  1. Exactly. No one will be defending Marquis when he's paid $9 mil. to pitch mop-up out of the bullpen in '09. We won't take him out of the rotation. Hell we won't bench Jones for 5 million. jones is more valuable than marquis at this point.
  2. You're right, two up, two down. He's ready to break. relax, smartass.
  3. as i've said, glavine is getting extremely lucky tonight, he's about to break. i take that back.
  4. marquis is not good by any stretch of the imagination, especially at his contract. the next couple of years, plus the last part of this one, he'll be a big fat albatross that no one will take unless we pay his entire salary. hopefully canning gets enough money together to make some moves.
  5. it sucks to give up a landmark win to glavine.
  6. strained quad. with something like that, could be the rest of the season for him.
  7. It's not nonsense. He's the 5th best starter on this team. It's silly to compare him to other team's aces and such. It makes sense to see how he performs compared to other team's 5th starters. And he performs very well. Better than every other team's 5th starter. He's doing his job. his job is to pitch well, and he's not doing it. you're not making any sense. i thought marquis looked reasonably good tonight. he got unlucky with a few and glavine has gotten incredibly lucky with more than a few.
  8. so, what now? is it too late for everything? good thing hendry was satisified with this team, even though they haven't hit a home run in years. that risp will come down, and when it does, so will the rest of the season.
  9. wait...what? and no no no to him sharing time with soto next season. soto needs to be our #1.
  10. lou is looking more and more like dusty every day. um, lou, didn't you learn anything from the hamels experience? lefties are hitting .320 against glavine this season, don't tell me that lou hasn't noticed this, he's just way too stubborn to admit that conventional wisdom is wrong, here. Not even close. i think there's a difference, but "old school managers" fall into the same pitfalls--like batting right handers against changeup-throwing lefties.

  12. if he can keep up that .421 obp he's had over his last 5 games, i say move him up in the order.
  13. lou bugs the hell out of me. what was he waiting for, a more relaxed situation? why not just keep him at iowa for the rest of the year, lou? that's where you like to keep pie and murton, right? the thing about this game is that the radio guys were going on and on about how lilly saved the bullpen. he DIDN'T save the bullpen, rather, he tried to save the bullpen, but lou just put in the 2 guys that he normally does instead of resting them a bit and pitching wood or someone who could have actually used the work.
  14. i've often wondered the same thing, it's the only pitch he can hit. when he played for the cubs, i prayed that pitchers would be stupid enough to throw the only pitch he could hit to him.
  15. delgado makes his first out of the series.
  16. hendry is going realize very soon that this team needed another bat to go anywhere.
  17. I'm also concerned about having 2 starting safetys who are known more for their hard hitting than their pass coverage. I do think it's important to remember that even in 'full contact' drills, the defense won't usually lay the kind of wood you'll see in games. i don't really think that johnson or williams are the types of recievers that will break our backs. i'm more afraid of the little, quick guys who can find those windows. johnson and williams may be fast, but there's also more of them to hit. they'll get their yeards, but they'll pay for it, too. i don't care how big of a freak you are, brown, archuletta, briggs and urlacher have mighty loud footsteps. it's best to just make your catch and get down.
  18. Here's hoping he's Shockey, but with a focused mind. There's no telling how good Shockey could have been if he was sane. faster than shockey but not as physical. i think a matt jones comparison would be fair.
  19. ahh, this felt like aloss all along. i don't how we're going to beat these guys at all.
  20. would it be mostly bulls stuff? because i think it would be cool to incorporate high school and college sports not only in chicago, but the entire state of illinois and indiana. not that i wouldn't use it to talk bulls, though. I think we could certainly set up forums there to talk about college & high school hoops. right on.
