    i would definitely do this, but you do have to acknowledge that if you can trade blake dewitt for a guy straight up, there's a reason. stewart is definitely an upside play at a position of extreme need for the cubs, but he will most likely be lousy. so long as we can all couch our expectations, let's do it. maybe it will work, and dewitt is about as fungible an asset as you could imagine.

    i really don't think we're going to punt 2012/13, but i don't know that this is proof of that. even if we were going to throw the seasons away, it's not like we'd say "gonna be bad either way, let's make the budget 105 million dollars and see if tyler colvin really can get on base less than 20% of the time over the course of a full season."

    he's jackson's FLOOR? I wish. You're saying that Jackson's worst case scenario is a solid major league career hovering around an .800 OPS with solid defense? I wish. haha, jackson's floor is that he strikes out 90 times in 200pa and we don't hear from him again until 2013, when he does the same thing again. i like to think dejesus can beat that.

    He had a higher WAR than any Cub OF last season. He may suck, but he's still an improvement over last season. his war is only that high if you accept that his defense is worth a win and a half. hopefully it is.

    this guy kind of sucked last year. his k/rate was way up from previous seasons, and he hit more fly balls than ever before, especially infield pop-ups. maybe those were all foul balls because he was playing in the stupid oakland coliseum. uzr likes his defense a lot, but uzr also likes vaseline on toast, so i'm not going to get too excited about that.

    No, but he's blocking a better player at a lower price. If you can get any type of salary relief from Soriano's contract, you dump him. With the new CBA, we need all the money we can get to spend on the major league roster. soriano is blocking someone?
