  1. They havent been trying to get rid of him. They have said to have been listening on offers for him, but their asking price to make it happen has always been a non starter for anyone interested. If they wanted to get rid of him, he would have been gone.
  2. You are asking to trade for a teams starter to become your weak side platoon bench bat. You are never getting that value.
  3. Bohm is not a player I would displace Shaw with.
  4. You can't defend against walks and homeruns. I dont care what your FIP says when you routinely give up runs. You win games by runs, not FIP.
  5. So you are banking on the underlying numbers when it's been the same story every year? Is that not the definition of insanity?
  6. What is so special about MacKenzie Gore? He's forever a middling pitcher. He gets whiffs and strikeouts, but he also walks a ton of guys and gives up a ton of hard contact. So his ERA is always crap but his expected numbers make him look like he could be better. But its the same story every year. We are looking for a guy to throw out there in game 1/2 in the playoffs. I feel like MacKenzie Gore is a shiny version of Shota.
  7. Jed working hard now.
  8. Is he trying to move Tatis? Nothing else they can do would "rival" trading Soto.
  9. They made a 1 year trade for Kyle Tucker where they gave up some pretty decent long term assets, then punted away the rest of the offseason and deadline, and are letting him walk. Whether or not the Cubs can afford it, it's probably what's about to happen.
  10. Hoyer doesn't sound that committed to top of the reliever market, either.
  11. Imai offers coming in low. Everyones favorite leverage team being used to up the price.
  12. I'd rather just keep Shaw and trade Caissie/Alcantara/Mo/Long/insert name here. If I'm trading Shaw and the pitcher coming back only has 2 years of control left, that pitchers metrics better look close to this than this
  13. Shaw has 6 years of control left. He is 10 days short of 1 year of service time.
  14. Shaw has 6 years of control and ended the season putting up damn near all of his 1.5 fWAR in half a season. I'm not trading that and some for a guy like Edward Cabrera that has used up nearly 4 years of service time and finally broke 100 innings pitched because he was finally healthy enough to accomplish that. Or MacKenzie Gore with 2 years of control left and is extremely overrated, imo. Joe Ryan is the closest thing to a mayyyybe, but I'm still not convinced I'm trading 6 for 2 and additional pieces for a Joe Ryan.
  15. I'm not adding anything onto Shaw for any of those pitchers.
  16. Whatever Nico cost to extend, it's more than the Cubs seem to want to spend. Remember, we were talking about a Nico-less Cubs team last year because he was coming up in a lot of trade talks, allegedly. I'm not trading Shaw for his "pitching counterpart." What do you even envision that being? Taj Bradley?
  17. Nah. I don't move on. I stop supporting the mindset. Building an inferior team in a more expensive way just to limit the numbers of years committed is completely stupid. This team wants to zig when the market is zagging, and they are more than capable of just matching the market. You had one of the best bats in the game, under 30 years old, that is projected to be one of the cheaper, recent, mega deals and you walk away because it's going to be too long of a contract. But talking to a 32 year old and paying him just slightly less of the annual budget through age 37 makes all the sense in the world.
  18. I'll be super pissed off if this team signs a Bregman just because they think they cant get him on a 4-5 year deal at $30M AAV and Tucker signs a mid to upper 30's deal.
  19. You already doubled the offer. Jed's philosophy only allows for one player to have a 9 figure contract. The offer was 2/99.99M.
  20. If he did it was in response to the offer he was floated.
  21. Was it not Josh Naylor to the Mariners?
  22. You were given multiple level headed responses that explained exactly that. You were even told it by the person you claimed said that baserunning increased wRC+ (they didn't) and your response to everything was "I wasn't responding to that."
  23. I'm the least angry person you will ever meet. Disrespectful? Sure. Sometimes. When you work in my line of work I could not care less about feelings. Wrong is wrong and you were wrong. That's a you problem, not a me problem.
  24. Bellinger, since he was a rental, yes. Taillon, no.
  25. Why hate? I actually find it quite comical that someone can have something explained to them point blank and still go back and quote the entire thing and still not get it. It's pretty amusing.
