  1. because he's a gamer, or looks like he is. hill doesn't look focused most of the time, ergo he is not and cannot pitch in the big leagues. i hate lou most of the time these days.
  2. The frustration mostly stems from the fact that they won't play Pie regularly, and there's no damn reason for it. and the impending edmonds signing does little to effect pie's non-existent playing time. i hate to say it, because i hate the expression, but he might as well get some plate appearances somewhere.
  3. i could see pitt taking marquis if we ate his contract, the whole thing.
  4. marquis is stuck in the rotation. that's what happens when you commit 21 mil over 3 years to a bad pitcher just so you can fill out your rotation. great move sending hill to iowa, though. that really helps a lot.
  5. if we do sign edmonds, are people assuming that he'll play every day? if this is the case, do people think he will play every day if he doesn't hit? the worst part of this situation is that it's going to rob pie of any chance at starting significantly this season. but honestly, does anyone think that pie has a chance of starting this season, anyway? lou isn't going to start pie without production, and he won't get production if hedoesn't start him consistently. so, if pie wouldn't get a chance this year, anyway, why are people so upset about the cubs signing a shot at lightning in a bottle? they didn't trade anyone, and i have faith that edmonds won't stick around if he can't hit for us. so calm down everyone, it's not that big a deal.
  6. soriano hit that ball right where we were sitting the other day.
  7. theriot is figuring out this hitting thing.
  8. giving money to a kicker while a couple core players are either unhappy or not not extended yet. makes perfect sense.
  9. it was great time. great to put a face to everyone who was there.
  10. No it isn't. But, why don't you read up on Jones a bit. You might sound less foolish. Let me help guide you, check on his dad also. i don't really care about Illini basketball. at all. I was just asking is it so hard to believe that illini fans don't really care about a kid from champaign?
  11. because he was never recruited very hard by weber or his assistants. i'm actually really shocked that he's not headed to minnesota, really shocked. he's got a lot of potential, that's for sure. but with the other guards in illinois, he was high on the illini's wish list for about 2 seconds---decided to bide his time and wait to make a decision, and then found himself out in the cold. He chose IU for the playing time. that seems to be the word. if he DID have offers from ku and uk, and was more interested in minny and iu, it makes sense that he would have chosen iu so that he could play right away. I can't speak for UI, but I'm pretty sure we never offered him. We definitely sniffed around. I believe his dad and Self became friends while Self was at UI. But I'm pretty sure we were lukewarm on him. he claims that he had a ku offer, take that for what it's worth. i'm skeptical, too.

  13. doesn't feel like we're capable of winning again.
  14. yeah, this is what happens. how awesome it is being a cub fan. we'll never ever win 100 games and take the division comfortably.
  15. rowley's a monster, no doubt. definitely a project, and we already have one of those at center--although i think rowley has a lot better chance of making it that tis does. as for 09-10 being stacked with great players, it's true. but we already have the cream of the crop, so it's nice to sit back and not have to worry about getting a share and then watching as they go elsewhere. we just need those 2011 kids to start committing. oh yeah, and it appears that thompson doesn't have an illini offer just yet. Sulley, you said KU was in the lead for some kid named Blackshear. I don't know anything about him. Could you provide some details/scouting report? right now, he's the second ranked player in illinois for 2011, behind mike shaw. he's a 6-4 wing and super athletic. pretty raw in terms of skills, not a great ball-handler or shooter, but he was only a freshman. will develop in time. unfortunately, he's still young so there's not much of a profile on him.
  16. actually vlad fits into the category of "bad ball hitter", with pujols and aram. they don't strike out much because they're good at hitting pretty much anything effectively.
