  1. Remember when they extended Nico by 1 extra year? That was criminal. Hope PCA gets 3-4 extra years.
  2. Pay him 500k per base on balls.
  3. The projections are always wrong because with 26 players plus guys in the minors etc there's a lot of variance that can happen via injuries, performance, luck etc. FG is saying 84 wins is the most likely outcome but that can vary by something like +/- 10 wins or whatever if a lot goes right or wrong and everything in- between.
  4. I don't really see anything in the statcast metrics to be concerned about last year for either of them. For Happ maybe he lost a few HR in the Wrigley wind, and maybe Shaw's excellent glove at 3B cost Swanson some outs at SS. Who knows. This season is anyone's guess but I'm not too concerned for them A lot more question marks in the rotation IMO and I think those answers will probably determine how well the season goes.
  5. They show a bunch of regression from our offense and pitching. I think we did over-achieve on both last year
  6. Read somewhere that the plan is for Brown to stay slightly stretched out via a multi inning relief role. He pitched 2 innings last time
  7. Carlson has hit LHP a lot better (.757 OPS) than RHP in his career, he could possibly play in RF sometimes vs LHP with Seiya DH'ing, especially if Shaw is scuffling. Conforto probably won't get much playing time when Seiya is back and everyone is healthy, he's blocked everywhere and he'd be on the team as insurance in case of injury somewhere or Mo scuffles. I can't see Kingery ever getting a start even if an INF lands on the IL. He'd be a PR and riding the bench in case of mid-game injury. I think Shaw as the only backup INF is fine as long as they never start him at DH, which would be easy since he can move around and give regulars some rest at DH vs LHP. However, but it would be nice to have a good PR in the 9th for Mo and Kelly/Amaya. Carlson only has average speed.
  8. With this AZ hitting environment i could care less about how guys are hitting any of our pitchers. The concern with Jamo should be the velo (obviously) and his mechanics. I think if he's feeling good with his command and overall mechanics they can still start him when the season starts and pray he isn't batting practice and see what happens. Even with prime mechanics if the velo doesn't somehow improve he's almost certainly going to put up below-average results unless he simply gets lucky, with a real chance of him being cooked.
  9. Well some of them matter, like velo. It's just interesting stuff to look at
  10. They'd be nuts not to keep at least one of Happ/Seiya/Nico and if they do they should get it done right now. I guess Shaw could move to corner OF if they wanted. His arm looked like arse on the one throw from CF I've seen so far.
  11. Besides our guys and Jazz Chisholm the FA class stinks on the position side next offseason. Seiya and Happ are the best OF that will be available so they won't be replaced 1:1 in FA. We know there's no chance they pay for Skubal. Maybe they'd sign someone like Peralta.
  12. MLB teams would euthanize puppies during the 7th inning stretch if it would make them money.
  13. They might tap Rea first before Brown if they need another SP.
  14. I'm a bit worried about his secondaries because they looked mediocre this spring. Interested to see how the fb plays in mlb, looks pretty beastly. Didn't know about his IVB, nice find.
  15. Guys are on pitch counts not innings limits these days. Horton was very efficient, not a lot of Ks, BBs, or baserunners, so 147 ip isn't as bad as it seems. We should all start quoting annual total pitch counts more, and stat sites should put those stats more front and center.
  16. Alcantara, maybe those long levers takes him a while to get in sync. People said he started slowly last year.
  17. 2 fielding errors by Shaw in RF today. Yikes.
  18. Even dumber is asking a guy who has never managed to manage the team. Maybe they'll ask Judge to be their closer next time.
  19. Hope he found his glove lol.
  20. With social media and YouTube etc we see a lot more from players than we used to, every little story can be shared . Some players seem really nice, like Seiya, Matthew Boyd etc. and others act like clowns and typical jocks. A hyper-competitive tournament will bring out the clown in the clowns. Disappointed in some of the behaviour of a bunch of players. They're not only representing their countries but the sport also.
  21. I think Bregman may see Palencia now
  22. Telecast just said Cubs told them Palencia can only pitch the 9th in a save situation.
  23. McLean throwing gas holy cow.
