  1. I'll be seeing Geddy and Rush at Red Rocks tomorrow. That's why I'm not in Houston. Little time for myself _ and Rush. red rocks is awesome. enjoy, but find something out for us while you're at it. I'll find out Rush rocks in person for something like my 11th time since 1976. Got another show lined up in Milwaukee. you're one of those rush guys, eh? very talented band, just not my cup of tea. I understand. I've been hooked since seeing them at the Riviera Theatre in Chicago in 1976. So yeah, I'm one of those Rush guys. :jocolor: i hear that they just come out and start playing, which is nice. too many bands fall in love with talking to the crowd. i know a few people who are going to the show in milwaukee, all old farts and Yes fans. No backup band, either. Just three hours of Rush. woo, that's a long haul.
  2. not even close. He may not be teams best player, but he may be the smartest and he is a damn good baseball player period. being smart doesn't make you "damn good". he's decent, he knows his limitations, and he tries real hard. he's just not nearly as good at baseball as soriano, lee, aram, or derosa. Sorry, he is a damn good player. He may not be as talented as Lee, Ramirez etc, but he plays the game right, smart, performs and therefore to me he is a damn good player. i don't know what that means.

  6. oh i'm fully expecting the cubs to score a couple of runs, now that it doesn't matter just enough runs to keep jim from believing an offensive crisis is on his hands.

  8. whatever it is, hendry owes it to the fans to make a significant move if he can. this team couldn't score with soriano, how are we going to score without him?
  9. i heard that he said that this is a very good offensive team and he sees no reason to make a move, he's very satisfied, apparently. honestly, i wonder if he's even considered that this team needs offensive help. way to "work those phones", jim.
  10. marshall economical. hope he gets some support.
  11. gameday scratching it's head at the jones fly out.
  12. i keep telling everyone that our ba w/risp will come down and we'll be forced to re-invent some power.
  13. need pbp, gamecast is still trying to figure that pickoff out.
  14. i'd rather our hitters look at strike 3 than swing at ball four, that really upsets me.
  15. I'd rather Rammy get nights off than have a lineup without him and Soriano for an extended period of time. as long as he's not busting his butt down the line on a routine grounder or trying to stretch a double into a triple needlessly for the sake of appeasing the histle-mongers, i don't worry about him.
  16. i don't think he can. wouldn't that be a balk?
  17. why is it that ramirez gets the night off? he shouldn't get one night off with soriano out, i'm sorry. this lineup is pathetic.
  18. this season is starting to get very weird, lineup-wise. oh jeez, another year, another inept lineup full of gigantic hols.
  19. no, players that clear waivers don't necessarily suck.they'ree just generally overpaid.
  20. this is my only question. i'm not sure if a strong, accurate arm is more valuable in right, as most hits or fly balls with risp actually go to left. i don't know if having your best arm in right is conventional wisdom or statistically backed up. i've asked this question before. I think the primary benefit is in regard to the throw to third. The best arm being in right field allows for an inferior arm to have an easier time making an accurate throw to third from left. In terms of throwing to the plate though, I would imagine that you're right about left being a better spot for the arm. oh, i take the throw to third into consideration. but i'd like to see someone actually quantify the value of having an arm like soriano's in left and right and then comapre them.

  22. while we do have problems against lefties.... 1. we face way more righties 2. defense is not the problem, offense, namely power, is. dunn remedies this. 3. we have some tradeable commodities. 4. soriano goes to right, dunn stays in left. yeah...soriano went down earlier in the year...moved from CF to LF...so...it is only natural to assume...given the soon to be acquisition of Dunn...that he will move to RF upon his return to the club third time is a charm, right? i like soriano in left, i really do. but dunn is much more valuable in left, and soriano is more valuable in right. sorry, sori, you're ours for as long as the cubs want you, so you'll do what you're told.
  23. while the "hidden game of baseball" is out of print, your library should have a copy. these guys were way ahead of their time, as was earl weaver, apparently. thorn and palmer introduce awesome terminology that totally and completely fits. for example, they often refer to an adherence to perceived baseball nuance as hearing "the music of the spheres"--and liken what most people believe baseball to be to nothing more than an illusion brought about by people who like to make the game much more complicated than it is. the true essence of baseball stares even the most outside, casual fan right in the face. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE PLAYED BASEBALL ALL YOUR LIFE TO UNDERSTAND IT.
