  1. ugh. Good return for senor Tightpants
  2. just 2 batters to make the "walk" idea work. And Patterson is the guy. Lets go Yogi!
  3. I've gotta say that Dempster is becoming more of a favorite. His attitude and quotes are fun and they are almost to the "quirky" level. We've needed a doug glanville type
  4. does anyone like anything about this team?
  5. Not if Mike Fontenot or Scott McCalin have anything to say about it 9/1/05 They don't, Dusty does. I doubt that even Dusty wouldn't keep either of those out of the lineup after rosters expand.

  7. THAT looked VERY bad for Aram. The end of the play when he landed on his ankle looked like it hurt too.
  8. Your Move?!? I never even noticed that you left our left coast, even though I know it was happening. Goes to show how quickly this summer has gone. How's the new place?
  9. Probably a NL West team keeping him away from SD. He has been rumored to go there since Alderson became team prez.
  10. WOW. What's with the country "knee-slappin" music during the stretch?
  11. Agreed on Holla and I doubt Lawton will get more then 3 mil next season
  12. what's funny is that this argument is with a poster with the sn "Old happy cub fan" I find it ironic that there have been very few "happy"posts from him today
  13. no one is here in the game thread and no one in flash chat, odd...
  14. This is just not a smart statement. Hopefully it was made in the heat of the moment and not something you truly believe.
  15. Crimmeny, it was the 1st inning. I think we can have some patience. I like this 3 game streak we are on. But after Rusch gives up another run in the second, and two more in the third, we'll be into the pen by the fifth and it just doesn't look good. This doesn't sound like the Vance that we all know!

  17. AJB will be an Angel no doubt. With Washburn headed to the Bronx. The yankees want a lefty.
  18. WOW...the St Louis OF has zero characteristics to it. It reminds me of dodger stadium a lot. An open air stadium in minnesota is asking for trouble but at least it has some family areas and cool looking concourses.
  19. One thing I don't understand about this is that nearly every single broadcaster that has done a Cubs game has made mention of how great Neifi has been for the Cubs and has gone on to say that he made it easier to lose Nomar. Now broadcasters are fickle sure, but to have every one of them (including Len) state that Neifi was a savior to me means that he had to have done something right. I think it reflects that the broadcasters are not knowledgable or just say that to satisfy someone. I would think the same way if it wasn't for EVERY single one of them. While Perez isn't the best SS in the league, he certainly was useful. Sometimes there are times where we can not like one or two players, but that can cloud the actual reality. Yes there are different options at SS, but what if Cedeno flamed out? Then would we be anywhere as close as we are? I'm not saying that Perez is the reason that the team is still alive but how would it feel to be a certainty that there isn't a chance? I personally still like the fact that the Cubs are still competitive.

  21. I understand the frustration, I just don't understand some of the conclusions. How would a "look" answered your questions about Cedeno or Murton more then their minor league abilities shown? How can the lack of a look equal the assumption that it will be "expensive"? I just don't get the conclusions. Yes I did not that Burnitz has been slumping and yes I know that Hollandsworth has cooled off again, but there is some truth to the idea that "setting up someone to suceed" actaully has merit. How do you get someone out of a slump?
  22. Err...your conclusions baffle me at times. While it might be fun to try to find the "6 degrees of Dusty's idiocy" I don't think that every situation can be traced back to him.
  23. Interesting that we lost to Wandy but beat Pettite & Oswalt. Pretty good series all around actually.
  24. Hi Mr. Dopirak thanks for joining us, log on sometime! Really just a small question for me... I was wondering if you feel added pressure because of your status amongst many of the "informed" cub fans. Many of us see you as a shining example of how the Cubs system of positional players is coming into its own. Also (I guess I lied about this being short :)) is it hard to get the right mix of wanting to win with the team and needing to work on things? What I am getting at is many times we hear that players need to work on certain things while they are progressing. But is it hard to put aside trying to win the game with old habits? I sincerely wish you luck in your future and can't wait for your first major league "Dope-Slap" to the bushes in dead center field at Wrigley (Heck the Scoreboard isn't too far! :P)
