  1. I think that's an overpay bro
  2. Weird how they say they don't want to block prospects and then are interested on players that would block prospects. If they sign Bellinger as CF and then play him at 1B when PCA is "ready" then they just paid him centerfielder money to play first. Just an all round stupid notion. I am just losing all faith in the front office, makes it truly seem like they have no plan as Sharma said.
  3. Jeds wait back and see what falls on his lap approach is pretty dumb in my opinion, worse it basically confirms the Cubs will never land a star player because he doesn't want to enter bidding wars. Can basically count out Soto next year.
  4. Are you talking about Yamamoto?
  5. Reportedly they want to clear his 7 mil salary because of their tv deal really forcing their hands
  6. Have to believe they are still in on a Bieber trade, or is Hoyer going to dumpster dive and take a shot at one of the criminals. Market is drying up
  7. Pepiot and DeLuca are pretty solid players, Cubs trade would probably be Wicks and Canario to equal that I'd say.
  8. Surely this takes the Dodgers out of the Yamamoto race... r-right?
  9. Saw Ohtani can possibly opt out if ownership changes or if Friedman leaves. Basically an anti tank/rebuild clause in his contract. Cubs probably didn't want to offer that since they are one of the few big market teams that enjoy doing a rebuild every 5 years
  10. I guess that caps off the Cubs offseason? Don't see Hoyer spending beyond Alfaro
  11. Makes a lot of sense for the Dodgers, one year rental til ohtani is ready to pitch again. Maybe Yamamoto doesn't want to play with a star like Ohtani.
  12. Wasn't he predicted on a 50 million deal?
  13. I was coping with the thought that ohtani didn't offer this deferment to any other team. Disappointing to learn this. Dodgers just went out there and got their man
  14. Can Manfred void that deal because of the wild deferment? I ask this just because I'm becoming increasingly salty
  15. It already has kinda worked out. The contract numbers itself created a frenzy in the sports and non sports world. Ohtani is the most marketable mlb player in the game right now. Everybody in Japan is a dodger fan now and someone mentioned on here that will likely create a pipeline of future npb talent wanting to play for the Dodgers. I saw that report that Sasaki wanted to be posted so that he could play with ohtani. Was that fake? Maybe yeah but that is a likely outcome of him signing with the Dodgers. The increased revenue of him being with the team will offset a lot of his cost. And this is all before he even takes the field. If he comes back hitting, they have a great DH. If he comes back pitching too then the Dodgers got a steal even at 700 mil. This case is unique to a unique player like ohtani.
  16. Jed needs to stop being a coward and pony up for a good player already. Dodgers are about to corner the entire Japanese market
  17. The two new York teams always seemed the biggest threat for Yamamoto. Unless the giants offer 300 mil
  18. Not mad at all at 700 mil, I love ohtani but can't justify that
  19. Saw that roki Sasaki asked to be posted but was likely to be denied. Interesting to follow since he's probably better than Yamamoto and younger. Might happen next year
  20. Wow that contract is crazy. I thought he'd end up there.
  21. Everyone's just trolling or just making horsefeathers up. Until Ohtani announces it I'm not believing horsefeathers
  22. What a roller coaster of emotions this has been
  23. With everything that's been said about Ohtani, with him wanting to win and being a guy devoted to his method and not liking to change it, I have doubts he'd join the Bluejays in the toughest division in baseball in a new country but im no insider.
  24. Doesn't ramirez have a ntc? I'd be ok moving any player for him but I feel like he doesn't ever want to leave Cleveland.
  25. Both are coming off down years but their overall body of work is impressive. But yeah a lot of red flags
