  1. Before the season I had them at 77-78 wins. Maybe I bump that a game now but not enough to really matter. So pretty much the same as before.
  2. Catching up on last night's game and the A's are somehow worse than I thought they were.
  3. I simply don't get the third catcher thing. I didn't understand it 15 years ago when the Twins did it constantly and I sure as hell don't get it today when benches are shorter because bullpens are longer.
  4. I thought "Maybe StatCast has the answers! Off to Baseball Savant I go!" Narrator: "StatCast did not, in fact, have the answers, and Brock left more confused than he entered."
  5. Eight home runs with a 1.139 OPS.
  6. Playing the A's is fun! (provided you don't actually have to sit in their stadium) The pitching and hitting advantage couldn't be more in favor of the Cubs tonight, which reduces their chance of winning to 40%, tops.
  7. I choose Mancini every time. And he’s a platoon for Mervis.
  8. Yeah, almost no one has Buxton’s speed and defense. It’s a shame people don’t get to see a healthy version of him more often.
  9. Yeah, I thought about that but ultimately, a spade needs to be called a spade. And the A’s are HORRIBLE.
  10. Hey now, the tracker is barely finished and launched and it's already listed on the third page of googling "cubs top prospects". Lots of work to do there but the tracker is one of the ways we bring in new users.
  11. You suckas do. We hold a vote every 6-ish weeks.
  12. If the Cubs are close to .500 after that stretch, they should be all in. Yikes. That's brutal.
  13. It's a somewhat arbitrary number, really. Should it be 48 games? 60 games? *shrugs* And I think some teams are just going to play more/less of those "bucket" games in any given season. Did the 2022 Dodgers *really* automatically lose 54 games? I mean, obviously not... they didn't even lose 54 games. Bad teams won't automatically win 54. Great teams won't automatically lose 54. And to your point, I suspect those 78-84 win teams largely thrive or decline based playing more of those bucket games and winning/losing them...
  14. Yet another late-night game. The Cubs should expect to play in front of a raucous crowd of three to four hundred people in the dumpster fire of a stadium called the Colisseum, o.Co, Network Something or Other, Overstock.com, or whatever shameless corporate entity has the intestinal fortitude to affix their name to the current Oakland A's franchise.
  15. Boo. Well, it was fun while it lasted.
  16. That's fair, I suppose. They're missing that elite arm that gets the team out of 30-40 late and close innings a season.
  17. Definitely, but this felt like a given going into the season. Michael Fulmer is a good seventh inning option, a meh eighth inning option, and a rather bad "bullpen ace". There isn't nearly enough depth in the Cubs pen right now, IMO.
  18. So close to a sweep. An impressive feat any time you head into Dodger Stadium.
  19. Bad luck for Mancini there. His glove fell off. Litrally.
  20. Yeah, wasn't really commenting they were doing anything wrong, the options aren't great across the board. Could have really used an insurance run there.
  21. That's a tall order for Boxberger (but I agree that it'd be insane to use Fulmer again). He has little to no leeway coming, Betts is due to be the third batter of the inning with Freeman following.
