  1. They will probably extend him, citing his "intangibles" and "defense" while letting guys like Tucker and Suzuki walk out the door
  2. Are the Brewers the best team ever or something? LOL I mean, my goodness, what's it going to take for that team to lose a couple of games in a row. Doesn't seem to matter who they play, they are 10 games over .500 against +.500 teams
  3. It's a damn disgrace that Dansby Swanson is the highest paid position player on this team
  4. You get what you pay for and the Cubs didn't pay for much at the deadline. This might end up being one of those seasons we reflect on and say "what if"
  5. The offense is slumping hard right now, need them to get it going..
  6. Kinda sucks honestly, for the game. Never want to see a young pitcher get hurt
  7. It has to be Brown that goes down. And tbh, he deserves it. Way too inconsistent. I do think he’d be good out of the pen though
  8. It's time for the Cubs to get Amaya/Assad/Taillon back... having a team at full strength would help quite a bit. I keep hearing they'll be back in August but hopefully it's not the end of August.
  9. There's no doubt that they used to be cheap AF back in the day. But the last 5-10 years or so, they've shown me that they do care about winning... they are just hilariously incompetent and not football people at all, so they always hire the John Fox's, Matt Nagy's and Eberflus's of the world. I feel like they finally got it right though. And they spent a TON of money this past off season. If Ricketts pays Tuck this off-season and keeps him in Chicago... I'll give him his flowers. That's the standard for me. They can't make a move like that and not keep him
  10. Pretty good start today from Rea and solid bounce back game for Pomeranz
  11. My original point was: the Bears are the only team that cares about winning in this city. I never said they necessarily have the best ownership group. Unfortunately, desire to win doesn't translate to success. My next comments only re-summarized that point lol.
  12. The Bears might be super incompetent, but I've never questioned their *desire* to win. Ricketts - he has gotten us a WS and I'll always be grateful for that, but he also chased out of town the same guy that built that team - Epstein was tired of being hamstrung by cheap ownership. They had a juggernaut team and never made another significant move after 2017 to improve it. Ricketts has done a lot for Wrigley Field and the community, and he has won a WS so I guess by default he's the best. Essentially, he's the fastest snail. I am constantly questioning his desire to win and to spend money to build a championship team.
  13. The Bears (McCaskey family) are the only ownership in this city that cares about winning. Ricketts, Reinsdorf x2, Wirtz - they don't give a damn about winning.
  14. I'll give it up to the Bears, they might be totally inept and as poorly run as the Cubs, but they seem to be the one team in this city that actually cares about winning
  15. One thing we can all agree on though. Those new light blue unis are as good as it gets. I need to get myself a Busch one
  16. I was gonna say, I haven’t seen them wear the blue uni’s at home since basically that era. Between these and the new light blue unis, we have the best jerseys in the league
  17. I firmly believe in the motto "you get what you pay for". Kelly would have been expensive, but he'd be the clear #3 on this team and someone I'd trust in the playoffs. I do not trust anybody right now after Shota and boyd.
  18. This is exactly how I feel. Even if it wasn't a controllable SP and he wants to sell us on the fact that none of those guys were moved - he had other avenues to upgrade the team, whether it was Houser or Kelly. If he got Kelly all of us would be saying it was a good trade deadline.
  19. I think they'll have to get a bit creative but it can be done, I mean Happ is still a 3 WAR player and will be a rental for a team next year. If they convinced a team to take Bellinger and that contract I am 99% certain they can convince someone to take Ian. Worst case, they have to pitch in $5 million or give up an inconsequential lower level prospect. If they can stick Caissie in LF next year and keep Tucker, I think it goes a long way with the fans. I can see their vision if that ends up happening.
  20. Caissie should be playing LF next year. Happ should be the guy that gets moved, one way or the other. I'm sure he'd wave that no trade clause to go to a contender like the Yankees
