  1. At the same time, how many teams are out there as potential landing spots for Bregman? The guy has a $150M offer from the Astros but is asking for $200M. The Yankees would be one and then move Chisholm to 2B, but if they get Walker I have to imagine that closes that door because they'll have around $30M to get 2 outfielders and BP. Probably trade one of their pitchers. Boston probably. They are trying to trade Casas and move Devers to first but they have to trade Casas first. Other than that, who's forking that money over for Bregman? Giants are set. Mets are set. Phillies are set. Blue Jays maybe?
  2. I would hope Jed would have more intelligence than to go into a lame duck season praying on the virtually the same roster with a couple bullpen additions and Paredes showing more than he did to end the year in Wrigley.
  3. I cant help but feel that's not what is happening at all. Jed was putting out a propaganda campaign about how he knew Bellinger was going to opt out when he offered him his contract and how he wasn't going to be around in 2025. I dont believe for one second that Bellinger is being shopped around because of anything related to Suzuki. Bellinger is being shopped because Jed straight up doesn't want him on the roster. He had other plans with that money.
  4. Good news is, if the Yankees are the only competition for Tucker, then there is no excuse for the Cubs being outbid. Their farm system sucks. Just a matter of how realistic the Astros are in their demands. If it anything like the Phillies asking for Gilbert or Kirby for Bohm, then better get comfortable with Suzuki back in RF.
  5. I can't imagine a guy like Tucker being cool with a positional demotion 1 year before his FA. Look at what Machado did. The guy was a career 3B and then the year going into his FA he was like... ya I'm a SS again. Signs his deal and then goes back to 3B.
  6. I mean, they dont have to do anything. He could just as easily be the RFer for the Cubs when Bellinger is gone.
  7. I would guess like 12/400. But I also guessed 14/560 on Soto last off season.
  8. I doubt he demanded anything. They probably talked with him and he brought up that he would like to play in the OF and would be willing to waive his NTC if a trade presented itself where he could be more than a DH.
  9. Ya. It really would be a first in history that a team would trade a player on the final year of his contract for lesser major league players with a little more control and a handful of prospects. The Astros aren't motivated to move Tucker because of money. They've offered Bregman a $150M contract. They would move Tucker because they dont like their chances of signing him to an extension, dont like their chances of making his final year worth it, and see him as a piece that can restock the system quickly for the next run. Oh and they could have Suzuki play in that band box of a stadium for RHH for a year and offload him for more prospects next offseason or at the deadline.
  10. A team that threw out Alvarez in left field for 421 innings wants no part of Suzuki? Interesting.
  11. Jesse Rogers just said that the Cubs have spoken to Suzuki's agent about a trade. Apparently Suzuki does not want to exclusively be a DH. So probably Suzuki involved in a deal for Tucker.
  12. This is like the equivalent of saying the sun will rise tomorrow.
  13. I bet if they could have signed Soto to the terms before his opt out, they would have done it. The issue this organization has is with years. They are so damn scared of what happens at age 37 that they are willing to overlook the multiple WS contenders they could build before then.
  14. Mookie Betts and Juan Soto.
  15. I made a reply with recent information on the alleged cost cutting of the Twins. There are fresh rumors about them getting calls on Correa but a strong hesitance to trade him. I dont know about you, but if I was forced to dump good players making a lot of money, a SS with plantar fasciitis in both feet making $33M a year is at the top of my list to trade. But they arent just looking to shed payroll. They are apparently looking to shed dead weight. I didn't quote you. I didn't attempt to answer your Pablo Lopez what if. So dont quote me and come back with some "that wasn't my question" horsefeathers.
  16. I dont care what your question was. I wasn't attempting to answer it.
  17. We've been talking about Kyle Tucker for a while on here. It made sense that he would be available in trade but not confirmed. Well, it was just confirmed. The question remains on just how serious that availability is. Like are we talking fair offer or more than the Yankees gave up for 1 year of Soto? But if there was 1 player that Jed could point at and say this is why we didn't think Juan Soto was a good organizational move, it's Tucker.
  18. Hard for me to believe the Twins are going to be trading any players to reduce payroll. Maybe Buxton. They don't have any really high priced players besides Correa and they are willing to listen on offers but don't sound very motivated to move him and if they aren't motivated to move Correa then I can't see who they would be trading in a payroll cut.
  19. Amaya hits righties better than Thaiss does. Who cares about handedness in that case?
  20. Maybe because you are only looking at offensive numbers when it comes to the catching position. Kelly is one of the better defensive catchers in the game. He's a pretty big upgrade over Thaiss who is not particularly good at anything except blocking.
  21. Cardinals are about to take a massive hit. They are moving Contreras to 1B.
  22. Also... why are you saying last 3 years and going from 2021-23? Last 3 years Snell put up 10.9 fWAR in 412 innings. 5.4 innings a start. 0.143 fWAR per start. Castillo put up 9.3 fWAR in 522.2 innings. 5.9 innings per start. 0.105 fWAR per start. Snell has been damn near 50% better than Castillo the last 3 years when he is on the mound.
  23. Castillo would MAYBE get exactly what he has right now, if he were a FA. Blake Snell threw 104 innings last year and put up 0.8 more fWAR than Castillo did throwing 175.1. Blake Snell is unquestionably the better pitcher right now. His stats have been consistent. Nothing has dipped, in fact his velocity went up last year. Castillo on the other hand has lost movement, velocity, and strikeouts. If you squint you can maybe see a path where Castillo could get $25M, maybe $26M, because of what Severino got, though there's probably a tax on Severino's deal for having to play in a minor league park. So Castillo may not truly be underwater, but he's only breathing from the tip of his nose.
  24. He also took a fastball off the elbow after he came back. If you look at his spray chart and stats, his exit velocity dipped, launch angle dipped, and he became more of a pull hitter last year. Whether or not that's due to injuries and not just a 30 year old aging catcher, who knows. Not all that interested in finding out because I doubt 1 blip on the radar is scaring the Braves away from asking for a stupid amount, especially after declining the option on d'Arnaud.
  25. It's all revenue, Einstein. The Mets are Cohen's play toy. His revenue stream is not coming from the Mets. He's operated that franchise in the red. He can give the middle finger to every franchise in baseball and he just gave the biggest one to the richest team in the sport.
