  1. cutler also averaged 9.5 per attempt compared to luck's 6.9
  2. I was going to say they'd be about right until that pass just now. wow. sure, if context doesn't matter whatsoever. With a couple of very small changes in luck at that point, it's Cutler with 3 interceptions and Luck with one, and Luck looking a lot better. edit: at that point you had Jennings with an amazing pick, Jennings with a tip for a pick to... Conte?, and a tipped fumble/pick to Peppers that was so close to hitting the ground they originally ruled it an incomplete pass. Cutler had at least one and I think two dropped interceptions at that point and one or two tipped balls he was lucky didn't go to Colts. ridiculous. if aaron rodgers threw passes to the other team he wouldn't be aaron rodgers. cutler throws a lot of passes into tight windows and double coverage but he looked a lot better than luck out there today. he also had a touchdown pass reversed, and if ragnarok wasn't unleashed on that throw to jeffery, it won't ever be.
  3. yeah, they haven't stopped them once except for a lucky fumble on the 1 yard line. no punts yet. doubt they stop them all game.
  4. no dice, you must choose
  5. huge touchdown
  6. so is "we" lsu or ulm?
  7. and riley o'toole is about the ugliest irish potato face i've ever seen
  8. osei's got a better arm than scheelhaase, and runs better, too.
  9. it looks worse, but that's because zook recruited bad quarterbacks. can't wait for aaron bailey to get here.
  10. Such a dumb thing to say. The Packers and Lions will throw it better. The Bears don't need to throw it better, they have a better running game, special teams and probably defense. people just ignore the fact that cutler missed the last 6 games of the season.
  11. i think if you take into account 3 things you can get a pretty accurate idea of where a defense falls: yards per play, takeaways, and schedule strength. the bears played 8 of the top 10 offenses, statistically, in the NFL last year, and 2 of those teams twice. so 10 total games against top 10 offenses will skew the overall stats significantly. football outsiders has their schedule as the toughest by far in terms of opposing offenses.
  12. so #1 isn't elite relative to defenses last year? has the world gone mad?
  13. seeing old style post in these college sports threads is like reading garfield minus garfield.
  14. they had a bad year between harris and peppers while urlacher was injured, but other than that i don't see much of a dropoff. as has been said, an argument can be made that they were the best defense in football last year.
  15. Saw that too. The same guy had Cutler as MVP and Offensive POY, has any player ever won both? Don't they usually give those out to different guys? Didn't Rodgers get MVP last year and Brady or Brees OPOY? i don't understand how anyone could have jay cutler beating out aaron rodgers for either award unless jay goes neo this year.
  16. How can you possibly say this? They went from an elite defense to just about average in a hurry. Then they ticked a bit higher again but are still not close to elite. They very much did miss several beats. They are very susceptible to the pass and have been for a few years after once being virtually impossible to throw against since you wouldn't get much yardage or would turn it over anyway. If you're judging their pass defense from last year, it was actually pretty good. Teams passed a ton on them, mostly because rushing was futile, but they held opposing QBs to a 79 rating. This all considering they played Rodgers and Stafford twice, Brees, Rivers, Newton, and Vick once.

  19. Yep, there has been forever. I think the guy said they'd keep doing it until Pullman gets a Gameday. ETA: http://deadspin.com/5673853/inside-the-nations-dorkiest-fanbase-how-the-washington-state-cougars-flag-gets-on-gameday-each-week I hate Wazzou fans, they're obnoxious especially considering how awful their team historically has been I love the term "cougin' it"
  20. they will use evan rodriguez when they need to, i think.
  21. Walk, hit for extra bases, and play the hell out of center and he'll be fine.
  22. i think we needed a game like this to remind us of what we're waiting for.
