  1. I really hope Imanaga outperforms Yamamoto, aside from helping the team win those Dodgers fan tears would be satisfying after all the money they spent
  2. That contract is pretty weird. Wonder if it's an injury thing or that his market just cratered. With so many teams dropping interest in him the last couple days, I'm thinking it was injury concerns.
  3. Was no one gaga for Imanaga then? That's a surprisingly low aav. Kind of concerning if no other team stepped in on that
  4. Solid first move, still a ways to go for the team to even get back to the level they were last year. Replacing Stroman and Bellinger just gets them back at being a fringe playoff team. Still need bullpen and 3B and 1B
  5. Feels like the Dodgers have spent more money on total contracts this offseason than the Cubs have spent the last decade combined
  6. He's 29 this july
  7. I think anything that generates excitement leads to more revenue, like in season ticket sales and merchandise. The Dodgers crazy spending made news everywhere for instance and that probably got regular people into looking at what was going on there. I think a condensed wild spending spree like that would get people talking. People go crazy for the nba free agency and it basically ends after a day or two. But yeah it is definitely more leverage for the owners, would need a concession like a spending floor without a hard cap.
  8. Yeah MLB offseason is too damn boring. Bet Manfred will look into how to make it exciting, his changes shortening game time did wonders, gotta keep the young ones interested in the sport.
  9. About to sign with the padres according to heyman
  10. So the Cubs are spending all their money this offseason on coaches and executives. While every one of the other 29 major teams is spending on money on players. Is Jed ahead of the curve here? Are players overrated?
  11. I'd like the Cubs to try and get Pasquantino
  12. I think they only have 14 mil more space before the highest luxury tax tier. So I don't think they have a big swing left in them. They could trade for Bieber and his very reasonable salary.
  13. Imanaga to the Yankees now I suppose? What other teams would be in on Montgomery then? Hoyer might end up getting a steal by being the cheap bastard he is.
  14. Sorry didn't mean to offend
  15. Just like that the Dodgers have completely cornered the Japanese market. I think a 27 mil aav will end up being a steal for them.
  16. Yeah I'm guessing Yankees too, looking forward to seeing him pitch. He put up some insane numbers in Japan.
  17. Probably unwilling to go over 2 years
  18. I think that's an overpay bro
  19. Weird how they say they don't want to block prospects and then are interested on players that would block prospects. If they sign Bellinger as CF and then play him at 1B when PCA is "ready" then they just paid him centerfielder money to play first. Just an all round stupid notion. I am just losing all faith in the front office, makes it truly seem like they have no plan as Sharma said.
  20. Jeds wait back and see what falls on his lap approach is pretty dumb in my opinion, worse it basically confirms the Cubs will never land a star player because he doesn't want to enter bidding wars. Can basically count out Soto next year.
  21. Are you talking about Yamamoto?
  22. Reportedly they want to clear his 7 mil salary because of their tv deal really forcing their hands
  23. Have to believe they are still in on a Bieber trade, or is Hoyer going to dumpster dive and take a shot at one of the criminals. Market is drying up
  24. Pepiot and DeLuca are pretty solid players, Cubs trade would probably be Wicks and Canario to equal that I'd say.
  25. Surely this takes the Dodgers out of the Yamamoto race... r-right?
