    That's easier said than done. His options were leave Thielbar in to face righty, lefty, righty (Remember they had Bregman on the bench ready to PH), Pomeranz (See Thielbar) + he gave up 3 runs, Roberts (2 hits and a run), Braiser on back to back, Flexen starting today, and they're not going Kriske in leverage. If you go Keller in the 7th on back to back nights, Pressly is pitching the 8th. Damned if you do damned if you don't.

    Yep this is true. They also have a plethora of depth options though. Cortes will be back within a week or so, have Henderson and Chad Patrick waiting in the wings, etc. Just rich with solid arms.

    2015 wRC+ Hosmer 124 Cain 128 Moose 123 FWIW - Morales was the Royals best hitter in 2015. Zobrist was obviously a huge deadline acquisition. If they had the lead going into the 7th, the game was over Herrera - Wade Davis - Holland.

    Couple general thoughts: Cubs are really horsefeathers good Cubs do have holes and said holes will be discussed heavily until the TDL (Hopefully not much after) In no way should any Cubs fan be "scared" of the Brewers However, Brewers have won the division 3 out of the last 4 seasons and they aren't going to go away simply because of an average lineup (I wouldn't be shocked if WC hits closer to his norms the second half) How horsefeathers fun would this lineup be if we landed Bregman?

    “Here's how it works: Each batted ball is assigned an xBA based on how often similar batted balls, categorized by exit velocity, launch angle, and since 2019, Sprint Speed for certain instances, have historically resulted in hits since Statcast's league-wide implementation in 2015. For example, a batted ball with a particular exit velocity and launch angle that has historically resulted in a hit 70% of the time will have an xBA of .700. A player's seasonal xBA is calculated by totaling the xBA of each batted ball event and including actual strikeout numbers. This means Statcast's xBA evaluates a player's performance based on the quality of their contact, using historical data to estimate the probability of each batted ball becoming a hit.”

    Fun playoff caliber matchup. The matchup doesn't get any tougher than this for Boyd and Shota.

    Having a solid year in terms of results. Under the hood metrics aren't great however. If he doesn't hit 140 IP this season, the team has a $14m club option. If he hits 140 IP, it turns into a $19m mutual option.

    Yea if you go Sandy, the hope would be to get the best rental possible (Kelly, etc) to help compete this season. For me, it's the two extra years of control you get with Sandy that is the most appealing (Losing Jamo + Boyd after next season). The Cubs defense + pitching infrastructure seems like an optimal match and you're buying at the lowest point possible. I have other multi year options ahead of him on my wishlist, but I wouldn't complain if he's the multi year fish we land.

    Technically, the most likely largest trade has already happened. But yea, 1908 is spot on with this likely being the new norm.
