I think this team can be playoff caliber, Hoyer needs to man the horsefeathers up and hand out some big contracts. Soto remains the crown jewel, if the Padres are serious about shedding salary the Cubs should be right there to pounce. Also fire David Ross.

Good thing Ross didn't play Canario, he could have helped the team into the playoffs.

I'm OK with that, he's had a great year but he has his flaws and will be paid big time. Soto is the guy to get but I doubt Hoyer will want to give up prospects and then sign him to 400 mil.

Hoyer needs to go balls deep this offseason. Sign Moore, Hader, Yamamoto and then trade for Soto. Even Ross can't ruin a roster that good, right?

I see lefties and some solid relievers on there. He's gotten extremely sporadic playing time, to consider him unplayable because he can't adjust to mlb pitching due to his incredibly sporadic playing time is absurd. We are talking a miniscule sample size here. Don't see why not playing a top 100 prospect over mediocre journeymen shouldn't be considered a knock on Ross. They are not getting to the post season might as we'll get the kids some appearances that aren't late inning subs.

Yeah PCA needs to keep getting more 8th/9th inning pinch hit opportunities vs the teams best relievers. He's been so unplayable because of his own doing and nothing to do with how Ross has utilized him.

Probably won't see them until Cubs are actually eliminated. By seeing them I mean they will get a 8th inning pinch hit appearance and be asked to bunt.

1 more Cubs loss and Marlins win means they clinch right? Doesn't even matter I guess, even if they were out of it Ross would be starting Tauchman, Mastroboner, Wisdom and somehow Young with all the kids on the bench.

Doubt any team would unless he proves he's healthy and pitching well, and if he is at that point the Cubs are better off holding on to him. He hasn't pitched well in months, no one would take him for over 20 mil

He's 100% opting in. No one will give him anything long term or a short term deal heftier than the one he can opt into with the Cubs with him coming off back to back injury plagued seasons and he's been awful for more than half the season now.

Demoting a guy pitching well as a starter in Assad for a guy who has been terribly sucking in Stroman was definitely an interesting decision. Almost like self sabotage
