It sounded like they had a basic agreement once the deadline passed, so I'm not that surprised. It's certainly nice to have it done two days before camp begins, though. I was fully expecting him to symbolically sit out at least part of training camp, if not all the preseason. But I was certain he'd be around for all 16 games. Jones gets replaced by Benson, who is probably a better player. Danieal Manning's still on the team, but gets replaced by Archuleta, who is....wait for it....probably a better player. Horrible offseason indeed. i don't understand why people think the bears won't be very good next season, either. it's probably a better team, and i can't think of a downgrade at all except for loss of depth at running back. losing tank hurts, but neither he nor scott were anything very special or irreplaceable. the season will still hinge on rex developing some sort of pocket presence and patience, but i'm fairly excited about our prospects.

Yes to Carl Crawford. .341 OBP this year, a better fielder than what we have out there in RF, and only $4M. wait, if he's so cheap and awesome, why would tampa trade him? like i said, he's not that good. if we're going to sell the farm, dunn is a much better option and provides much needed power. a catcher at iowa has a homer and two walks tonight too yeah yeah, but there's nothing anyone can do about it except wait and hope he starts next year with the big club. i have no idea why this organization hates him so much.

i remember watching that game. i lived in seattle at the time. it cut the euphoria for a split second, but it was a pretty cool time to be in that part of the country. m's fever was hard not to catch.
