  1. No Thanks! hmmm what if we traded Zambrano to the Yanks for Hughes, Cabrera and maybe Montero? Then Flipped that for Halladay. That would make more sense than what the Diamondbacks just did.
  2. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on this but i dont think the yankees get anything other than Granderson. This is the deal on MLBtraderumors.com the Yankees get Curtis Granderson the D'Backs get Edwin Jackson and Ian Kennedy Tigers get Max Scherzer, Daniel Schlereth, Austin Jackson, and Phil Coke. I think the Tigers got a decent return, I would pick Scherzer over Austin Jackson. I think Phil Coke and Jackson are overrated. The Yankees in my opinion underpaid and i think thats largely in part because people have this perception that jackson is a stud and so is kennedy. There must be something going on with Scherzer and Schlereth's labrums to make that deal. Why give away dominant pitching talent for a flyball pitcher in a hitter's park? I don't see why the Diamondbacks even got involved.
  3. Ugh, that deal is horrible for the Diamondbacks. They better be receiving extra quality prospects if they're giving up Scherzer. His salary and team control probably makes him the most valuable player listed.
  4. Good for Looper. I want to pitch for the Cubs too. For the better of the Cubs, I hope he doesn't get signed either.

  6. I'll bite: http://www.firejoemorgan.com/2008/08/wins-are-for-losers-part-eleven-million.html
  7. I'd rather have Cameron for a year than give up the extra prospects and cash to get Granderson. Let's hope the Cubs don't end up eating $18 million in the Bradley trade.
  8. There are rumblings that the Phillies are looking to move Victorino in exchange for pitching: http://www.faketeams.com/2009/12/4/1184864/mlb-trade-rumors-phillies-shopping What prospects would it take to get Victorino? Would he be a better option than Granderson, Cameron or Byrd?
  9. It would be ironic to trade Bradley because he's a bad clubhouse influence then sign Padilla.
  10. I'd trade $1,000,000 for Miles' roster spot. Getting three prospects for Fox is intriguing too. Best of luck to Jake.
  11. Forgive me if there's already a thread but I couldn't find one. I'm shocked people haven't mentioned Justin Duchscherer yet. Check out these career numbers: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/6767/career;_ylt=Al4jdfRjFr65ynVL5RQmnoiFCLcF 2006 would provide value, let alone 2008.
  12. Is Granderson/Byrd a binary solution? No. What makes the most sense? Cameron. What do I expect? Byrd pulling a .760 OPS and getting jettisoned for a slightly better player in 2011. Here's to hoping Tyler Colvin makes the farm leap that Starlin Castro did. Don't mind me. I'm alternating between huffing gasoline and smoking salvia.
  13. Truth. It makes slightly more sense for an AL team with a DH slot. Makes way more sense than trading Bradley for Burrell.
  14. Who wants a $200 million Todd Hundley? I'm joking because of Cabrera's drinking problem. I wouldn't mind Cabrera even if he was the love child of Mark Grace and Kyle Farnsworth. I'm concerned about giving up 18-24 years of club control for the cost of one Miguel Cabrera season. (Edited for color)
  15. What makes you think that? I took that to mean that the odds of Lee waiving his no-trade clause are nil.
  16. From Baseball Prospectus: Guancous (Silver Spring, MD): Wiser for the Cubs: Short-term deal for Marlon Byrd or trade blue chip prospects for Curtis Granderson? Eric Seidman: Granderson is a legit starter, Byrd is a fourth outfielder with a power surge in Texas that masked his true abilities, who will cost much more than he merits. Go for Grandy.
  17. I always assumed that the hope was for Fontenot to replicate his 2008 production and for Miles to be a utility infielder. Instead we had everyone but Derrek Lee falling off a cliff.
  18. Can you imagine the Cardinals with Halladay, Wainwright and Carpenter? I'm glad that Brett Wallace is long gone. The last thing they need is another trading chip.
  19. Here's the most important question: Is this haul better than the potential August deadline return last year?
  20. Fangraphs gives Granderson a $15.2 million dollar value for 2009. That includes the fact that he's worthless against lefties. A platoon partner would be needed and we'd have to probably eat most of Bradley's contract. I'd prefer this to Burrell but not as much as acquiring a top OF prospect. Hendry deserves an extension if he can get a Nolan Riemold, let alone McCutchen, type player in the Bradley deal. I'd be happy to get a free Eric Karros and Grudz at this point.
  21. The moral of the story is don't go more than 10 mph over the speed limit. Who cares about weed, especially in California? Milton Bradley should try some. It would mellow him out. I can see why it's verboten in MLB. It must be insanely difficult to find the motivation to work out instead of G.I.Joe.
  22. no Yeah I wouldn't assume that just yet, maybe we have a castro instead of a jeter or han ram. I'm excited about Castro too but you have to get a bigger sample size before biting into the hype. The most exciting part i got from the whole post is how big the cubs expect Castro to grow into. If he become 6'3 195-200lbs, I'd imagine he'd lean more towards a Han Ram than Jeter. if he pans out and reaches his ceiling then maybe he's a jeter (sure-fire hall of fame ss) or han ram (hall of fame ss if he keeps this up another several years). castro could also be an edgar renteria (solid ss but not hall of fame) or he could be the next rey ordonez. sometimes highly-touted prospects bust. I would think maybe Alex Gonzalez (Toronto/Cubs) instead of ReyO. Ordonez was a midget who never came close to being productive. Gonzo at least flirted with being a productive SS from time to time, was a bigger guy. Alex struck out more, and was moderately productive in the minors. Ordonez only got the job becaus of his glove, he sucked hitting. Castro has been much better than both by the way. I'm trying to stay reasonable about him, but I'm definitely optimistic. I'll take six years of Rey Ordonez/Alex Gonzalez under team control. It beats paying $5 million a year to the Orlando Cabreras of the world.
  23. Delmon Young has potential but right now he's Corey Patterson without the speed, power or defense.
  24. While we're discussing the Padres, let me throw this name out there: Chase Headley.
  25. Cameron>Burrell Cameron>Rowand My only concern is that Cameron is extremely streaky and can disappear for weeks at a time. His defense helps mitigate that though.
