  1. i think people are being mean to meph. florida is the best team.
  2. not if he's looking for a tail like that.
  3. Hi, You make a good point about Lovie. I also believe that coaches that are screamers have a much shorter life span before they get tuned out than coaches that are more laid back. Seems that Tom Landry stayed at Dallas for a good long time. Where I think Lovie is challenged is Angelo. They have so darn much money tied up on the defensive side of the ball, with a group of players that are getting older that he is going to be limited in what he can do. Urlacher is now just a good MLB as opposed to an impact player. Briggs is in his prime and they are working in guys like Graham and the other linebacker who's name excapes me for the moment. If you have reasonable turnover each season Lovie should be good. I agree with you about ethics etc. he seems to have set a standard and they all must adhere to it. I do not see any of the current Bears getting Michael Jordan type treatment, that's for sure. STOP DOING THAT love, johnny
  4. I'm not as excited about Burnett as everyone else seems to be, especially for the crazy money teams are lined up to pay him. Assuming Dempster's year wasn't a total fluke, Dempster will be $3-$4 million cheaper per year for 1-2 less years. You really think Burnett is going to go for insane money? I certainly see Sheets and Sabathia going for insane dollar amounts, but i'm not sure how I feel about Burnett. He had his worst year since 03 last year so possibly his price tag will be a little less? Or maybe that's just wishful thinking.         career high 18 w's mon frere, the guy finally figured out how to win
  5. I have a Patterson jersey if you want it. i'll take it
  6. OH MY GOD I LOVE THAT
  7. imb keep saying bad stuff about ssr this is great
  8. i wish bands would do that, acknowledge that they only have one song and just tack it on to their name. "and now, ladies and gentlemen, CRASH TEST DUMMIES MMMM MMMM MMMM MMMM"
  9. jesus that sounds awful. see, that's why i always make it a point to get lousy grades. having to hang out with wealthy people all the time would be the worst.
  10. Without having visited them all I can probably guess that West Lafayette is the worst (i've lived in State College and Columbus, went to school in Evanston, and visited Madison, Bloomington and Iowa City) Depends on how you judge Evanston. I've never been to Minnesota or know anyone who has. Other than those 2 possibilities, yeah it's gotta be West Lafayette. my view of Evanston was that the University area was populated by super rich people who hated that the University was there. They passed every law they could to prevent the students from having anything fun to do. when were you in Evanston? It's a lot different than it was in the early 90s. Lots more bars/restaurants, and the downtown area is now a destination spot for those not in the mood to go into the city. Fact is, a lot of Evanstonians DO hate NW. The tax-free pass they get, based on a charter from the stone age, makes the locals have to pay obscene taxes. And the self-entitled, rich students are often not the most pleasant folks. Kellogg business students are notorious a-holes. For the record, I grew up in Evanston, and both my parents went to NW. i know a guy who went to northwestern for undergrad and loved it except for about 90% of the people who went there. the story he always told to give a sense of what a lot of people were like was watching his rich friends get out of a cab (that had brought them from the airport) and just run away from the car and skip the fare. then they defended it by saying the guy was an illegal immigrant and their taxes were paying him too much already.
  11. That's why I said if the Cubs are stuck with Fukudome they may have to do it. However, a Fukudome/Johnson platoon isn't cheap. A Pie/Johnson platoon would be cheap though. I also know that the Cubs got pretty good production out of Edmonds/Johnson last year and know full well that I may be way off base here. If I had more time and interest I'd look at other platoons and see what kind of production/cost ratio they generate. what are you going to do with fukudome that doesn't involve paying his contract?
  12. what's so bad about platoons? you can't do it all over the field, obviously, but i really think it's often a very cost-effective way to get solid production. it's certainly cheaper than telling fukudome to go to hell and signing a cf who can hit everyone, and it's likely to be much more productive than running fukudome out there for 150. johnson hit .333/.399/.449 vs lhp last year, and .313/.376/.460 vs lhp for his career. that's a great half of a platoon if he can play any defense at all.
  13. macha was pretty awful in oakland. maybe he's smarter now, but i like the pick.
  14. it was really nice of pujols and chipper jones and chase utley and hanley ramirez and lance berkman and ryan ludwick and adam dunn and matt holliday and probably several other guys to turn down the award.
  15. I really hope you mean without. I did mean that. or did I? Just make sure the towelboy is on standby to wipe down the floor. Don't want anyone slipping in the lane. if he could just slip into the lane once in a while, he wouldn't be publicly masturbating
  16. HOW IS THIS NOT GETTING MORE NOTICE
  17. "I don't have any insider knowledge on the issue, but I do know that Bob's passion is as a manager and that he would love to get back into the game. The Brewers are an exciting up-and-coming team, and I'm sure Bob would jump at the chance to lead them. That said, Bob is a true friend of mine. I'd be lying if I didn't say I'd miss him come March if he we're to depart. He's a joy to work with and listen to day in and day out. He's certainly got the credentials to manage again, and I wish him the best no matter how this situation shakes out. Go Cubs!" that's exactly what len would say if he were here. pretend he said that.
  18. after 100 years, yeah, its WS or bust for me. However, I would have settled for going down valiantly in the playoffs not yay, we won another division flag, vacation time. wow, you're 108 years old or whatever? that's crazy. i mean, i'm only 23, and didn't really follow the team until i was like 10, so i've got 13 years to claim. i mean, it wouldn't make sense for me to whine about the team's performance in the years before i existed, so i assume you're not doing it either.
  19. FLAGS FLY FOREVER
  20. brenly's a crap manager. i'd be more than happy to switch him out for someone else in the booth in exchange for milwaukee continuing to have a crap manager. that was my thought too i'll always love him though IDEA: what about fake brenly for the booth? my first thought is that he would accept since it would result in more hos my second thought is that even he would acknowledge that he simply does not have time for more hos in conclusion, i hope it happens, because then when the cubs win 10 in a row, len will have to grow a moustache AND a little beard AND wear funny glasses
  21. brenly's a crap manager. i'd be more than happy to switch him out for someone else in the booth in exchange for milwaukee continuing to have a crap manager.
  22. The Astros made it in '05. I think that just furthers his point. That being said, I quit life if the Nationals make the Series before the Cubs. four or five years ago the rays would have been the team you cited when making that claim.
  23. Yowzers. Drunky McDrunkenstein i don't think you know how decimals work
  24. sort of off of your point here but edward norton got to bang salma hayek AND kick the crap out of jared leto real american hero imo Swing and a miss. are you saying they never had sex when they were married because that would take a lot of restraint they dated, but they were never married were they? who knows all i know is i would've hit that like ray lewis THE POINT IS HE HAD SEX WITH HER AND RYAN IS WRONG AGAIN She's saving herself for marriage jerk. i knew she was pure as snow snow that's been urinated on regularly
