  1. this success we're having in insustainable with more home runs.
  2. and how many times did he hit to the right side of the infield to advance the runner? Answer - a lot Thats not cool or glamorous though. Ryno never cared about his personal stats, being cool or on camera - he just wanted to win. what people who make these kinds of statements fail to grasp is that personal stats help teams win.
  3. yeah, the lousiana lightning is out of the bottle.
  4. and how many times did he hit to the right side of the infield to advance the runner? Answer - a lot or so memory serves, right?
  5. iguchi makes his first out ever against the cubs.
  6. I'll take the over. wasn't it like 1 last night? i'll give 1 1/2, then.
  7. question time. how many outs are iguchi and burrell going to combine for tonight? the over/under is 1.
  8. the only real notable areas in which they may have gotten worse was in rb depth and o-line age.
  9. i just don't understand what the inability of other teams to make the postseason after a super bowl birth has to do with the bears. and to think that scott, johnson, and boone are collectively better than walker, dvoracek, and adams reaks of an anti-bear bias--or maybe he's just trying to make waves. also, the bears haven't lost briggs. bear-haters like to pretend that briggs won't be playing for them this year--but they can't, so they make up weird reasons why he won't be effective.
  10. i love this thread, que bonita or something to that effect.
  11. i guess it depends on who buys the team and if z is even still here. he'd be a great option if z goes elsewhere. but in order to get him, we'd have to make the twins majority owners of the cubs.
  12. Give me a break. A 38 year old adult kills himself doing coke (I'll rescind this if the toxiology shows anything different but I'm pretty confident given the circumstances and his wife's statements that it won't) and it doesn't change your opinion of him? A guy so self-centered and immature that he puts his need to get high and the related risks above his wife and young daughters? Yeah Shooter did some good things for AIDs but the stupid decisions he made which resulted in his wife becoming a window and two young girls being without a father make him less of a "good guy" in my book and definitely changed my opinion of him. woah. good luck with all of that..
  13. Five or six plays a game on offense? Um...I'm thinking like 5 or 6 plays all YEAR if that? Is my memory failing me here? they don't qualify the last part of that sentence with "on offense", though. At best then, it's a very poorly worded sentence. true, very confusing.

  15. walker and harris side by side for the next couple of years? awesome.
  16. there's nothing hendry can do. he obviously cannot add any payroll, he can't even get the z deal done. this whole sale business sucks and it's happening at the absolute worst time. if we end up not re-upping z, plus not making the playoffs after not being able to add payroll, upsetting is going to be a kind word to describe it. if that in fact happens, we better have a huge bat in right and another above average starter to replace him. unlikely. there's no reason we wouldn't be able to afford z, anyway, if we start pie, soto, theriot, hill, and marshall--that's 5 cheap major contributors that shopld even allow the new ownership to get someone out in right who can play a little bit. I fear the timing on Z is what will kill us. The sale won't be finalized until what, November? I think Z could be long gone by then right? I fully expect the Yanks to roll a semi truck full of $50 bills up to his house immediately after the season ends. the sale should be done by october, as zell closes on nov. 1st, by then, iirc, the cubs must be sold. hopefully, with all of the potential suitors, there is no feet-dragging. there should be NO excuse for not selling the cubs by nov.

  18. maybe lou will decide to bat some lefties in the lineup against him. the hamels game was very dusty-like.
  19. just because he did some coke, which may or may not have contributed to his death, doesn't mean he was any more or less of a good guy. doesn't change my opinion of him at all.
  20. I agree. Chris Leak is in camp right? Has anyone heard anything about how he looks? chris leak joins craig krenzel in the "how did he win a national championship? his team must have had an unstoppable defense" category. for a guy that came out of the womb trhrowing a football, he's just not good at it. I think I said it earlier, but I just didn't realize how short Leak is. He looks a tad shorter than Grossman. They really aren't giving him many reps in practice, but I was suprised how long his throwing motion is in the drills I watched him. Anyway, with Orton stepping up his game Leak will probably be released fairly soon, unless something radically changes. As for Griese's performance, he did the same thing last year. But last year, Orton was looking real bad to me and this year it's a bit different, so I don't know what's going to happen there. i don't think superior arm strength and pass accuracy have been questioned, just his decision-making and pocket awareness. i'm interested in seeing him improve greatly in these 2 areas. there's no doubt that he has a much better arm and quicker release than either of his backups, that's not really news to me. rex just needs to improve his approach with the ball down in his hands, he's truly a man among boys in the actual passing category.

  22. most of the better o-lines are very old, as well. we have some depth there, the only real concern that i have is fred miller.
  23. i love this team. i love this team. i love this team.
