  1. If only the bolded part could be true for Boston, as well. I could sure live with the Cubs having a $154 million payroll next year though.
  2. No offense, but that's ridiculous. No ownership group is going to commit to 100% of any revenue source to be "reinvested in the team", nor should they. Oh certainly ridiculous. Nothing about my love for this team and it's icons has ever been rational.
  3. Hmm, ok Marquis, Fuld, Cedeno TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT
  4. Barring a ridiculous "highest ever" fee, and the current highest would be the Mets stadium at 20 million per season, no thanks. If someone would pay 30 million dollars a year to name it and ownership would commit to 100% of that being reinvested in the team, ok, I'll bite. I'm sick of the near 100 year drought a lot more than I'd be of a new stadium name.
  5. Get ready to be sick guys... Zell will consider selling Wrigley Field naming rights Yep, I guess AT&T Field DOES have the same ring to it.... ](*,)
  6. Dude, Belkast IS Jim Hendry. It makes perfect sense. He buddy does run the team after all. Which means that Hendry and MacPhail are enjoying a scotch while they slowly work out the Roberts trade that will be completed in February because everyone wants to let the steroid scandal die down a bit.
  7. I would, but I can't say with a straight face that I would have actually got work done if I weren't refreshing these threads. I'm sure I would have found some other distraction.
  8. It's not like any of us really wanted to get any work done today.
  9. Don't major league baseball teams have more important things to worry about? The O's haven't gone through hell for a decade because of rational use of resources/time.
  10. Actually they seem worried that Belkast's source may have been outed. As in, perhaps the O's had a suspicion of who the leak was and tested it. Gulp, hope not. Yup... http://www.forum.orioleshangout.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56660
  11. Well, if Belkast were trying to play us he's also playing his own people. And we know what we'd do around here if someone pulled that crap. We'll see though
  12. I apologized on all of our behalf for killing it, heh. They're pretty nice over there. Which is why I'm not worried that all this is just being done to yank our chain.
  13. Srsly Has anyone put up the Bruce signal? NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA...BRUCE-MAN
  14. Oh, he'll get it. All in $100 dollar bills. He's just not going to like what A-Rod does with those $100 bills before he mails them over. Will give a whole new meaning to the term "dirty money".
  15. Pretty much. It's especially silly because if he "came clean" just enough, this would all blow over. Just say you used HGH to recover from injuries and stopped when it was officially banned/found out it was performance enhancing/whatever excuse you can say with a straight face. Go on a public speaking tour and teach kids about the dangers of steroids. You might get "punished" by not making the HOF first ballot. Maybe.
  16. Eh, I don't really consider it a high price. Gallagher is the centerpiece and will hurt, but he probably isn't in our plans next year. Murton will probably break out in Baltimore but who cares, it's obvious he has no future here with both corner wrapped up for a minimum of 4 years. E-Patt will likely top out as a utility guy, so no huge loss. I just hope that on the first day of spring training DeRosa lines up at SS like he has something to prove. If that happens, we're golden.
  17. Ha, might have helped him "bounce back" a little quicker...
  18. For some reason I kind of believe him. You'd think the only people who'd be speaking up would be those who are confident there are no more shoes to drop. Such as Roberts, he'll be a free agent in a couple of years at age 32 or so. If he gets caught up in the next steroid name list that would probably just about kill his career. At the least force him to take small "make good" contracts. I just don't see the logic in not coming 100% clean now because you know more shoes will drop. Congress will probably get involved with actual subpoena power and more names will come out. While I certainly don't put it past anyone to lie in an admission (they were dumb enough to write checks for illegal drugs...) it would seem that would take a special kind of stupid.
  19. I can see the Yanks paying a high price to nab him. As much as I want to see Prior bounce back as a stater, the Yanks are probably the only team besides the White Sox and Cardinals that seeing him pitch for would be like a suckerpunch to my gut. Personally I'll take any AL team, even the Yanks. At least then it isn't going to be in our face as often. I loathe him going to another NL Central team and beating us up once a series.
  20. The Pettite confession is going to really hurt. It lends a lot of credibility to the informants information.
  21. He signed, 1 year 4.5 million. Yep. Would have taken that over Theriot. Excuse me while I go get sick.
  22. Remember kids. It's only cheating if you get caught. \:D/ I'm sure Sammy will take the lost 20 (or whatever it was) g's in the Dominican over being in that report anyday. Did Sammy juice? Probably. Has Sammy gotten caught? Nope, and that should by all accounts leave him free and clear when it comes time to get in the Hall. And I just don't foresee anything coming back to bite Sammy in the butt. I'd imagine Dominican drug runners are probably a lot harder to get to talk than an American already facing 25 years in the slammer. Not saying it's fair, but that's just the way it is. Until you have proof all you have is suspicion. And you can't punish someone for suspicion.
  23. Actually I think we already got that bat. Little known guy named Kosuke Fukudome. I would have liked Roberts on the team and at the top of the order, but it's such a minimal upgrade over DeRosa that you guys are right. The prospects dealt would be put to better use upgrading at short or adding an arm to the rotation.
