  1. no way i trade marshall, no way. we're going to need him down the stretch. i might trade gallagher, but if z doesn't re-sign, they're down another promising starting arm.
  2. It sounded like they had a basic agreement once the deadline passed, so I'm not that surprised. It's certainly nice to have it done two days before camp begins, though. I was fully expecting him to symbolically sit out at least part of training camp, if not all the preseason. But I was certain he'd be around for all 16 games. I wonder how the "Bears are having a disastrous offseason" crowd will respond. Won't we be returning 20 starters from last year now (minus Tank & TJ)? Yeah, real disastrous LOL. Technically, didn't Ian Scott start at DT over Tank? Yep, the Bears will have 3 different starters from last year. Scott gets replaced by Adams, who is probably a better player. Jones gets replaced by Benson, who is probably a better player. Danieal Manning's still on the team, but gets replaced by Archuleta, who is....wait for it....probably a better player. Horrible offseason indeed. i don't understand why people think the bears won't be very good next season, either. it's probably a better team, and i can't think of a downgrade at all except for loss of depth at running back. losing tank hurts, but neither he nor scott were anything very special or irreplaceable. the season will still hinge on rex developing some sort of pocket presence and patience, but i'm fairly excited about our prospects.
  3. i think the crank call is hilarious. i think i would say something like "you have been rendered obsolete. pack your bags and leave quietly before we call security. you will be joined by your wife and children in permanent exile."
  4. absolutely, i wish him well and hope he has a long mlb career.
  5. Yes to Carl Crawford. .341 OBP this year, a better fielder than what we have out there in RF, and only $4M. wait, if he's so cheap and awesome, why would tampa trade him? like i said, he's not that good. if we're going to sell the farm, dunn is a much better option and provides much needed power. a catcher at iowa has a homer and two walks tonight too yeah yeah, but there's nothing anyone can do about it except wait and hope he starts next year with the big club. i have no idea why this organization hates him so much.

  7. we need another bat plz, jim. we can't keep squeeking wins out like this. and no to carl crawford, he'd cost too much and he's simply not that good.
  8. yuk. oh well. we ned to start hitting. i had a bad feeling after the first game of this series, we rarely beat the dbacks, no matter how good or bad they are.
  9. i really really feel we ned another bat in the outfield, and we'll need to give up something to get it. these homerless wonders won't get it done.
  10. like i said, the cubs need to start hitting home runs, this lucky hitting w risp is looking like it won't continue.
  11. i remember watching that game. i lived in seattle at the time. it cut the euphoria for a split second, but it was a pretty cool time to be in that part of the country. m's fever was hard not to catch.
  12. eventually, the cubs are going to stop hitting so well w risp and start having to hit some home runs here and there.
  13. derosa shouldn't be getting a day off with lee out. that's almost as ridiculous as giving ramirez the day off after lee started his suspension.
  14. brewers miss webb, but we get him? that's not cool.
  15. greg hibbard initially came to my mind. don't know why we didn't sign him longer.
  16. i'm insanely amused. and, for the record, vance is the top poster around here.
  17. Yes, I agree. jacque from last year would look mighty good as we near september.
  18. if fontenot can get as hot as he was, this team will look tough to beat. the problem being that milwaukee looks pretty tough to beat as well. Who cares? We can't do anything about them. We'll win the WC if we play like we have been. that's what i generally say as well, but it would be helpful if they started losing.
  19. if fontenot can get as hot as he was, this team will look tough to beat. the problem being that milwaukee looks pretty tough to beat as well. I want to see them go back on the road where they're like 7 games below .500. it seems like they never play on the road.
