  1. i've seen it speculated a lot that, when it's on, it looks a lot like the fastball and has remarkably late movement.
  2. ssr and imb both have a lot of money on tn, so if you want to see them fail as much as i do, root for ucla really hard
  3. i hate frank gore, but i waited too long to make a pick and got him anyway. i think he's hugely overrated. how good a qb should i be able to get for him? i realize i'll probably have to add some stuff to the deal on both sides, but if gore is the main guy going out, and a qb is the main guy coming in, how good should that qb be?
  4. if the cubs seriously didn't call people up because they are concerned about iowa in the playoffs, they are a bunch of idiots.
  5. 120 pitches with a seven run lead so they can make a stupid appeal that will get shot down. i hope cc implodes starting the last day of the regular season.
  6. he's not missing a start, he's getting a few extra days so he can stay sharp.
  7. no wonder the a's are under .500, they're batting pitchers WHAT KIND OF MONEYBALL IS BILLY BEANE PLAYING?
  8. Uh I bet Shark goes to a few  Plus, I'm pretty sure I saw Dempster at the ND-Syracuse game during Quinn's Jr. year interesting fact: Dempster was a ND baseball commit before he signed with the Rangers. I believe Ski thinks ND stands for North Dakota. Yes, ND has and will always stand for North Dakota. You do realize that if you asked 1000 Americans what they thought of when they heard the letters 'ND', maybe 3 would say North Dakota, and that's only because they live there. i'm pretty sure you're dead wrong on that. ND is the postal abbreviation, and it's definitely the first thing i think of. a majority might say stupid notre dame, but it's hardly as lopsided as you say.
  9. i know we've done it before, but now seems like a good time to rehash that conversation about what would happen if you put old-timey ballplayers in a time machine and made them play today.
  10. maybe truffle should try that
  11. i love that sneaky power was a pretty good line.
  12. i REALLY wanted to buy cardinals insurance (throwing fifty bucks on the cardinals at the beginning of the postseason) in 06, but i never got around to it. follow through on your dreams, dave.
  13. how about somethign from grease
  14. oh, and cc's only made ten starts since leaving cleveland. there's no way that's a five game swing.
  15. even if this was true, if you can give up three months of Sabathia for an impact hitter you can cheaply own for a long time, it'd be silly not to make the move just so you can hold onto feeble hopes of a useless playoff run exactly. worrying about setting yourself up to be 6 games back of two teams that are definitely better than you is a bad way to build a team.
  16. i hope the yankees are shamed so much that they have to leave yankee stadium after the season
  17. stop it you guys this is horribly lame
  18. That doesn't necessarily mean anything more than luck, however. Hate to break it to you, but not every basehit is a result of luck. no, but when you've got 153k in 170.2ip, a .213baa absolutely is.
  19. "modern statistics" are slanted towards sluggers because the game of baseball is slanted towards sluggers. a good slugger is worth more than a good slapper.
  20. I'd guess it was similar to the Greek baseball team in '04, grandparent born Germany. They talked about this during the opening ceremonies, countries are basicly paying athletes to play for them. There really are no rules against this, even if you competed for another country in the past. yeah, i was talking to my mom about this last night when they should the guy running for the us in the 1500m who ran for kenya in the last two olympics. he sucked, so it didn't really matter, but i can't believe this isn't seen as a bigger deal.
  21. I smell a misquote apparently one of soto's teammates is a real jerk. i'll bet it was bob howry, whatta cunp
  22. DERREK LEE 260/543 (48%) of his plate appearances go to 2 strikes in those plate appearances, he is hitting 212/300/290 ADAM DUNN 250/479 (52%) of his plate appearances go to 2 strikes in those plate appearances, he is hitting 136/276/306 they look pretty similar to me, except that lee is much more likely to single with two strikes, and dunn is more likely to walk. that's pretty much the case all the time, though.
  23. you just have to hope that jim edmonds can come up with the right tip or wisecrack at the right time to push us over the top.
  24. bella karolyi apparently thinks you can get a gold medal for being the biggest phony.
