  1. I liked Cowles when they acquired him but a tough year for him. Maybe they can resign. If I were him I'd probably look for a fresh start elsewhere to be honest, just for the sake of it.
  2. When Taillon is back wouldn't be the worst idea to skip a start for him. Right now we're a little thin.
  3. Interesting. Velo is down significantly this year.
  4. 3 years in a row the same thing happening is the odd part. Feast or famine offense, rarely in between.
  5. They're not playing remotely like a 90 win team right now, The only thing that matters is if they do in Oct. Each of the last 3 seasons their offense has been extremely streaky. Most of the guys seem to hit or not hit at the same time, which is very weird, and frustrating as a fan when they're cold. Not sure i've ever seen anything like it on a Cubs team.
  6. He definitely wasn't sharp today. FB right over the heart of the plate and a hanging slider down the middle. The velo seems fine but i've noticed the command being spotty the last while.
  7. Kirk is one of the slowest runners in baseball.
  8. Old dudes want a shot at a ring i guess.
  9. Where would be play in Sept? Random pinch hitter vs LHP?
  10. Just compared to the other seasons he's had with us.
  11. Been disappointed in his defense this year. Hopefully he comes back sharp next year.
  12. I wouldn't sign him. He'll be 33 and getting older and has no positional value.
  13. He was going to be a free agent at the end of 2021, before the DH came in. The Cubs struck out far too much and that was a way they tried to solve it, so i kinda get the move. Someone had to go. Sucks they got nothing for him though.
  14. For some reason this org decided to make a bread-dead human being a catcher. I still say he should have been a corner INF or corner OF. But he helped us nab a WS so can't really complain.
  15. Cody Bellinger is going to very soon top the 4.4 WAR he put up with the Cubs in 2023. In fact he's on pace for around 5 WAR. Ruh-roh.
  16. What's crazy is they weren't able to trade him before the non-tender. The DH wasn't around back then so whatever. He was a 2 WAR player at the time.
  17. When my little son said he wanted a Brujan jersey I punched him right in the face. He ded.
  18. Almost every hitter on this team sucks right now. Rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic won't do much.
  19. You're not exaggerating. Cubs are tied for worst in baseball for fewest runs scored since the ASB. The odds of going from one of the top 3 or so offenses in the 1st half to the worst is so unbelievably low.
  20. He's been our 2nd best hitter since the ASB with a 110 wRC+
  21. Not sure if this was posted but https://x.com/maddie_m_lee/status/1960857265805910410
  22. Maybe Counsell figured he has a ton of experience hitting at this ballpark and that gave him an edge? I dunno. Other than that i agree it's odd.
  23. They gave Tucker a couple of days off to reset and it seemed to work. I don't see the harm in doing it with Seiya instead of watching him spaz at strike calls where the umps made the right calls on. I obviously wouldn't replace Seiya with anyone beyond that.
  24. Craig Counsell or any other manager isn't beyond criticism. You don't need to be a "behaviorlist" (i assume you mean "behaviourist") to see a player is frustrated when he's frequently having fits on strike calls he doesn't like, many of which he's been wrong on, which is unusual for him. I can't imagine who has watched the games is going to argue he's not frustrated. Same with Tucker during his slump.
