    I think he deserves a lot of credit for doing a good job handling the young staff of Wood, Prior, and Zambrano. I always liked him and hated to see him go.

    I really like Theriot. He's driven in some runs. He's on pace to steal 30 bags. His glove is steady -- not great, but steady. He's good in the utility role. I think he brings more to the table than Cedeno. Cedeno never appeared to be as good a bunter or base runner. Cedeno can't play the outfield as far as I remember. Seems like Cedeno is a starting SS/2b or nothing. Theriot is more flexible.

    It seems like the 2007 White Sox have jumped into the 2006 Cubs team level. I wouldn't call the 05 Cubs an embarrassment, they were just decidedly mediocre. 05 was bad, but it was embarassing. . .. .2006, on the other hand, was embarassing as heck.

    Of course MLB rigged it. They even went as far as rigging it so Soriano gets in (since he got shafted on the vote). I don't think Soriano is an all star this year.

    If the roles were reversed and the cubs had a 6.5 game lead, I promise that none of you would be purchasing play off tickets. There's still a lot of baseball to be played. The only guarantee is the Reds will not win the division.

    the cubs, on the other hand, have a tendency to really start kickin' a right around september and totally not choke. In my lifetime, the cubs have been in the chase in september on 6 times -- 84, 89, 95, 98, 01, 03 and 04. The only time they really tanked was 01 and 04. All the other years, they did their tanking earlier in the year :)

    Just play freaking baseball. I'm sick and damned tired of all the BS with baseball. A baseball broadcast needs just a few things: 1) 2 teams 2) a couple of guys in the booth that aren't complete bafoons 3) natural grass 4) hot dogs 5) beer 6) 9 innings Nothing else is really needed. If I recall, the 7 game series has worked well. Don't screw with a streak, meat.

    I'm looking at the 2nd half schedule and I notice a long 12 game road trip in mid september. 9/7 - 9/9 at Pitt 9/11- 9/13 at Hou 9/14-9/16 at SL (6 games total) Wow.

    PECOTA mean projection is an .864 for him. The 75 percentile projection is .904. They project him to be worth $43,450,000 over 2007-2011. not bad for a guy who had only 2 hit records in the mid-80s

    well kiss my ass -- the fine folks at the Arkansas Fox affilate are showing the Cubs and Brewers tomorrow.

    If they catch a good game and go 0-4, I'm happy. Anything the catcher brings to the offense is gravy to me.

    I'm driving home from work and listening to Pat and Ron. I damn near ran off the road when ARam hit the homer. I immediately call my mom. I'm excited and say, "ARE YOU WATCHING THIS?" She says, yeah, I'm watching on the computer. Looks like they'll lose by.. . OH MY GOD, RAMIREZ!!!! Apparently there's a bit of a delay with mlb.tv :)

    We are living in what could be a golden era of baseball. The sad (and pathetic) thing is that the cloud of doubt hovers over every bit of it. I hate that.
