  1. You realize that Bellinger isn't MVP Bellinger any more, correct? He's projected as a 2 fWAR player.
  2. Pretty sure the answers to those questions have been widely discussed. They would open up a spot for Shaw, save a little money on Bellinger while adding a TOR pitcher they are after, and then replace Bellingers bat in RF, through either another trade or FA. While picking up one of the best catching prospects in the game that's projected to see time in MLB this year. It doesn't take rocket science to see why that would be appealing.
  3. Hoerner for Castillo + Ford, after Bellinger to the Yankees.
  4. Everything I said is a documented fact.
  5. I imagine you as a 8 year kid who plugs their ears and says "I can't hear you" when you are clearly wrong.
  6. Do you even know what you are talking about at this point? Who said it was unique and something the Mariners wouldn't run into? The Mariners have never come out and offered up any of their pitchers for trade. The White Sox did, whether you want to believe that or not is up to you. Multiple teams were in discussions with the White Sox and then a week before the deadline Crochet made a statement that any trade would have to come with a contract extension with the new team, which scared a few of those teams off from pursuing further. The Cubs were publicly trading Contreras at the deadline as well with multiple teams in on him and actually had a deal in place with the Astros before the owner of the Astros vetoed it. It's mind blowing how little understanding you have of what you talking about.
  7. As if trades don't fall through because 2 teams can't come to an agreement on compensation. It's like Willson Contreras didn't exist to you.
  8. That's not taking him off the table, but ok. He was very much available in trade and was actually expected to be traded. Simply nothing came to fruition before the deadline. That tweet came out 7 minutes before the deadline.
  9. Unlike fans, teams dont believe an entire roster of prospects is a legit winning proposal. Unlike the Mariners, the White Sox publicly made Crochet available in trade last year.
  10. The only time any of the Mariners starters get mentioned in trade is from other teams blog posts making up hypothetical trades for them. The reason they are popular names is because the Mariners are trying to figure out a way to fill a couple offensive positions and the depth of their starters is a logical way to get it. However, it's never been suggested that they are actually looking to trade from that depth. Castillo is likely to be the only name they realistically discuss as a complete salary dump so they can make some moves in FA.
  11. I would eat a little money to get a Clayton Beeter in return. He's way down on their depth chart but he's the exact profile this FO loves and his strikeout numbers are really good.
  12. Unless the minor league service time is different than MLB, then between 2019 and 2021 he was on a roster more than enough time to accrue a full year.
  13. It would be nice if the owners could fire Manfred prior to his contract expiring. Larger bases, speeding up the game... fine. Changing fundamental rules to allow 1 player a freebie at bat? Suck a fat one. Imagine having to have a pitcher face someone like Aaron Judge back to back with the bases loaded.
  14. How? He's been around since 2019. His game log in 2019 spanned from June 1st to August 27th. Thats 88 days. You only need 90 days on a minor league roster to accumulate a full year. He damn near did that in his first year. Then you have 21-24. Thats 4 seasons. Assuming he is just shy of 5 years as it is, how would this be his 4th year?
  15. I can see where the 4th year opens up for Kilian. I'm assuming he didn't accumulate enough time in 2019 when he was drafted and 2020 didn't count so 2021-24 becomes 4.??? service time. But how does someone like Alcantara earn a 4th year option like he says? Alcantara is in the same boat as Kilian but with one of his 3 option years left, which will get used up this season with this season being his 5th year. So next year he will have accrued 5 full seasons, making him ineligible.
  16. He has 0.
  17. Caleb Kilian sucks dude. He also has no options left. Why are we sitting here crying over him?
  18. Bellinger would be a pretty terrible fit for Kauffman. He's hit 44 HRs with the Cubs in 2 years, projected 40 by statcast over that time. In Kauffman it's projected he would have only hit 28. The majority of Bellingers HRs were in left center. He has to hit it 20 feet further in Kauffman to get it out, with no basket.
  19. Marlins are the trade target, imo. I've been bringing up Nardi since the deadline last year. They've got 3 potential SP's to trade for to go with him in Alcantara, Cabrera, and Luzardo. I really dont want to target another lefty like Luzardo to stick in the rotation, so I would prefer Alcantara or Cabrera, with Cabrera being the more likely to be available, though Alcantara's actual money owed balloons up to $17M this year and for a team like the Marlins that could be an issue. So trade for Alcantara/Cabrera + Nardi, sign Grichuk as the bench bat, roll with whatever infield fodder you want, and sign a catcher or trade for someone like Fermin from the Royals. Still not in love with the overall team and wouldn't consider them favorites for anything. but that's about best case from my viewpoint.
  20. Think about how much more money they could count if they actually had a $240M roster that made the playoffs.
  21. They have 3 OFers, my guy. Suzuki is your starting DH as it stands. He is not on the bench.
  22. No they dont. They dont have to do anything besides watch his contract expire.
  23. If that's how Jed wants to roll in his final year, then I would be surprised if he got another job offer outside of Boston, and that's only because he could go there and suckle more milk from Epstein's teat.
  24. They've been spending tens of millions more on the roster than anyone in the division and have yet to make the playoffs. There's no maybe any more. My only hope is that when Jed is finally gone, the only person in the organization that is sincere about making a 90+ win team (Counsel) gets a larger voice in the meetings.
