i think he'll be more ready than tis, who showed me next to nothing last season. he's the poster boy for projects. he certainly is tall, but he better get good, fast if he wants to be a starter. keller has shown that he can fill it up night in and night out at a higher level than tis, and i'll bank on that.

hill should be allowed to pitch through his control problems. any other pitcher on staff would be. this is ridiculous. -
i'm excited to see the illini guardplay next year. they have some big perimeter players that can torch the nets and a point guard who started hitting his stride late last season. i'd like to see keller start next season alongside davis. that would be a tourney team.

I'd rather have Stone. Oh wait, we managed to screw that up too. i'd rather have stone so that i could hate him immensely every time he opens his mouth. wait, no i wouldn't. I have a recording that says "a breaking pitch low and away should get him" that I play every time a batter gets to two strikes. Stone would be redundant. haha, yes.

what bob's not considering is that the leadoff man gets more plate appearances than anyone else over the course of a season, and soriano's ops is good enough to want him to have as many plate appearances as possible.

there's just no proof that he's been bad. he's walked a lot of guys, but he's been rather good. No I'm sure what he just did was bad no, i'm sure his .671 OPS against says he's been good. 18 walks in 19 innings is terrible, regardless of his OPS against. actually, ops against takes into account how many people make outs against him. You seriously believe that pitcher who is walking a batter an inning is doing a good job? you seriously base your opinion of a pitcher on how many people he walks? incredibly stupid. Yeah, I'm stupid. Where did I say that is where I base my opinion entirely? Hill has been bad because he has had control problems. He does not have the velocity to work around that. When his curveball is off teams can sit on his fastball, which as I said, isn't fast enough to blow guys away. He also lacks a third pitch to use when he is in situations like this. That is what gets him in trouble. Better? you said he's been bad since spring training and based your argument on walk rate. that's what i took issue with, and i'm sorry for characterizing your post as stupid, but that was my reaction to that rationale.

It's a small sample. his point is that hill has been bad since spring training, which is based on visceral reaction and anecdotal evidence. sure, he's walked a lot, but to say that means he's been bad is foolish. walk rates are now anecdotal and visceral? walk rates are one peripheral. if you don't take into account other factors, then there's nothing really that anyone can say.
