  1. With two straight blown games and Taillons mighty struggles I think its fair to be a little weary about the situation of the game right now. Being optimistic is great but as I type this the game is blown again
  2. I wonder if that poster who was really excited about the Cubs blowing game 2 of the double header is still really excited today. Season tiebreaker now is in favor of the reds, if the offense doesn't score 10 runs today then the reds will be squarely in the race again. With the Cubs facing even more wildcard teams coming up, They might very well lose their playoff spot shortly.
  3. Yeah the offense has been anemic, don't get at least trying to get something going by playing a guy with a ton of power in a tiny ballpark.
  4. What a waste, Ross's stupidity also making things harder.
  5. Suzuki miss playing that leadoff double really messed up the whole inning. When your offense is sucking you have to be perfect in all other aspects
  6. Canario would have been a good choice there to ph
  7. Yeah Assad has been a godsend this season
  8. What is Tauchman now? 8 for his last 50? Keep getting him abs Rossy
  9. I know he just hit that clutch hr but I wouldn't extend Candelario either.
  10. Today feels like a must win with Taillon going tomorrow. Makes the sting of that blown game last night all that much worse.
  11. Hoyer needs to release Smyly before Ross puts him back in the rotation
  12. Yeah it's weird how some were deluding themselves to think he was the best option.
  13. Yeah the injured 60 day IL players don't count against the 40 man, but you can use the loophole if they have been on the IL for 60 plus days. But the prospects have to be added to the 40 man in the first place regardless. This just means the timing doesn't matter
  14. Taken from bleachernation: "But what about prospects who weren’t on the 40-man until they were called up, say, on September 5? Well, that’s still easy enough: you can also include players on the playoff roster as “injury replacements,” taking the place of ANYONE on the 60-day IL, as long as that player has been out his 60+ days. By the time late-September rolls around, literally every team in baseball history has at least a couple guys on the 60-day IL. So if you want some youngsters on the playoff roster, boom, they “replace” the injured guys. For the Cubs, there are already FIVE guys on the 60-day IL, several of whom are simply not going to return this year. So the playoff roster thing is – like every year – a non-issue. Were you in the organization as of August 31? Cool. You can be on the playoff roster, no problem." Tl;Dr : you can designate non 40 man players in the minors as injury replacements and they are thus eligible
  15. Probably has more to do with his 4 mil mutual option for next season.
  16. I agree with Hairyducked Idiot about the depth, also Ohtani wouldn't be pitching next year if he's the big addition also think Yamamoto would be pitching every 6 days so there would be need for another starter. Idk about their interest in any of the other top arms.
  17. Yeah I think picking up the Hendricks option is the best choice now. Maybe decline the club option and tack on an extra year at a lower AAV
  18. Feels like Leiter often struggles too when he's sent in mid inning. Just a feeling idk the numbers
