  1. I agree with all of this. Which is why I have said the owners don’t want a cap either. I think they are using it as something to show how they compromised with the players when they take it off the table. A true “fair” cap with a floor and a ceiling would never be approved by the owners.
  2. Exactly. Seiya gets NO RESPECT. Honestly the ASG is a joke. How do so many people get more votes than PCA? How is Seiya not on the team to replace Ohtani?
  3. That is great. I mean listing Triantos as one of there biggest disappointments and the guy is actually hitting over .300 means the system is doing amazing. I would like to see more power from him and he isn’t taking a jump up. But if he is one of their biggest disappointments that is a great minor league year for the organization.
  4. I agree with a cap there has to be a floor. Which is why I believe the owners will never follow through with their insistence on a cap. Too many low revenue teams would have to raise their teams budget. I believe the owners are just as much against a floor/ceiling cap as the players are. Even if they proposed a $260M cap with the floor being even 80% of the cap, that would raise their teams budget floor to over $200M. Several teams spend less than half that and some as little as 1/3 that amount. I also doubt large revenue teams will want to share revenues equally with the rest of the league. Just way too many issues for the owners to really want a cap. I think they are putting that into the negotiations just so they have something they can take out to act like they are compromising. But in reality they would never all sign off on it anyway.
  5. Damn it. Hope the Reds don’t get us back for those walk offs.
  6. Depends on if left handed hitters are batting. There really isn’t a “closer”
  7. 3 more outs. This would be a huge team win. Just have to hold on.
  8. I don’t think it matters whether it be foot first or hand first. As you said, as long as they don’t over slide the base if they get there before the tag they should be safe.
  9. Me too. But I just follow based on where “experts” pick guys. And it seems the Cubs have done ok there.
  10. Sadly, probably who we will see. Not many choices. 🤮
  11. Well considering the Pirates didn’t sweep until today, and as of today the Cubs were 7.5 back, I would think you would know they couldn’t be 4 back. You didn’t post your comment before Fridays game.
  12. There is absolutely no way the Cubs could be 4 game back at the ASB.
  13. Why does Suzuki get so little respect when it comes to his offensive production? I get him not making the AS when you have Ohtani and Schwarber as options for DH. But when Ohtani comes out of the game how is Herrera added over Seiya? That is ridiculous. Cubs get no respect in the AS game.
  14. This is a draft where I don’t have to be convinced about anyone they picked. I think it was a solid draft. Of course, time will tell. EDIT: didn’t know they had another pick after the 3rd round. So, now I don’t understand why they picked who they did with that last pick. That appears to be a money saving pick.!
  15. Ok, cool. Maybe they will do that then. Wasn’t sure what kids got in college.
  16. That isn’t the issue. The issue is the HS senior being talked into signing instead of taking money from the college and not going pro. How much do teams have to overslot that guy for him not to go to college?
  17. I don’t think it is as easy to do that as it was before kids started getting paid to play ball in college. They may not do that this year.
  18. Sounds like a good pick, anyway. So far I like the two guys they took.
  19. Great list. My guess is the Cubs do not take anyone from this list. I think they go with a guy ranked outside the first round to save money for someone later. So no one has mentioned yet.
  20. If I am reading this correctly does that mean if the Cubs was $280M the floor would be $252M (90% of the cap)? If so, that is absolutely not happening. Owners would never sign off on that. Which, again, is why I think this salary cap issue they are bringing up is silly. They will never all agree on it. The floor would have to be 60% of the ceiling. And that is a hard sell when you are billing it as a way to have all teams competitive.
