  1. Agreed. I think it will be Hayden. Then if the decide Palencia needs to go down or if Wesneski sucks and has to go down, I would expect a dfa coming for Thompson to add someone to thrn40 man. No idea who. Pannone has done real well as a starter, at least statistically. But I know nothing else about him.
  2. Just to be clear, 15% Thompson is Keegan, correct? Not Riley. I think the K Thompson ship has sailed. I think he will be a DFA soon enough. But he is on the 40 man, so if not now, probably never. And I am leaning never.
  3. You beat me to it. I was going to say the same thing.
  4. Is he in the 40 man? I think Keegan is. But I doubt it is him.
  5. So no IL stint? Honestly they need Hendricks to do better. But losing him would have really thinned an already thin rotation and pen. When Taillon comes back I am hoping either Assad or Brown can help the pen. For 3 innings yesterday Hendricks did look good. Then he fell apart. They got 2 in the second with the hardest hit ball at 72 mph. But in the 4th and especially the 6th he was toast.
  6. Maybe Tailon comes up one start early. Brown stays in the rotation.
  7. Exactly. He has looked very good so far. Hardest hit ball so far was 72mph. Just had very bad luck.
  8. When did Wesneski throw last? Is it him and Thompson in Iowa and Arias in Tenn that are the only other pitchers on the 40 man?
  9. I would love Yu when he was on the team. But they did the right thing trading him and restocking the farm. I wouldn’t want him until he is 41, like the Padres have him for.
  10. Is this the roster spot for Edwards?
  11. Yep, I bought in 2010 in Arizona. Rented the place for 6 years. Decided to sell and buy another place I would vacation at. Did that for a few years. Then Covid hit so got to work from home. I am a retired FF but I also had another part time job. And my wife worked full time. Anyway, we started spending half the year in Az and then decided one day to sell in Chicago in May of 21. Been here full time ever since. So moving to Az was a real soft landing. We already knew we liked it and knew the neighborhood.
  12. Well not exactly strictly for baseball or sports. But I did always know I would never move to the eastern time zone. As for Arizona, I do like the heat without humidity. But come August I do find myself in Chicago for a month. Go to 5-7 Cubs games and enjoy a little cooler temperatures. Az is about 110 in August. The thing I like better in Arizona over Florida is Az has way more sunny days without rain. And, of course, much less humidity.
  13. Might sound strange, but when I moved a criteria I had when deciding where to move was time zone. I would have never moved from Chicago to the east coast. Wanted a warm climate so we chose Arizona over Florida or Carolina with one of the biggest reasons being I like the time zone. All baseball season Az is 2 hours earlier. I am someone who gets up early and probably is sleeping by 10. Not an issue here. In the east coast I would miss a lot of live sports.
  14. Probably were. Great win. Palencia did a nice job. Saved the pen a little.
  15. Think so? I am not sure. Hope he pitches the 9th.
  16. Agreed. Busch looks like a solid bat. Morel looks good as well. And Suzuki looks like a star. And if the pitching could get healthy it looks pretty solid. And we have a few guys who might help later.
  17. This is true. But each pitched a second day in a row. I doubt either is available tomorrow. Seldom do pen arms work 3 days in a row.
  18. Good point. Guess it is what it is. Hope Assad gives them a longer start.
  19. That would be ideal. Could they use Palencia a few innings and send him down after being up one day? Being back a fresh arm. Not sure they can do that.
  20. Not a question of what I prefer. Obviously with a 6 run lead, even against the Dodgers you have to like the Cubs chances. Just saying it sucks to have to tax the pen so much in this one. A game that if it didn’t rain the Cubs would have won easily and most likely had a fresh pen for the trip.
  21. Couldn’t help yourself. Has to throw one more comment. For the record I am glad they are going to play on. I am glad my weather app was wrong. But i am a bit concerned about 5 innings from the pen. Not so much them holding the lead. Just being used. Not a great way to start a west coast trip.
  22. I said it it rained long enough, the field would be tough to play on. That was based on a 6PM time I got for the rain stopping. You suggested it would be common sense to continue the game because the Cubs were winning by a large margin. I disagreed with that. I think the common sense that would be used would be based on players safely. Not the score of the game. Now, if they can get the field in playing shape, they will play. That is all that should go into the decision, IMO. Not the score. I am fine if you don’t agree. Just not fine with you coming at me if I don’t agree with you.
