  1. I have never seen someone as bad at hitting with RISP as Swanson
  2. Still remember watchint Ryno warm up in the on deck circle at my very first Cubs game back with my Dad, my brothers and my uncle. I still remember that game fondly after my uncle passed. RIP Ryno. You will be missed. Thanks for the joy you brought so many people.
  3. Tends to happen when one org is run competently and the other is run by Jed Hoyer
  4. I mean look at where they rank on fangraphs. Its not a very good rotation. They dont strike guys out and they arent very good at getting ground balls. Boyd and Imanaga are ok pitchers, Taillon is guarenteed to give up a minimum 4 runs per start when healthy and the rest of the rotation is questionable. Horton has looked better though
  5. They needed pitching reinforcements over a month ago. This rotation is bad
  6. Moving Wiggins would be a braindead move from this org. We are constantly struggling with pitching depth and finding guys to eat innings. Pitching should be the focus for this year and for the future so why deal from a need. Id much rather deal Cassie, Alcantara, Rojas, Ballesteros over Wiggins. We have some depth on the position side so deal from that rather than from our pitchers. Wiggins and Horton represent our best chance at finally developing a homegrown ace with the frontline starters profile we need. They should be just as untouchable as in my opinion. I'm not moving either for anything short of a young starter with at least 3 years of cost control. I think we can land two good starters without dealing either. Our position player pool and some pitchers from our second tier (Gallager, Sanders, Birdsell) plus lotto tickets should be able to land the pitching we need this deadline.
  7. I'm a Cubs fan. Why stop watching because I dont have confidence in those pitchers? That doesnt make any sense to me.
  8. Very true. Arrieta is a great example. 2nd half of 2015 and the first half of 2016. He was great. He fell off in the back half of 2016 a bit but he had a great run.
  9. I dont trust Shota. Hes prone to the home run and a fly ball guy. He also lacks the power profile youd look for in an elite starter. Hes good sure but I dont trust him.
  10. The Cubs are in the bottom half of the league as a collective pitching staff. 21st overall. Its a staff that doesnt strike guys out (27th in k/9), gives up a lot of homeruns (22nd in the league) and relies on weak contact and strong defense to carry it which isnt great when your staff doesnt generate a ton of groundballs. Its a uniquely Cubs problem that we havent drafted and developed or signed one in years. Even Jon Lester, who is an outstanding big game pitcher and a hall of very good pitcher, was no where near the level of ace that a big time organization like the Cubs should have every year. Look at the Yankees, Max Fried (Cole when healthy), Look at the Mets, Kodai Senga, Look at the Phillies Zach Wheeler, Tigers Tarik Skubal, Dodgers Yamamoto, Astros Hunter Brown, Brewers have Peralta, Misorowski, Woodruff. The only other team even comparable to us in pitching is the Blue Jays but they are a pretender. The Cubs have Matthew Boyd, a guy on pace to hit his career innings that he hit one time almost 6 years ago and Shota a fly ball pitcher coming off injury. I dont trust either of those guys for a deep playoff run. We have every single reason to be concerned about the Cubs pitching staff and their lack depth and a go to ace.
  11. I am not an exceedingly negative person. I'm actually an optimist for the most part. Talk to anyone who knows me in my life and they will agree. I am an emotional person. I do not trust this roster at all.
  12. Look I got emotional and overreacted. Its not 10 but I think of the current playoff teams, the Cubs are the weakest team as constructed. I do not trust this pitching staff at all and its very hard to win when you are constantly having to come from behind.
  13. That's my point though. The fact that we dont have one of those guys with our resources is a massive problem.
  14. Look, I apologize if i offended anyone. Yeah i'm an emotional person, i have been my whole life, and yeah I overreacted. I'm just very annoyed and I'm losing my optimism on this team. This roster has lost its shine for me as its flaws become more and more apparent. Give me one reason to be even remotely optimistic about this team. I'm sick of this organization constantly crying poor and throwing out JAGs like Brown and then having the nerve to charge almost 15 dollars for a beer. Its ridiculous. When a team with a payroll in the bottom half of the league consistently produces a more competitive roster than a top 5 market in the sport, that's a problem. Tom has been yapping about sustained success for more than 15 years now and his ownership regime has produced playoff caliber teams only five times. We have 62 games left in this season and barring significant pitching additions, which I am not convinced Jed will make, I am struggling to see a WS caliber roster. I like Boyd, I like Imanaga but I do not trust them to start a playoff game.
  15. There is one team capable of winning the WS right now and its the Brewers because they know how to build a team and organization correctly. We are stuck with Jed Hoyer. Cubs are maybe the 11th "best" team in baseball and dropping fast. This pitching staff is so bad that it brings down a slightly above average offense.
  16. Yes. This team is not capable of a WS win as constructed.
  17. He manages to build one team that might sneak into the playoffs in 5 years, And even if they do manage to sneak into the playoffs they wont go anywhere. This is an extremely overrated team. There are massive holes in the pitching staff, LF, the bench, the bullpen. We have zero depth anywhere. To even possibly be considered competitive they need two ace caliber pitchers, a mid rotation guy, two lock down pen arms and a 3B to shift Shaw to the bench.
  18. The Brewers are going to win the division. Jed has proven time and time again that he does not know how to build a playoff caliber team. The Brewers do. They constantly have top tier pitching with incredible depth and a good and deep offensive lineup. Not to mention they constantly develop elite prospects both internationally and domestically. I still cannot beieve there are people here who want to extend Jed. Hes a yes man, whos only job is to make sure Tom makes the most money possible. Jed does not care about winning. Hes been here for almost 5 years and has yet to put together a WS caliber roster in a major market.
  19. Cant believe its the horsefeathers Royals that are the team that knock us out of first place.
  20. Brown needs to be kicked out of wrigley and never allowed back in.
  21. Lets hope this is the breakout similar to PCA and Amaya in previous seasons!
  22. Swap Wiggins with Birdsell or Brown. I think the Dbacks would have interest in him
