    How can the return of Steve Hutchinson to Seattle not make the week somewhat interesting. After all the "poison pill" stuff this offseason, this game should be highly entertaining and therefore not on in my area

    THis Sucks. Why is it I NEVER seem to get the Seahawks game? You would think that since the Rams played in LA before STL they would show the game!

    Wow, Quade really came off pretty cool in that brief tidbit. I like his down to earth style. I remeber this when he was filling in for Spier earlier this season. He seemed to say the right things and be a nice guy about it but not in a cliche way

    Why would the Yankees want Kotchman? They're trading their third baseman, they still have Giambi. That is why I noted that the Yanks wouldn't do Kotchman but I would wager they would do McPherson assuming he is healthy. I would also think they would do a Santana/Izturis/MLB Ready young pitcher

    well ESPN Radio this morning mentioned the Cubs second as a team for A-Rod right after the Angels. In all reality the Angels would have the inside track if they offered Dallas McPherson and Ervin Santana. If i were the Angels I would look very hard at that deal and then suggest Casey Kotchman instead of Dallas and then make the deal (The Yanks wouldn't go for it).

    Good to See Atlee and Pavilk going. Is Coats Venezualan? I know that it isn't a preq but it might explain why he wasn't in the AFL. I was expecting him to be in Arizona this offseason.

    I like that they are looking inhouse. It isn't a bad safety net especially given the 1 year window that was discussed in the MacPhail thread. I think Quade is an excellent choice for 3rd base coach and is a thread of familiarity for the younger players. Listach is an intelligent guy who deserves a chance but I don't think that this is the right time. It might be too much pressure to have a "younger" coaching staff altogether, assuming Girardi is the hire. I think Dave Wallace would be a good candidate to take over for Larry and I think that there are plenty of good veteran bench coaches available.

    Some of these trade proposals are REALLY Reaching. To think that Cedeno or Dempster would result in any player that would make a positive impact in '07 is a huge task. We aren't at the trading deadline so no one is under the gun to take a bad deal. I think that you need to look at what other teams can offer in trades before you assume that Dempster/Cedeno can bring back anything. Look at what Corey got us last offseason and compare his value versus Cedeno & Dempster and that is a more likely comparison of what either player will bring.

    Towers is an excellent GM as well. I still don't understand why he didn't go to Boston

    I agree with BBB with Bochy here in So Cal. He has been a fixture in SD for a long time (longest tenured manager right now I believe) and has been with Towers the majority of it. Towers is likely to go which would allow for a nice exit for a likable manager. I doubt they would fire him outright since he has done everything right in SD but I could forsee him leaving when Towers leaves. If Towers doesn't leave then Bochy stays and lives out his 1 year left. Bothy seems to be a good example of the new breed of modern managers. I think he started the trend in understanding the statistical information but also knowing how to manage superstars and their egos. He is mild mannered and is pretty good with the media. I would describe him as a blue collar manager. He is a guy that does a solid job and quietly does it right. He isn't in the news often and if he is it is usually to praise a player and that is where he gets his "player's manager" argument from. It seems like it would be pretty easy to respect him.

    Ugh. This is ridiculous. The "Hawks did not come to Chicago to play. Recievers dropping the ball, the defense not showing any emotion and Grossman just throwing every ball perfectly. Just ridiculous. Oh well, at least we have an extra week to sit and pout about it. BRING IN SENECA WALLACE!

    Ugh. Some nice touch passes from Hass and a good first series from the Hawks D but they aren't adjusting. What a great Sack though by Davis. a loss of 13!

    in reality MacPhail had little to do with the baseball decisions at all. He hires the GM and that was really it (at least since Hendry has been here) so McDononugh will have little effect on the baseball portion of the team. I wonder if this is why Wilken came over?

    I'm not high on Towers, personally. I'd rather Depodesta. They're both big upgrades, though. WOW, defintely not me. Towers is such a better GM. Deposdesta is so overrated it isn't funny. I don't know you can give a guy one year to install a plan that should take 3 years and say he was terrible. True but the fact that he seemed to have no coherent plan ever in that year amkes it an easy evaulation. Being in LA and seeing some of the non national news (the everyday stuff) has led me to this belief. He switched plans more often then anyone and his relations with the fans/media are worse then Hendry

    Towers is likely gone at the end of the year. He hasn't been too involved this season and is ready to move on similar to Bochy
