Drives me crazy that he is still on the team....you can't tell me there isnt a more useful scrap heap player somewhere. Where is Mastrobouni

I wonder if the Yankees also believe Suarez will regress more to his norm the rest of the season. That is a concern of mine, not that he isnt worth getting, but his season so far has him way over valued.

Wait...there was a poster named Duke Silver? Could he play the sax?

Before Covid, U of I was talking about building a multi purpose ice arena in Champaign. With that they were going to start a D1 hockey program. Obviously I think all that fell through. But what I find interesting is the state of Illinois produces the 4th or 5thmost NHLers of any state but does not have a D1 college program. Really think if they could get an arena to play in, D1 hockey would do well there. Being in the B1G would really help

I would love getting Castro. I would not trade Long for him though. If that's the asking price for Castro, I really dont want Suarez.

I wish the NHL would just have a tie after 5 min OT. Im not sure how I feel about a tie in MLB, but I sure wouldn't want a HR derby decide. At least the Ghost Runner is still mostly an actual baseball thing, though I am not a fan of that either.

MLB Net has a lot of decent ex players who give solid analysis.....To bad Dero and Reynolds have somehow got to be the top guys.
  8. I owned a Suzuki
I would have really hated him on the Cardinals...glad he is a National

That's Willits house? Thought he was at his church

The Cubs sure have had a lot of "interesting" moments in my life. Elia's rant, Farnsworth charging the hitter, Ron Santos radio call on Brant Browns dropped fly ball, Bartman( no I'm not that guy, but it sure was interesting), Sandberg Game, Woods game. All of these are so memorable if you were around when they happened

If the Cubs were sellers this season, Swanson could easily be traded. The return may not be much because of the contract. But there would be a taker or two.

I think the issue with resigning Tucker has more to do with how the team would be built around him. Basically how would Suzuki, Swanson Taillion, Happ, Boyd and Hoerner be replaced or paid going forward? If the Cubs keep producing or trading for cheap productive players, paying for Tucker should be easy. But it creates more of a gamble to trade future prospects this year to obtain starting pitching.

As a Red Wings fan I think the Hawks are a lot closer to being really good than the Wings. The Wings will be 10 yrs no playoffs after next season. With a GM who will be hard to fire. Thank God the Cubs never hired Sandberg as manager

Im down with getting Keller, if the Cubs are still going after another SP who is better
  15. I owned a Suzuki
Now that I have looked at some early 70s Monday pics, sideburns seemed to be his normal look.

1\ Looking at the rosters from those years didn't help me at all. But I thought McGlothen also until I looked at the rosters
  17. I owned a Suzuki
Ray Burris? He just doesnt look like any early 70s Cub to me. I think your right about Monday, a very young Monday
  18. I owned a Suzuki
Exactly. I think it is very similar to why teams didn't want Kaepernick or Tebow around. Too much noise for a back up QB
  19. I owned a Suzuki
I bet it is extremely rare thing for any team.
  20. I owned a Suzuki
Do Cub catchers already have higher WAR this year than last year?
  21. I owned a Suzuki
I don't know why I thought they would each have a home game. I hope Ricketts is getting PAID for this
  22. I owned a Suzuki
NHL was quite a bit different in the 80s. Gretzky played on an all time great team, not a good comparison.

Not that I'm against the 12 team playoff, but I do feel that it does weaken the importance of regular season games some. Which is one of the reasons I enjoy CFB so much.

Honest question. Where did the All in come from? I was always under the impression since the Ricketts hire Theo that the Cubs build for the long term, not just anyone season. I am not saying that they have done a good job with that, but that has always been the goal has it not?

I thought horsefeathers was the only acceptable substitute for unruly language:)
