  1. not to be racist, but ben roethlisberger is a complete [expletive]
  2. im really glad to see a cardinals fan has a lot to say on steve bartman. [expletive] will leitch and [expletive] steve bartman.
  3. maybe we could get al albuquerque back setting our sights on anything better is silly.
  4. How do you pick a team a year and a half ago and not take the Blackhawks? Or were the most popular team in the law school class at the time? you'll hate me, i'm not telling you
  5. not to go all cubbiebum on your faces, but i've rooted for the capitals the last year and a half. lots of fun 08 cubs parallels here. i think i should probably attempt to re-enter the free agent pool and pick a team again.
  6. for me it's the content i hate this font
  7. I could care less that it involved my team. Like I said I didn't understand the point in signing him. However if getting an opportunity to play is so important to him (who isn't it important to) then maybe he shouldn't have agreed to sign so quick. It just shows he still is pretty immature. He should have seen that the 49ers have Gore, a 3rd rd pick for the year before and a current draftee who are all large, power backs and thus he had little to no shot of actually playing. He should have thought it through and he didn't. It gets back to his negative label. you're right he definitely would've been better off getting cut in august over signing this NEGATIVE deal that will allow him a chance to play in games in 2010 what a fool i mean does this dude know he could've been frank gore's 5th sting backup? mineaswell invite all of mferwindermere to the superbowl once you sign that K
  8. i've long said that tyler colvin should be 1.100 ops guy in the major leagues, so, yes, he is meeting my expectations
  9. And the Cubs would most assuredly turn that down, which is the entire point. maybe he thinks midlevel means like the middle of the baseball america top 100 prospects
  10. i heard he hasn't thrown 200 innings in like seven years
  11. okay guys let's think well at least the cubs didn't shoot zambrano with a gun in the face in the middle of the game im not saying i like this move i'm just saying it could be worse
  12. from btf: Once upon a diamond dreary, Theriot slapping, weak and weary, While Soriano shied away from many an ivy-covered wall, Piniella nodded, nearly napping, for it was the Cubs turn batting, Or perhaps I should say hacking, hacking at pitches on the floor. "Carlos should relieve" he muttered, "surely that will help us score! Pitch the eighth, and nothing more." Quoth Jim Hendry, "What is WAR?"
  13. how long can zambrano pitch in the bullpen before he'd have to go down to the minor leagues to stretch back out before returning to the rotation? or will we just tell him to deal with the fact that he's completely changed his workload?
  14. im very afraid that what happens after that occurs is going to be even worse than this. how are they going to sell "he sucked in the bullpen, time to go back to the rotation" after this whole thing is (in the minds of many) predicated on zambrano's lack of success in the rotation?
  15. You were close enough :) Just think how sick the bullpen would be if we moved Lilly and Dempster there with him. can you delete this post, i just made the same remark in the legit z to the bullpen thread, i don't want people to think you thought of this first
  16. i bet we could make the bullpen even better if we move randy wells and ryan dempster there too. and as soon as we see that lilly is back and pitching well, he can start relieving as well.
  17. [expletive] [expletive] [expletive] [expletive] [expletive] [expletive] [expletive] this team.
  18. i think lou must get a bonus if any of his players set major league records, so he's decided that the easiest way to do this is to see what happens if sean marshall gets 115 appearances
  19. Those people are idiots, but in fairness to them, if we had Sam Fuld in LF right now and an extra $17.5 million (difference between Soriano and Fuld) to spend on something else I'd have to think the Cubs would be a better team. yeah, but that just means we'd be better off if we somehow got out of soriano's contract, as the first thing we'd do with that money is get a real left fielder.
  20. Some people get bored with sex at home and like the adrenaline from the risk of getting caught in public. Do you speak from experience? No I speak from having a [expletive] roommate who would go out on our shared deck with our neighbors and do it with his girlfriend because they were both sex addicts. there's really no reason to talk about andy that way
  21. i was hoping this thread would reveal that a-rod is dating that little rat girl from jersey shore
  22. has anyone pointed out how much jon scheyer looks like ssr? cause he looks a lot like ssr
  23. jeff samardzija should be thanking his lucky stars that he's from notre dame and not the dominican republic, as he'd be getting his ass run out of town and quick.
  24. It's just another way to group pitchers in terms of level of talent. I don't see the issue. let's keep it simple. ace means one, so your ace is you number one starter. there are thirty teams, and in the theoretical universe of "this guy's an ace, this guy's a three" or whatever, each team will get one of each pitcher, so we need thirty aces. let's even keep it so simple that we just use era to decide who the aces are. whoever was in the top thirty of era among starting pitchers in the major leagues is an ace. carlos zambrano's era of 3.77 was good for number 30 in the majors.
