  1. Carlson is the right choice. There is still a good hitter there imo. He had a good spring too.
  2. Im gonna be honest, I'm expecting a dominant year out of him. I think he's that good.
  3. I remember the biggest thing that made me hate the pick when he was drafted was that he couldnt throw strikes. The stuff looked dominant but he was wild. The strides that he has made in that department are very encouraging to the point where I see at least a number 3 starter but I'm pretty optimistic that he is going to keep improving this season and will considerably raise his ceiling. The secondaries clearly need some work but man, this guy just looks like a TOR starter. Having Wiggins, Horton and Cabrera potentially anchoring our rotation for the next few years is exciting.
  4. I think he's a big leaguer but maybe not for the Cubs. Would love to find a way to get the bat into the lineup this year but I dont see too many opportunities at the moment. I think hes trade bait at the deadline.
  5. Its not necessarily his athleticism, more his defensive capabilities. Definitely can change as development occurs so I'm not writing him off or anything in the defensive realm and he's just a COF either way imo. I'm hoping Conrad is blocking him in RF in the future haha. I think he will be the better fit there long term.
  6. I think he ends up in LF long term but the bat is exciting. The system needs more power and he has a lot of that.
  7. Rojas has been very impressive this spring. Really beginning to wonder if ive been too low on him going into the year. Yeah, I get it, its spring training but he looks really good.
  8. He's always reminded me of a Chris Taylor type with significantly less power. Maybe that power will grow as he continues to enter his prime years but I do love the contact rates. I feel like the Cubs still see him as a cheap super utility type in the future. I dont see a starter but a valuable bench piece long term if he hits that outcome. Like you said I love the swing change too. Maybe that will unlock some in game power this year.
  9. I agree with you but all he needs to do for me to not worry this season is keep his numbers close to his career line and eat innings. Hes a solid pitcher. I would be surprised if hes holding back some effort since he is going to be in the WBC and hes just trying to get the arm loose for the season and being conservative with his approach to ramping up.
  10. Hoping for a Cruz breakout this year. I need a low level guy to replace Christian Hernandez now. He needs to stay healthy this season and I can see him having a big developmental year this year.
  11. Id like to have Conforto on the bench because of the power. Not expecting much out of him though. Could go either way on McCormick or Carlson.
  12. Cabada kinda feels like one of those guys who could have elite plate discipline. Really excited to see what he can do this year. I know I keep talking about him but hes exciting. I think Jason's placing of him is right where I would put him as well. I think he will be pushing for top 10 this season. Big fan of Southisene. His offensive style reminds me of the IF version of Kepley for the Cubs right now (lazy comp I know) . Hope he put on some muscle this offseason and the power starts to show up.
  13. Anyone on University of Arizona's roster worth watching this year? Usually I'm up to date on their guys but I havent paid as much attention this year to who they have. Trying to get to a few of their games in March.
  14. That's a good point. I'm wondering if it will affect a lot of high schoolers as well. I imagine a lot of them will be leaning college ball at this point with the CBA uncertainty. Plus I expect the NIL impact on the draft to increase this year too.
  15. I think they view Mo Baller's bat as special. All the reports we have read throughout the past couple years have indicated that they are hesitant to move him in any deal. Plus, if we dont extend Seiya we can replace the DH spot for cheap in the long term with him.
  16. Id give it a B+. Idk why but when I look at the roster, it just feels one bat short. I think this is a contender for sure and I love the pitching staff. Jed did a great job this offseason and this is the first time I can recall where I loved every move he made. He finally addressed the bullpen with some velocity and got us some vets we can utilize/trust to start the year and fill in the gaps with internal arms as injuries occur and rest is required for some guys.
  17. I just dont know where they will find the time to ease Mo into catching at the MLB level. Kelly and Amaya will have those starts on lockdown for a while. I guess injury is always possible but hopefully that doesnt occur.
  18. Good year to have 4 picks in the top 100. I expect another pitching heavy draft for the Cubs.
  19. Got another to add to that as I agree with all those. Will Jaxon Wiggins take another step forward by improving his efficiency and throw more strikes to get that BB rate down?
  20. Welcome. Is being a fan of the Brewers and Cubs legal?
  21. Based on how it seems like the Cubs treat IFA prospects, Id guess no. Cabada is a maybe since his plate discipline seems to be somewhat advanced for his age, but I see June as a potential Myrtle Beach Assignment for both if everything is going well.
  22. Excited to see if Cabada can adjust quickly stateside this season. Got high hopes for him this season.
  23. im talking more a bench bat. A right handed OF would be ideal. Id like to see someone with some power there, Alcantara definetly fits the mold but hes still unknown.
  24. I like the roster as is but I kind of agree it feels one bat short. I think they will be looking to add one at the trade deadline though, not right now.
  25. Really like this signing. Great offseason Jed.
