  1. They have a whole section devoted to Cubs Obsesssion (Whats the Score) with 15 threads on the front page of that section devoted to Cubs in some way. It's a matter of degree. Thats all.
  2. Congrats to the Sox. Both Chicago teams in postseason. Killer!
  3. No real whining going on here. I hope the Sox make it too. The point was the amount and the degree of it over there. And from the looks of it goes on all the time. Not just when the team just happened to win the World Series. It's not a matter of "we are better than they are" either. I was surpised at the amount of time devoted to the Cubs over there.
  4. I find it interesting, and telling, that even in light of the White Sox recent troubles there are virtually no threads about them on nsbb. Contrast this with the White Sox site where there are 16 Cubs related threads on the front page of this section alone: http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=18 It's the "What's the Score?" section. Get it? We are so drunk and not paying attention to the game that we don't know what the score is . This is not even counting the ever present whining about media attention....and all the rest that is literally all over the site over there. I used to think that the whole White Sox envy for the Cubs was over blown....but after looking around over there I see that it is quite a real phenonema. I learned something while reading through the site. The White Sox won a world series before the Cubs. It seems to be in almost every thread.
  5. I'll take atmosphere over the mall anyday. Screw parking. Take public transportation. The last thing we need is more reason to drive places, idling in traffic for hours. Mallparks suck. Who is talking about a mallpark? All that land at where Cabrini Green will eventually not be, surrounded by a really cool upcoming neighborhood, closer to downtown with the skyline right behind the outfield. A) That would be nearly impossible. B) How would that be at all different from Wrigleyville? You think they are just going to magically create "cool" bars and restaurants that beat the ones near Wrigley? C) How is this going to solve the parking issue? There are a lot of nice bars on Divison street. More would appear. THere is enough land over there for parking too. Why would it be impossible? The large housing projects are being torn down...and rightly so. The skyline in the background with a bigger, better, brighter, Wrigley would be a dream come true. And NOT the Cell north.
  6. 45 NEW! Sooner than later please. Lots of parking....more seats.....2008 amenities. Wrigley Field is like having a 1 car garage.
  7. Of course if Lee gets hot and leads the Cubs to the World Series....he will be King of Chicago. Or not.
  8. I think he is homesick....I dont think time is going to help him. I think he has learned that money isnt everything and he just wants to go home. Hope Im wrong.
  9. Your post is correct. The part that is not required is: It's normal for fans to want to vent after a loss....and after the last couple of weeks it's certainly understandable that Cub fans might be getting a little nervous as to what the future holds. The condenscending "you dont know what you are talking about" stuff is far worse than a casual fan worrying about his team.
  10. This board has an underlying smarminess/smugness that is most unpleasant.
  11. Killer!!!! The pitcher reactions are just a blast. I like when they just look down and do a little body quake.
  12. If you dont think the Cubs are fully capable of losing 4-5 in a row.....and the Brewers capable of winning 4-5 in a row.....then you must not be a Cubs fan. Well, he isn't... Well there ya go.
  13. If you dont think the Cubs are fully capable of losing 4-5 in a row.....and the Brewers capable of winning 4-5 in a row.....then you must not be a Cubs fan.
  14. Steve Stones a blowhard Agreed. But it sounded like he was just relaying facts rather than opinions in this case....and for a change.
  15. Steve Stone said on B&B today that there was an incident on a Cub charter (Plane)where Eyre was late for the plane and had to be restrained and taken to the back of the plane when he arrived. I think I heard them say the argument was with Lou. Stone hinted strongly that Eyre has off field issues of some sort. Anyone else hear that interview? I was half listening.
  16. So the blister is ok now. See how he feels the next day? Isnt the blister a visual thing? I mean its either a open blister or its not. This thing just seems weird.
  17. I'm not a doctor, but I believe it is quite possible for a blister to morph into an wound/open sore. "I'm beyond antsy," he said. "It's the (darndest) thing I've ever seen as far as skin. I can't explain it, and nobody here can explain it. I've been to several doctors, and I just haven't gotten any better. We tried just about everything we could think of and probably tried some things we shouldn't have. Time will be the best thing for it." Apparently several doctors can't explain it. No mention of a "popped blister" that just needs to heal. Instead it's "nobody can explain it."
  18. "It's not a blister anymore. It's an open wound." A little change in diagnosis. Because a blister would have healed by now. Gotta say something.
  19. Kind of why I brought it up. I figure there is some validity to the "he's throwing a baseball which aggravates it theory" but 3 weeks....and no real end in sight sends up some red flags. Even if it is just a blister.....is it bad enough to be a chronic problem that keeps him out of the lineup consistently?
  20. The Cubs history of being less than truthful about the nature of their pitchers conditions does not give you pause? Especially in light of who we are talking about? Explain how hiding this right now makes any kind sense. I cant. Perhaps it doesnt. But it seemed like we were dribbled all sorts of things with Prior and Wood that made it try to appear that the problems they were having were not serious. I dont know why they did it then...so I have no explanation as to why they would do it now. But......I think its safe to say that if they said that Kerry was having arm trouble it would cause great concern amongst the fanbase and as a result the media. So maybe they just dont want to freak people out or cause a media storm. Or maybe he just has a blister. I'm a Cubs fan. I have been beaten into being cynical.

  22. Whew. Ok. Glad its just me then.
  23. Why do I expect to hear that this finger problem has somehow morphed into something worse.
