  1. looks like he's trying to hit the ball into the lake.
  2. is it too much to ask of the cubs to make an adjustment? try looking outside. Hamels has been camped out on the outside corner all night long.
  3. wrong. Dr. Sutcliffe said it looked like a hyperexended ankle and knee :)
  4. it would be more fun if Sutcliffe were drunk.
  5. there has to be another thread for this to go to. . .
  6. That was in '77. Total collapse. They had 51 wins at the break, if memory serves. As for 2001, that team shouldn't have won 70 games, much less the 88 they actually won. The cubs had talent in the mid 80s to early 90s, but management was atrocious. Many of those years, they were right in the thick of things at the break, but just couldn't finish.
  7. I can't quite put my finger on it, but for whatever reason, I really like Canseco. It probably stems from him being the only one to fess up and tell it like it is / was. . . . of course, it's just so he can make an extra buck. I'm not normally dranw to scumbags, but I'm a canseco fan.
  8. YOU'RE GOSH DARN RIGHT WE'LL PLAY UNDER PROTEST! THAT'S BS!
  9. nevermind, they gave him a double. I thought West signaled Soriano 'out'
  10. how do you call Soriano out? Wouldn't he get a double?
  11. Seems to me that the Cubs want Pie in CF, but he struggles against LHP. Jones has played well, but cannot hit LHP. Therefore, they need someone to platoon. Maybe I'm an idiot, but I have a feeling that Hendry didn't say, "screw the rest of the players in the majors. I want Jay Payton and Jay Payton only. End of story!" I think it is a matter of the club needing to fill a hole. They can't be too picky. Payton would serve the roll of platoon player much better than Jones. It would allow Pie to get the bulk of the playing time.
  12. Take a deep breath. Remember, at worst, the Cubs will have gained 2 games on the brewers since the break. That's 2 games in less than a month. Progress. . . .steady progress.
  13. Yeah, but the thing is, it's a lot quicker to leave everything in then to try to only selectively choose the ones that matter. It's not that he's taking extra time to include people like Wood, it's that he gets to take less time by leaving Wood on the list. NSBB should cut his pay in half!!!!! ;)
  14. getting swept in a double header has to do wonders for a young team's confidence :)
  15. As long as they stay 5+ back they can sweep out this series. I wouldn't worry about the cardinals until they get to .500. They're pitching is too sketchy for them to go on a real run. Still, they have the magic pixy dust, so anything is possible.
  16. \ this makes no sense. The cards are on their way to sweeping a double header against the brewers.
  17. gotta move him along so that the light-hitting albert pujols can get him home with a single tonight's lotto numbers, please.
  18. That's good. Of course, we probably traded murton for a journeyman reliever.
  19. They're picking up 1 game per series. That's tough to argue with.
  20. Duncan's bat has a crazy THICK handle.
  21. What about HBP? i'm counting it a BB :)
