    Hoskins makes a lot of sense. Cubs can sell him on the Bellinger success story and Mervis kind of sucks so big hole there.

    Why would the Cubs leak that they are waiting to pursue other players because they are waiting on an Ohtani to decision first give them any leverage? People don't like him on here but Chapman is a Jed kind of player. Can be had on a shorter term high AAV contract and he plays strong defense.

    I could see the giants outbidding everybody else, they seem thirsty for a superstar. If he ends up there it's because he chose money.

    Don't the winter meetings end on Thursday? He could still sign this week even when the meetings are over. Like that one report saying the next 7 to 10 days

    I prefer to believe the reports that ohtani is close to making his decision. I can't imagine what else he could be waiting for.

    With Yamamoto meeting teams this week, I'm guessing he signs next week if Ohtani makes his decision.

    Didn't Scherzer say Cohen told him they were going take a step back in spending this offseason and that's why he waived his no trade clause? Would be a bad look if Cohen lied to him.

    I know it wasn't a trade but I think of guys like Adam's who the rays just turned into an absolute beast. Assad and Wesneski having tremendous amounts of movement and break on their pitches just seem like guys that would get to the next level with the rays. Wish the Cubs could poach whoever is leading the pitching charge over there.

    Didn't the rays want mlb ready pitching for glasnow? How does that make any sense, wouldn't teams that want to trade for him have that interest because they don't have any mlb ready pitching of their own? With all the question marks around glasnow with his health I'd rather they stay away from him. Just spend that 25 mil on Yamamoto over 9 years. But then again, hoyer is afraid of the big year deals. So I see why the Cubs have been linked to numerous trade targets with 1-2 years of control.

    Yeah 121 wrc+ for alonso to 119 wrc+ for Morel. Plus Morel is cheap and under team control for a few seasons. Alonso is trending the wrong way and still wants big money
