    With everything that's been said about Ohtani, with him wanting to win and being a guy devoted to his method and not liking to change it, I have doubts he'd join the Bluejays in the toughest division in baseball in a new country but im no insider.

    Relieved tbh, he's solid but he was crap as a Cub and I thought Hoyer would overpay for him.

    That's a lot to give up, guess they did really want pitching. If the sticking point was Horton then I'm OK losing out here but if Jed balked because of the other arms they were asking for then I'd be pissed.

    And the Astros developed those players they drafted and signed through international free agency into superstars. They haven't had the need to go big in free agency.

    King and Thorpe is already an overpay and they are reportedly going to tack on more. Morel/Brown/Wesneski somewhat similar to that offer? Maybe Wicks instead of Wesneski

    Hoskins makes a lot of sense. Cubs can sell him on the Bellinger success story and Mervis kind of sucks so big hole there.

    Why would the Cubs leak that they are waiting to pursue other players because they are waiting on an Ohtani to decision first give them any leverage? People don't like him on here but Chapman is a Jed kind of player. Can be had on a shorter term high AAV contract and he plays strong defense.
