walk last AB
  15. For Cedeno? "dude gotta put walk in the eighth. sometimes cedeno only play 7 in AAA. Walk do this before." actually it was for Nomar.
  16. Now that you mention it..... these guys have made my head explode enough times over the last 50 years.... I don't guess one more is gonna make much difference, eh? R u that guy from Men In Black that keeps growing back heads? :D
  17. WE have our leadoff man. Maybe he should lead off when playing 3b for ARam Team record by leadoff hitter W L pct 1. Macias 2 0 1.000 2. Patterson 14 13 0.519 3. Perez 11 11 0.500 4. Hairston 27 28 0.491 5. Gerut 0 1 0.000 6. Lawton 7 11 0.389 7. Murton 0 2 0.000 Be real careful what you ask for !!! Just you watch Fred. AR being on the DL and Macias leading off will save this season (and all of our heads will explode!)
  18. Dude, he just scored a run! What's with the hatred for Barrett? It's not hatred. I don't like or hate any of these guys as persons. It proves my point about Barrett and meaningful hits. Stats lie a lot of the time and batting average is the biggest liar of them all. Ok, I would disagree again. Looking at the LOB stat Barrett has had a poor game, but he got this inning started and get got on base and scored a run. Wasn't the best day, but wasn't an absolutely poor day either.

  21. This is what our conversation was about. You questioned Lee swinging at 3-0 and I called you on that. I have no doubt that the Cubs are fundamentally poor but you can't look at Lee's AB there and say that was an example. Look back a couple pages and you'll see I did the same for the Neifi at bat as well as the Cedeno at bat. My point on Lee was the same as those posts. I'm not saying the Lee isn't the best offensive player on the team. Excellent hitters are expected to make outs 70% of the time. Given that, if a struggling pitcher MUST make 1 pitch to keep you off base, I say you take your chances, especially since you're guaranteed to get another chance even if the pitcher succeeds. Especially considering that Vargas is wild today. I understand your point. I just disagree your opinion on the approach in Lee's AB. I would have expected him to swing and if he didn't I would have questioned it.
  22. Enough with the stats and start watching him play. He is below average defensively and tight at the plate in pressure situations. And please don't quote me his average with men in scoring position. It's different hitting in a game when you're up by 7 or 8 than it it is when you're down a couple of runs. OK. no more stats. Without facts to get in our way we will have to agree to disagree. My opinion differs dramatically from yours. We shall leave it at that.
