  1. Me too. I have sigs off, so avatars are the quickest way to know when scrolling. I always have to double check if it's Treymon or Tryptamine posting because neither have avatars FIXED
  2. I DEMAND A TRICK PLAY CENTERED AROUND THIS
  3. welcome to gam thread i am treymon did you hear the one about jaxon starts everyday boy are his arms tired stupid cubs were briefly smart cubs but now stupid cubs again today's gif theme is black and white movies post enough gifs from old movies and stupid cubs might win! (just kidding they will lose)
  4. FUN STORY in early 2012, tim asked me and a couple other people if we'd be interested in writing entertaining articles for the front page. i said yes and sent tim an example of what i'd do. HE NEVER REPLIED (probably because he was too blown away by how awesome it was). now, for the first time ever, i will open the treymon vault and reveal what might have been. (spoiler it is a bunch of cheap shots at bosio and only mildly funny) https://docs.google.com/document/d/1iXcGSfy7RfR9xJ_IIYwh2gHinEZYBcyMsj8-KwMBn1s/pub
  5. i say we do the favorite poster tournament again but only the lurkers are allowed to vote
  6. No one is going to be doing lines of coke or having sex in the bleachers if that's what your worried about. There's an occasional fight but highly unlikely on a weekday afternoon. Mostly just some language and possibly NSF kids heckling at the opposing OFers. Maybe a boob "easy, cari, there's kids around. only take out one."

  8. nes all the way by the way if you had a sega don't even act like you didn't just play ecco the dolphin all the time we all know you did
  9. Castro's high point was slashing .290/.337/.470 back on July 5. Since then: .185/.270/.200. The 11% walk rate is really weird. BABIP is only .226, so it might just be bad luck, but I don't watch enough games to know what he's actually looked like. the .015 isolated power is pretty impressive. off the top of my head, all that looks like a line for a guy who is being thrown very little that he can hit and taking more walks than we might expect him to but still swinging at (and making weak contact with) a whole bunch of garbage.
  10. tuned in late, but holy god are the cubs going to sell a lot of these 70s throwback rizzo jerseys
  11. I'll be surprised if they don't attempt to use the all homegrown for a bit. At the first sign of a weak link or two though, I think they'll be dealt off before losing a ton of value. that seems like a good way to be sure we don't come close to maximizing value. i'd much prefer that we have smart scouts who use the exclusive knowledge we have about these guys to pick out the likeliest busts and move them before they get exposed.
  12. man this would really suck if the hall of fame was an organization worth caring about
  13. Largest I could find is Maybe email the dude and see if you can get a high res version? http://www.dylanheuer.blogspot.com/p/resume.html has anyone emailed him? if not, i want to do it. if so, i don't want to make it seem like there's a bunch of us creeps.
  14. if the cubs win a world series I will probably die from alcohol poisoning SUICIDE PACT? deal yessssssss
  15. if the cubs win a world series I will probably die from alcohol poisoning SUICIDE PACT?
  16. if the cubs win a world series, i won't have a bad thing to say about them for several years at least (unless ownership sells the team or fires everyone responsible and i have new people to blame). i swear it. if the cubs win 100 games multiple times but no world series . . . i'll probably be the biggest meatball who ever meatballed and blame everything on playoff choking and come to really, really hate baseball.
  17. Pretty sure it's something Bonifacio brought in. Don't know what it really means though. Here it is: http://joefrisaro.mlblogs.com/2012/05/10/lo-viste-creates-waves-in-houston/ i really like it, if only for how much starlin seems to hate it. anytime he slides in for a double, it's always *get up, dust yourself off, straighten your socks, REALQUICKBONIFACIOSIGNAL, pull on the buttons to straighten my jersey, clap your hands, look in the dugout to make sure you're not getting yelled at for not doing the thing, adjust your helmet, ready to run the bases*
  18. I would argue that people that DO follow the minors closely are the ones more likely to understand the percentage of flameouts (take a look at law's lol top 20 from a couple yrs ago posted elsewhere). the people that are like "the infield is going to combine for 120 homers next year" are the ones that don't seem to follow prospects that closely. Because there's anyone here that does that? Get real. david said 100 hr a season from an infield that didn't include bryant. not necessarily next year, but still.
  19. i read the minors thread every day, but even if i didn't, there's no reason you have to read every night's box scores to know the state of the farm system. unless you guys think you are capable of stat line scouting.
  20. you know how sometimes we read other boards (that mets board, the orioles hangout thing, gateway redbirds) and there's always posters we make fun of for thinking all their guys are amazing and all our guys suck? and then we all pat ourselves on the back for not being as deluded as that fanbase? david is the poster here.
  21. the director is as tired of this old lady as we are. "screw her, just go to commercial now"
  22. i could be misremembering, but i thought the implication was that benny was old and washed up now, relegated to only pinch-running and probably backup of duties. the play where he steals home is him harkening back to his glory days, both in his mlb career and at the sandlot.
