  1. All a pitch has to do to be a strike is cross the plate at any point in the zone. So even if it crosses the plane of the plate by the seam of the baseball and then falls out of the zone by the time it is caught, it's still a strike. I have no idea the accuracy of the statcast measurements, but all of these broadcast KZones are not official. They are all just estimations.
  2. Meh. Nico Hoerner was also pretty clearly safe but because of the out call on the field the run didn't count. And depending on which automated strike zone you go by, the umpire was right on the strike call.
  3. The only thing I hate about the Kyle Tucker situation is that I fully expect him to be playing for another team next year and that is just totally unacceptable.
  4. I dont see the Cubs aggressively pursuing a 30th percentile pitcher, especially one that is still treated like the franchise ace.
  5. There's no one available out there that's going to shore up anything on May 27th. The best you could hope for would be someone struggling on another team that the Cubs see something to tweak that could at least be better than Brown. Someone like a Simeon Woods Richardson that just got demoted to AAA, using up his final option year on a team on the outside looking in,
  6. Throw a single strike to a #9 hitter with a 500 OPS.
  7. Considering the Marlins own the rights to his services for another 4+ years, I think the Marlins will very much be involved.
  8. 7th inning against the Marlins sounds about right for a player that was acquired as a salary dump for Juan Bello. Ryan going to be closing games for the White Sox next year the way he's pitching, maybe sooner than next year.
  9. Too anxious. Every at bat he took the first pitch and then swung at the 2nd for an easy ground out because every single one was a bad pitch to swing at. He wont be the last person to experience nerves in his first MLB game.
  10. Player gets traded and wants to win on his new team. Thats never happened before.
  11. What's idiotic is supporting a team raking in top 4 revenue and refusing to do what it takes to be a top 4 franchise.
  12. Cool. Then stop supporting the team like Cardinals fans are beginning to do.
  13. If the Cubs dont extend Tucker after what they traded to get him, and especially if they trade him at the deadline, I hope the fanbase is at least intelligent enough to black out the stadium. It's unacceptable to sit here as a top market, charging top dollar, to continuously sit out on top tier players because it's "too expensive."
  14. Pretty sure you can blame Hoyer for that instead of Ricketts. You know... the PoBO that doesn't jump the market, but instead waits for the players that slip through the cracks.
  15. Kind of surprised you dont hear the Cubs connected with Luke Jackson more. He seems right up this FO's alley and coming off a down year where his $7M option was declined, he should be rather cheap.
  16. Wasnt Schwarbers arb projection like a whopping $1M more than what Jed signed Joc Pederson for?
  17. When history shows that no matter how good the prospect is there's a 80% failure rate, it's wise to have a plan B.
  18. What's with the repeating of questions with obvious answers that have been answered multiple times. In his earlier post was Canario on the bench? Does Canario have any options left? What is the answer to a player that doesn't make the roster and is out of options? In the end... who cares if hes on the team or not? He's not a going to be a starter that can make a lasting impact on a season. He's not a super utility man that can play all over the field and make a lasting impact on a season. He's a guy that's going to get maybe 150 spot PA's. Trade him, DFA him... who cares?
  19. They already told Alcantara 6 months ago he isn't going to be traded. Allegedly, the Marlins are facing the same possible grievance the A's are in that if they dont up their payroll to a certain level then the players union is coming after them.
  20. If a floor was put in place, you can rest assured the Cubs have been above that floor the entire time Ricketts has owned the team.
  21. That's fine. Wrigley has the smallest CF in baseball.
  22. I don't believe they are in on any of the left over SPs besides Roki. Probably more likely to see a SP come from a trade. With the amount of money going to pitchers that would bump Assad to the bullpen, I have to imagine they would rather just go with Assad and build the depth under him.
  23. I would think he'll probably get offers to start. The Mariners are going to have to do something eventually. Feel like the Cubs are going to invest the majority of their Bellinger savings on RP. There are some decent options out there that were non tendered to fill in the bench. Ramon Laureano would be an ok, cheap option for a 4th outfielder/bench bat for LHP.
  24. There is nothing out of Cubs camp suggesting they are trading Suzuki. Even in Rosenthals piece he mentions this. The name only comes up because of the DH rumor and that Suzuki would potentially waive his NTC, but that doesn't matter if the Cubs aren't trading him.
  25. He hasnt pitched in 2 years. Theres no shot hes getting a rotation spot out of the gate.
